Kung Fu Panda 4 (2024)
Fun Movie but weakest in the series
Personally it was fun but disappointing at the same time, feel like they left out a lot of things that fans wanted like a team up between Po and Tai Lung, Not sure many people wanted a new dragon warrior but for some reason the new dragon warrior candidate is already almost as good as Po in martial arts despite her first teacher not being good at Kung Fu hence why her teacher had to steal moves from other characters. Tai Lung changing his mind on Po was so fast at the end that it didn't feel rewarding cause nothing was built there, it was just seeing Tai Lung hearing his doubt beating the villain and then bam The villains respect Po and go back to spirit land. In having a big final battle especially to end the whole series it would have been nice to see Po, Tai Lung, and the furious five all fighting in a last ditch battle to win. Overall it's not a bad movie by any means just felt like they could have done so much more to close out the whole series.
Klaus (2019)
Great Movie
What an interesting angle to the great Holiday of Christmas. The unusual dark presence and aroma of the film in the beginning contrasted by the steady growing happiness and Christmas throughout the film is awesome. The pacing of the film is excellent, not too much in depth character development save a few characters but they all work well together, I love the contrasting personalities of Jesper and Klause and how it compliments them becoming friends. The story was a unique and interesting take on Christmas and was a treat to watch, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie!
Frozen II (2019)
It was decent
The main thing that is better in this movie compared to the first is that the graphics
And animation are amazing, so many breathe-taking scenes! Although there is a confusing plot with perhaps predictable reveal and plot twist that was also predictable. One thing that I disliked was the confusing arc they tried with Kristoff, what was supposed to be a big part of the movie was his proposal which the movie established in the beginning and then Kristoff basically disappeared for a good chunk of the movie after his song, the movie did nothing with Kristoff's relationship with Anna to set a foundation or at lease development with their relationship. Instead Anna and Elsas relationship was the main focus almost to the point where it was like Anna and Elsa should have just had the Romance cause it did nothing with Kristoff, also Anna is an awesome fun character while Elsa is a friendly Emo chick she doesn't give much personality but I guess that how here character was supposed to be also I really disliked that there was no set villain, it's just hero's discovering the past basically and that's it, despite everything the voice acting was incredible alongside the graphics and computer animation.
Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)
Honest Review from a long time fan
Terminator Dark fate was to no surprise by now very very disappointing for many reasons but just to start they didn't try to add anything that was unique or fresh to the franchise. This movie was supposed to continue from the amazing first two terminator movies that I was a huge fan of! They decided to use to take everything down that we cared about in the opening scene by killing off John Connor who has been the main focus of the whole series which was like a big middle finger to all the fans just to introduce the new John Connor which is some random girl from Mexico who we never even receive valid reasons to care about. Literally I did not care about anyone besides Sarah because of the history we have been through with her. They use the same old recycled plot just Skynet is called Legion because no matter what some random AI has to take over the future whether skynet is defeated or not. Arnold returns as a terminator but after completing his mission and killing John Connor he decides to grow a conscious and have a family and he a father and husband and I hope you can see where I have problems with this narrative, also if Skynet was destroyed then how do they still send a terminator back in time to kill John!?!? This movie took everything we cared about as fans and threw it away to give us the same thing with different people that we don't care about. From a terminator fan this movie was extremely disappointing to me and I still haven't brought up everything that I hated about it. I only give it 4 stars because of action that's it.
It Chapter Two (2019)
It was decent
I feel like the makers of IT seen the success in the feedback for the little bits of humor they put into the first movie so they decided to go overboard with it in this second film. Which took away from the horror experience to me. Instead it's more like mostly humor with bits of horror in there when IT is supposed to be a horror film. Obviously great performances from the actors but the other aspects of the film took away from what I was looking for in this film.
Zombieland: Double Tap (2019)
Very Entertaining
Essentially this movie has every single aspect that we all loved and cherished in the first installment to the series, and is incredibly entertaining however, that's just it, the movie took a decade to be made and it doesn't offer us anything new at all or any added unique aspects instead we have essentially the first movie with a different plot and some new characters! Above all it is a good movie and very entertaining.
Gemini Man (2019)
An action flick that had potential
Now I'm giving 5 stars because the movie was entertaining and had a lot of action scenes but had "some" amazing CGI moments in the movie that shows how far we have come with technology however, I didn't give the last 5 stars because the plot in many ways isn't too interesting, the action scenes when compared to other action movies this year is nothing special, and while some CGI moments were amazing the rest of the CGI moments were horrible and to the point where you get taken out of the movie because of how bad the CGI gets. I understand working on CGI at this caliber is incredibly difficult but it looks like they worked hard on some CGI scenes and said "screw it" to the other CGI scenes. I thought this movie was decent, but had so much potential.
Countdown (2019)
Not really impressed
So to begin, for some strange reason in horror films many people just seem to lose their common sense. Sorry just had to put that there, on the other hand I thought the pace is the movie was faster than it should have been and then to top everything off the character development for the main characters was really disappointing in that, I never really gained a reason to care about these people who were falling victim to the app, the main girl really is just some girl who downloaded the app and we just have to watch her try to figure things out, and her love interest all of a sudden shows up out of nowhere because his time is running out as well, farther in the movie they have a thing and then he gets run over by the car lol Just not impressed with this movie
How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World (2019)
An amazing movie!
Honestly had some fears on how they would conclude the series but they blew it out of the water! Not only did they conclude the series in a great way but they developed the characters and all of their personal challenges to compliment the pace of the movie. Every main character has their challenges especially Hiccup and Toothless obviously. Hiccup has a few obstacles he has to overcome in his development one is that he needs to start being more confident in himself, Since the first movie Hiccup has always been that shy, nervous, dork who was a good kid but no confidence at all, although we see how much he had come along and grown since the first movie by the end of this one you can't help but be proud of who he becomes. Toothless finds a female Night Fury and according to the movie they are the last ones in their species, Toothless finds the female and it's clear that Hiccup needs to learn to let go of Toothless Sadly and in the movie we see how far Toothless comes along as he is respected amongst other dragons and seen as a king. Overall the movie was great and definitely worth watching, the scenery is truly beautiful and many of the shots were breathe taking and will leave you wondering how they animated it! If there was one sub par thing for me in the movie it would have been the villain, His history as the Night Fury killer was a cool idea that they should have expanded on with a better villain. The villain seems bland in my opinion with his weapon being the only thing that made him interesting to me. Again overall amazing movie
