Submarine D-1 Sinks
15 March 2024
Sorry to give this film such a low rating but just too many errors. First, the sign at the beginning saying U. S. Submarine Base New London, CT should say Groton, CT.", not New London. Next, as they were rescuing the men some of CPO's and officers were in full dress uniforms. REALY? Many of them managed to keep their caps on. While in Panama on their way to San Diego, they were wearing their winter blues. Then as Frank McHugh was meeting his girl friend at the dock, he somehow managed to be wearing completely dry clothes. Also, now in San Diego they were wearing winter blues. It's too bad as I was expecting to enjoy this film, it went into the drinl.

Scorsese Does It Again
23 October 2023
Scorsese never ceases to amaze. It may be 3:20 in length but it doesn't get boring or tedius and most movies of this length do. Scorsese is at his best; DiCaprio does a tremendous job and De Nero, just when I thought he was about through, gives us a possible supporting actor performance. This film runs 3:20 but it doesn't drag or make you look at your watch. It's a wonderful film. So why did I give it a 9? For two reasons. One, I have a problem with subtitles. The are usually in white and on a white background that are tough to read. The second and final problem is making DiCaprio, at the end of the film, look like Brando in The Godfather. They could age him without stuffing his jowls. Other than that, the movie was excellent.

Super Bore
18 September 2023
I am a big fan of Agatha Christie's work, all who played Poirot and Kenneth Branagh. However, this movie is a super bore. Trying to get through 90%(?) of this film in the dark was not easy which is too bad since it was filmed in Venice, one of the world's great cities. After about one hour I began struggling. Branagh, who is a terrific actor, sounded like he was going to sleep. Of all the actors who played Poirot in the modern age, he was the weakest. Tina Fey did a very good job and the and I thought the young boy was very good as he was in Belfast. But see the film and make your own opinion.

Will It Ever End?
24 July 2023
The only thing that kept me from giving this film a 9 instead of an 8 is the length. Not much shorter than the actual war. The directing was excellant and the cast is superb. The only one I had a small problem with was the choice for President Truman. I think in real life Truman was gruffer. Other than that, everyone was right on. I believe the story line was fairly accurate as was the locations. I strongly recommend seeing this film, if you can sit for 3 hours. So, pack a lunch, put your feet up and enjoy. I think you will not feel cheated and certainly not happy and upbeat but very informed.

Tried Hard To Be Mediocre
11 June 2023
This film is obviously based on a factual battle in WW2. It manages to have mediocre acting, typical 1950's cinematography, bad writing and overall a waste of film. Cliff Robertson has a silly mustache which was the look of the '50s, and an Australian Nurse who goes the through the entire film wearing one skirt, (one wonders why she wasn't wearing pants), which never gets dirty and best of all, her hair always looks good. Keep in mind this film takes place in a POW camp. The movie needed plenty of help as it seems to me the director was involved in a good book during filming. The last thing is the fight scene. It should have been the last thing.

The Best
4 March 2023
This is the best show to come along in quite a while. This show has everything. Acting, story line, humor and knows how to keep your interest.

Hilary Swank was a great choice to play this part. The rest of the cast is equally strong. There are no weak characters and that is much needed when the writing is this good.

Also. For those who have never been to Alaska, Anchorage in particular, this is your chance to see one of the great areas of our country. We have been there and it is fantastic. Regardless, if you haven't seen this show yet, check it out. I think you will find it to be everything I have said it is.

My review of yesterday has a flaw in it I wish to correct. After submitting my review, I found out the show is actually filmed in British Columbia, NOT Alaska. I won't change my review but I did want to correct my mistake.

Guilty as charged
18 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I'm done. There isn't any way that I would ever watch another episode of this tripe. I am amazed that John Larroquette would want his name to be associated with this assault on on his otherwise great career. I am not going to change my rating but I do want to make an addition. When are they going to get rid of that insipid laugh track? I don't need something to tell me it's time to laugh because it usually isn't. In 1985 this show was really good, for the time period. Forty years later it doesn't work. The pigeon bit was ridiculous, and the wall painting made no sense.

The actors and the acting left more than a lot to be desired. Some of them even gave me the impression that they didn't want to be there.

Many shows have tried a comeback and not many have worked. This goes under the not many category. I don't want to get personal with the actors but some of them are talentless. At least on this show anyway.

I expect the show has about 4 episodes to live at best. Please let it die. It needs to go on to the TV Show Heaven..

Not Very Good
9 January 2023
I have never watched a movie that seems to have been written by a 12 year-old for a school play. Writing and acting (?) have set a new low. It's too bad though because it could have been better even though the cast was a bit better than "B" level.

Wayne Morris has made some decent films as has Lee Van Cleef. I wasn't expecting High Noon quality but I was expecting at least mid-morning. But I guess I need to lower my expectations when I turn on this type of film. Nevertheless, I live with these types films as I do get some humor out of them. After reading this revue. I hope I haven't rated it too high.

Foreign Intrigue
24 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I wasn't going to write a review until I saw reviews from 1's to 10's I decided to. I thought the film quality, sound and lighting were distracting to a fault. It was all too dark to the point it looked like it was filmed in someone's garage. The acting was fine but there were somewhat confusing times. The arrest for a dumb reason, the weirdo guy throwing kisses to Jones. Clift had some mental issues in real life and they sure came across in this film. I gave it a 5 but that might have been high. I think overall the film should have had more continuity. It just seemed to leave me wanting more.

Written and directed by the 3 Stooges. Worst fight scene I have ever seen. I think my "5" rating is being generous. Obviously I an not recommending this film.

