Over the Hedge (2006)
Fun for the whole family.
I was a little hesitant at first about this one, but it was a hot day in the Southern Tier, and I was (at least) looking forward to the air conditioning. But this movie grabbed me right from the beginning. I can't tell you how frustrated I get with snack vending machines.
The story is very cute, even if the premise has been used time and time again. It's a story about greed, deception, betrayal, teamwork, and other family values. But it's also about learning the value of friendship and family.
I have two boys 4 and 7 and we loved this film. I think William Shatner was great as the overacting dad opossum.
My only criticism is the caffeine/squirrel bit. I just saw the same bit last year in Hoodwinked. But I can forgive as I know it takes years to make an animated film, and the story is lost without this sequence.
Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002)
Alot of the same jokes, but funny as ever.
If you loved the first 2 Austin Powers movies, this one won't disappoint you. Yeah, Mike Meyers recycles some old jokes, but they are just as funny today. Not as disgusting as AP2, Goldmember delivers solid hilarity (I think I only wanted to puke once [the 'Flaking' Dutchman] yeah baby!). The cameos in Goldmember alone are worth the price of admission.
Don't miss this one!
