Fo zhang luo han quan (1980)
This is the best kung fu film ever.
This is the best kung fu film ever, no doubt. Absurdly complex fight sequences, kung fu monks, stunning fisting scenes. Don't ask me what the plot was, I just know this film has to be seen to be believed. The guy who did the fight scenes also engineered the fight sequences in The Matrix, but this film is light years beyond Keanu Reeves. It HAS to be seen.
Sunset Beach (1997)
Insanity in Suburban California
This fantastically trashy series enjoyed a cult following in the UK in the late 90s. The programme was perhaps more compelling in the first couple of years before the action slowed down so much that it took 6 months for any storyline to reach its climax, with absolutely nothing of significance happening in the meantime. Despite this, Sunset Beach was still hugely enjoyable as much of its appeal came in the detail. For example the bizzare cut shots where the camera would linger on an actor's face for an unexplainably long period of time, the conversations which took place between the dog and the baby in the Richards' house or the Annie Douglas fantasy sequences (which once included a guest appearance by Jerry Springer). Having said that the storylines were also fantastic, for example the Rosario Jewels story which featured zombies and premature ageing or the one with an amateur artificial insemination which involved stolen sperm and a turkey baster. Make sure to try and catch it if its being repeated on a TV channel near you.