Great Cast
22 May 2022
Great cast, dumb movie. I'm not sure what the point of this film was supposed to be, but I will be darned if I can figure it out. Myrna Loy and Robert Taylor are strong enough to keep your interest, but I felt some happiness when it finally ended.

Surprise Surprise
26 December 2021
I took my 7 year old granddaughter to see Sing 2. I thought I could get through 2 or so hours. Get through it I did, with great enjoyment. The music is terrific, the singing was amazing and the animation as spectacular. My wife and I had more fun watching this film with my granddaughter than I could ever had imagined. Treat yourself and take a young child to see this great film you will be very happy.

Gary Cole,,,Why?
7 December 2021
Gary Cole is about as exciting as a root canal. For quite a while you replaced strong characters with equally strong characters. Then, KABOOM. Now all the humor is gone. The stories are weak and its now just another show. I do have a question though. Now that Bull is over, have you looked into the possibility of getting Michael Weatherly back? Dump Cole and bring back Tony.

Sad, Sad. Sad
22 October 2021
Amazing how this show got on the air. The only redeeming quality is that the show is only, sadly, an hour long. This show is an embarrassment not only to all the other NCIS', but to TV itself. What are the director's watching when they are filming this show? Maybe reruns of SNL.

Really. SINATRA?
10 June 2021
The movie, which was ok, ends with Frank Sinatra singing "Old Man River." Really? He has as much right to sing Old Man River as I do. With all the great black actors and singer at that time, Paul Robson for one, and they choose Sinatra. This was a complete insult to Jerome Kern and all black actors and singers.

A Bogart Surprise
17 April 2021
I am at a loss. I never thought I would rate a Bogart movie any lower than a 7. This film however warrants a 4 but I am going with a 5 because of the cast. The film quality is very poor, the acting leaves something to be desired and the story is, well,,,sad. I guess that every great actor makes a dud once in awhile, but it is usually at the beginning of their career, not a the end.

Canadian Mistaking
28 January 2021
I would have rated this a 3 but I didn't want to insult all the 3's that came before it. I can not believe that some reviewers actually rated this film? a 9 or 10. Do you people not get out much? Have you never seen a movie that is actually good? Not decent but just good? Scenery was good though. Bad reason to give it a rating higher than 5.

Sad
18 December 2020
This film needed a few things to make it a very good film. First, a decent writer. Second, a decent director. Third, some decent acting. Other than that, it was pretty good. The acting was so bad that I had a hard time rooting for them. I highly recommend passing on this silly movie and get yourself a decent book to read instead.

Wrong Stadium
22 November 2020
Having worked for Yale Athletics for 25 years I can say without fear of contradiction that the football game shown was not being played at Harvard Stadium but rather Yale Bowl. Having seen countless games at both venues, this is a definite fact.

Good Heavens
17 October 2020
Fight scenes were embarrassing and the death scenes laughable. As for casting, all the other Robin Hood films I have seen portray Friar Tuck as short and stocky. In this film I see a well built man about 5'11" to 6'. I would have given this film a 4 rating but there were enough laughs to make be fell generous.

REALLY?
10 April 2020
Pauley, Pauley, Pauley. What have you done? I understand you wanted out of NCIS but this is what you chose? You are too good for this tripe. Get out while you can. This credit will haunt you for the rest of your career. I thought after the first episode it couldn't get much worse but the writers made every effort to do so. I am adding this after the 3rd episode. This show is so bad that even the canned laughter sounds bored. How can a director seriously think this show is anything but awful. When he yells,"CUT" he should be referring to the film. I am done!

Factual Mistake
13 December 2019
Dillinger was killed on July 22, 1934 in Chicago. This is not a normally cold time in Chicago however Purvis and his men as well as others, were all wearing winter coats, or at least cooler weather coats. How this could have been missed surprises me.

One Is The Loneliest Number
11 October 2018
First, to say the acting was bad would be complimentary. Second, how any person would allow his/her name to be credited as writer AND director for this tripe goes well beyond comprehension. A fourth grade writing class is not enough to get into movies. As for the actors(?), does the word "WAITSTAFF" come to mind? I also find it hard to believe that a woman has a writing credit. Usually women have more class than to write something like this. Next, the name...RYDE. It should be called "How Many People Can I Kill in One Night?" I guess by now its understood that this is not my favorite movie. It's not even my favorite WORST movie. Does it contain a spoiler? The whole movie is a spoiler. It doesn't need me to help it along.

Mistake
2 October 2016
I want to apologize for an opinion that I wrote regarding "Designated Survivor." Not knowing the entire premise of the show and now knowing the real facts, I admit that I was way out of line writing what I did. Getting the true premise of what transpired, the show now makes a lot more sense. I must admit though that I still don't feel that I will be a fan of the show. Kiefer Sutherland still sounds like Jack Bauer and I had trouble with the son. He seems to think that the attack on the Capitol and the people in it who were killed is more an attack on his personal lifestyle than an attack on the United States. This is a character that I could never see myself liking.

Disappointed
23 February 2012
I have watched this show since it's inception and I loved it. Thought it was the best new sitcom to come to TV since 2 1/2 Men. HOWEVER, along came Sofi. Sorry creators, writers and CBS, but the character is not only not funny but as annoying a character to come along in a very long time.

The show was great the way it was. It didn't need her and I believe the show is about to suffer because of it. In my opinion it went from a 10 rating to a 7 and I expect it will continue to fall.

Usually new characters are not added until the show is on it's way down or leads decide to leave. After only 3 or so months this was not the case for this program. I hope someone will do something about it.
