Vinterviken (1996)
Good Swedish Romantic Movie
Well...many people may tear this movie apart but i really think that this is one of the best teenage romantic movies from the 1990's in Sweden and the acting is also good. Includes Romance/Racism/Comedy/Drama and also very good and high class actors like: Peter Haber,Anki Liden,Lina Englund,Kjell Bergkvist and the big name:Allan Svensson. Great actors and performances here and you should try to see it if you get the chance. This movie from 1996 is good and i just saw it recently a few days ago and i enjoyed every minute of it and before i did not see it since it came out on cinema. This one is a lot better than the other teenage movie from Sweden that came out around 1988 i think that was called "Ps Sista Sommaren". This one has more better acting in it and more to reality. hope to see more romantic movies like this in this new millennium from Sweden.
Edge of the City (1957)
A classic 1950's movie with the great Sidney Poiter.
This is a great movie. a real classic Poiter movie. I just saw it for the first time on TCM. I loved it from the start to end. One of the best movies made in the 1950's USA. Same league as The Blackboard Jungle,King Creole,Giant. Sidney poiter and John Cassavetes are just great as good friends and they have some trouble with Jack Warden. Later on Jack Warden kills off Poiter and people think he will get away with it. The end of the movie is just perfect and unespected. If you get the chance,SEE IT!!!! Sidney Poiter is as good here as he was in In The Heat Of The Night and Guess Who Comes To Dinner. This is a real classic. More movies like this on tv please.
Never So Few (1959)
Could have been great...
Well, here we got a movie with an all-star cast. Like:Frank Sinatra,Charles Bronson,Steve Mcqueen, etc. This movie could have been a great one. It started off very good but towards the end it's getting a little boring. Sinatra can do better,we know that. Anyway it is good but not great. It is nice to see the hardmen Mcqueen/Bronson in action at a young age like here. The next year they went on to do the great western action drama "The Magnicifent Seven".
Åsa-Nisse och tjocka släkten (1963)
Comedy goes rock'n'roll
Great comedy movie from Sweden. About the great man Asa-Nisse and his friend Klabbharparn. There is about 21 Asa-Nisse movies and John Elfström was in 19 of them. A great classic that you need to see. This time they go rock'n'roll and guest star Jerry Williams plays Record store keeper. He does two great rock numbers "Feelin'Blue" and "Just The Same". I always enjoy John Elfström's movies,he was a great Swedish actor. He could do Comedy,Drama and Musicals very good. I rate this one:6/10.
