Three Blind Mice (2023)
Waiting for the twist...
Wouldn't this have been a crackerjack of a movie if the ending turned out to be a set up? You know...I could envision all the 'dead' characters coming back to life...the intervention would have been a huge success and Abigail would have sworn off drugs forever! SURPRISE!!
However, sadly, this is not the case.
Although the mutants could not see, they could hear screams (so many deaths!) and smell. If Abigail was smart, she should have doused herself in gasoline and escaped. That would have removed the need for awful CGI effects. And don't get me started on the hair color and horrible throaty cries from the 'star'.
Ginger Snaps (2000)
Meh
I really wanted to like this!!! I liked the actresses, but the continued 'panting' track was thoroughly annoying.
There was an intriguing start to the movie, but it soon dwindled into banality. And don't get me started about the crazy science involved in extraction of monkshood or the fairly deadly method of injecting it into a person.
The blood and gore was enjoyable, until about 10 minutes before the end. By then I was totally bored and ready for the credits.
I don't think I will be watching the sequels (or prequels or whatever).
Although I prefer real costumes over CGI, this was too hokey to even be a cult classic.
Attached: Paranormal (2021)
I almost screamed...
From boredom. I liked the first three 'Paranormal' movies, but this was the absolute worst. No action, the seconds in the 'camera' were not correct, the 'footage' was never reviewed, it wreaked of amateurism.
Where were the jump scares? Where was the PLOT? And James' use of the word 'yous' made me want to vomit.
I loved the scenes with the cat. The most believable part I could tolerate.
If you love 'Paranormal' movies, I beg you DON'T WATCH this! It is slow, boring and infantile. I only watched this because it's raining outside, it's cold, and I have no life. But, if you DO have a life DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME HERE.
Supervized (2019)
Made me laugh
Big fan of the still-gorgeous Beau Bridges and Tom Bergenger. Cute plot and great characters. Louis Gossett Jr. Is awesome too, he reminds me of Scatman Cruthers.
A senior living home for superheroes...where they are recognized for their powers. It reckons back to an (animated) episode of 'The Tick' where The Tick and Arthur visit a retirement home for superheroes. The aging group actually come out of retirement and save the world from the evil entity 'The Terror'.
I got quite a few chuckles from this film. Love the superhero rivalry and the inevitable outcome--the effeminate new superhero vs. The oldsters.
The Sleepless Unrest: The Real Conjuring Home (2021)
for the love of pete...
Do not waste your valuable time with this movie. It got 4 stars on Amazon (how?) so I watched... UG. Boring, one-dimensional characters, insipid dialogue ((The Rem-Pod is going off) times 4!) scenery flaws (the house looked vastly different between the initial drive-in encounter and the shots half way into the film.) Despite that, about half way into the film I kept hoping the investigators would die off.
I kept expecting some kind of jump scare but was left wanting. A few flashing gadgets, some garbled voices and a hinky photograph of a 'presence' isn't enough. This is not horror, it is farce/comedy.
The Yellow Wallpaper (2021)
Interesting
Having dealt with depression and bipolar disorder, this movie intrigued me once I realized where it was going. A plain, ordinary woman plagued by post-partum (?) and maniac depression is wrapped in wool by her husband and brother who can't understand what she is going through. I admit, there were some puzzling scenes, which made it all the more interesting. In the time period of the film, no-one legitimized depression as a disease, or had the means to treat it.
But it was oh so satisfying when she began to peel off that horrid wallpaper, which, I think, symbolized her cocoon, revealing the real, terribly unhappy woman. Strange ending left me hanging, but gave me a lot of things to think about! Thank heavens we live in modern times where a woman like her could have been treated and helped back to a normal life.
Jane's make up and wardrobe really reflected her descent, from looking ordinary, to frumpy to downright ill. I'll definitely read the short story it is based on.
They Live Inside Us (2020)
disjointed and SLOW
I had hopes for a good movie. They didn't occur. The plot was disjointed and has been done before, writer's block with a new 'setting' to try to help things along.
The 'old house'. More confusing plotlines, was he and his daughter dead? Wife still living?
The acting was horrifying, dialog was (when it occurred) terrible, and the ending sub-par. Give it a miss.
Mother! (2017)
Interesting take...
I admit I did read some reviews before viewing. Some suggest it is God (Him) and Eve (Mother) interacting as her son was born and sacrificed to save the world.
In essence, an interesting movie. But Jennifer Lawrence's voice grates on my ears and nerves, always has, always will.
Motivational Growth (2013)
skeptical at first but FUN!
This is a cult classic in the making. I watched mainly because of the billing of Jeffery Combs and I'm glad I did. Neat story, keeps you guessing as to what is real. Characters are believable and I could empathize with them. Interesting twists leave you guessing and "THE MOLD' was skillfully designed. Worth a watch.
