Vacant Lot (2000)
Tip Of The Iceberg...
I will say that for anyone who has not had a chance to view this film, SHAME ON YOU! (LOL).
All jokes aside, Vacant Lot is unique film in the sense that it possesses a rarity, in regards to black cinema in this day in age. It ACTUALLY HAS A STORY with very REALISTIC characters. I believe in any of the characters presented in this film, u can think of at least one person in your world that is similar. I, fortunately, had a chance to view this film when it "premiered" in Indianapolis...and I still believe that it hasn't been seen by enough people. It's a classic tale of one man struggling 2 find himself, through the folks that are inside of his world. Very enjoyable (and I'm not just saying that because I was BRIEFLY in the film either...LOL). Keep your eyes open for director/writer Sherman "Skee" Skinner. That's a DEFINITE!

Forgive Me Father (2001)
Cold Blooded...?
I recently saw the director's cut of Forgive Me Father. I must say I enjoyed the story...PARTICULARLY Ivan's character. It was kinda chilling 2 see a man in a priest's wardrobe, killing the people who murdered his brother. It was cold and calculated. I thought his understated expressions worked great for his character. I thought that the supporting cast could have been much stronger, BUT, some of the actors (i believe) were acting in their first film, so overall...everyone did okay. I think people should see this film...Ivan's DEFINITELY an underrated AND under appreciated independent film director.
