Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
Kept waiting for it to get good
Can't believe this is an academy front runner! It has to be because of the homage to days gone by...yet, despite a great cast, it's just dull. Totally overrated and wouldn't have been made with Tarantino's name being attached to the script.
Little Women (2019)
Incredible Adaptation
Greta Gerwig managed to take a book that has been adapted multiple times and given us something that comes across as completely original! The performances of the 4 main actresses come across as authentic sisterhood. While Watson & Ronan are exceptional (as well as the best known of the young actresses), it's Pugh and Scanlen that steal the show! The cinematography coupled with Desplat's score is breathtaking and should easily pick up multiple award nominations. While I am certain that it will go head to head with movies like The Irishman, this is the one that will stand the test of time. In my humble opinion, this movie is perfect and I can't wait to see it again.
Booksmart (2019)
Bridesmaids Meets Superbad
One of the funniest films I've ever watched! The two main actors Beanie Feldstein and Kaitlyn Denver are fantastic and are backed by a strong group of supporting actors. However, it's Billie Lourd as Gigi who had me screaming laughing stealing every scene she's in.
Summer '03 (2018)
Love It or Hate It
Not sure why this got so many awful reviews. Even if you hate the storyline (especially if you're uptight and bothered by teen sexuality theme), the acting is really good. Joey King is perfect for her role as a awkward struggling teen and June Squibb, as the homophobic anti-Semitic, absolutely steals the few crucial scenes she's in.
Tell It to the Bees (2018)
I wish I didn't read the book before I saw this...
Don't get me wrong, I did like this film. The fashion style and the two main actresses don't disappoint. However, I'm not sure why they chose to diverge so much from such a well done book and the happy ending of it? The departure from the flow of the book made the last half hour feel clunky.
