Ali G Indahouse (2002)
Bring Ali to the US!
Looks like I'm the first United States citizen to review this movie on the IMDb (and probably one of the very few who have actually seen it) and it really is amazing that Ali G hasn't made it big over here yet. Mr. Bean did, as well as Monty Python. Maybe Ali's time is coming.
The movie itself was, in my opinion, pretty good. Granted, it recycled a lot of the humor from his show, but it was fun to see Ali out and about for a whole movie rather than interviewing people. Not that I don't find the interviews funny.
There isn't a whole lot that I can say about this movie other than I enjoyed it and have watched it several times. It's a lot of fun and will hopefully someday be included in the league of comic genius that is Mr. Bean or Monty Python.

Batman: Vengeance (2001)
mmmm.... yummy
Before I get into everything that I love about this game, I want to get my problems with it out of the way. First of all... the music was alright.. but I missed Danny Elfman's theme from the animated series. it was nowhere to be found. I can understand that it was probably missing because of licensing issues or something like that, but I still would have much rather had it than the music that was there. my other big problem was the design of the joker... when batman the animated series first came out the joker looked fine. he actually had eyes, and his red lips. then he got redesigned when the show moved from the fox network to the wb saturday morning lineup along with all the other characters. while I liked all of the other redesigns I did not like the joker's at all. he has empty eyes for some reason. and his lips aren't red. and something about his hair doesn't look right at all. then when batman beyond: return of the joker came out, they again redesigned the joker for the flashback scene. this was my favorite animated design of the joker yet, and when I saw him in this game I was disappointed to see that they instead used the first redesign... it just doesn't look right to me.
other than that, this game was amazing. the plot drives the plot of the last two live action movies into the ground. the voice talent is the same from the cartoon which was great.. especially kevin conroy, michael ansara and mark hamill. these guys really bring the characters to life in a way that I don't think any other voice actor could. the controls are simple enough to understand and use. I would have liked a few more gadgets in batman's arsenal, and the sound effect for the batgrapple just wasn't right. it was just kind of a "click" and that was it... in the cartoon it has more of a punch to it. these are just a few minor gripes... nothing that really kept me from enjoying the game. two things that almost did were the length and the challenge. it felt like it ended too abruptly and it was pretty easy for the most part. I would have liked a few more in depth hand to hand boss battles. oh well.. all in all I LOVED this game and I can strongly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of batman. I played the gamecube version, so I'm not sure how other versions may compare.
Freddy Got Fingered (2001)
It grew on me
The very first time I watched this movie I absolutely hated it and never wanted to watch it again. It was sick and wrong on so many levels and for a long enough time I kept my vow to never again witness it. But then I met a girl and fell in love, and she mentioned it as being one of the funniest movies she'd ever seen. So I gave it a second chance. Now that I knew what to expect it wasn't so bad, but still nothing I'd really watch over and over. I went back on that too, and bought the DVD. I decided to watch the movie with Tom Green's commentary turned on, and you know what? After hearing everything he had to say about it I started to love this movie and appreciate it for what it was. There were a few parts during the commentary where I actually felt sorry for Tom, when he mentioned that the movie basically failed at the box office, where he mentioned that most critics hated it, when he was worried that he was ugly, and most of all when he swallowed his coffee stir stick. The first time I saw it I didn't think there was a plot to it, but after multiple viewings and listening to the excellent commentary I can pick up on the many themes of it. So I implore those of you who hated it, hell, even those of you who loved it, to pick up a copy of the DVD and listen to the commentary as you watch, it's a WHOLE new experience.
