Freaks and Geeks (1999)
A stroke of genius!
I can NOT believe it!!! I just "discovered" Freaks and Geeks and I gotta admit that at first it took me some time to get into it because I was kind of expecting a more broad, punchline based comedy but the more episodes I watched, the more I started to really dig this show AND to love the characters and I really mean LOVE! Except for Undeclared, there is not ONE TV show which develops such really and truly lovable characters. You start to feel for them in every step they take throughout the episodes. Freaks and geeks made me cry. It made me freak out. It made me jump around in my room.
That it got canceled just proves once more that no one realizes anymore what a good show is supposed to achieve. To create characters whose progression in their lives is worth watching. Just as Undeclared, which also got canceled after one season, this show is a stroke of genius which every fan of a good TV-show and yet every fan of something good at all, should watch.
And now I'm sitting here, disappointed that I will NEVER get to know how Freaks and Geeks could have continued. It's just good to know that the makers of this are still out there doing the best comedies around.

Not that bad...
No! This film is NOT bad. Might not be THAT good as well, but it wasn't bad at all. Jeremy Renners performance can truly be described as wonderful and touching. I also really liked the storytelling. It's far far away from anything a horror fan would expect, but I liked that it's very calm and slow. The directing was pretty good. For example that scene when Jeffrey's in that gay club and takes all those men to their room and has sex with them is really well shot.
Though I have to say, when it comes to minor characters, some of them were really bad. In terms of acting. That guy Dion Bosko, who played the first victim, played even worse than most bad actors I've seen before. Anyway, were these people really THAT stupid??? I mean, if it's true what the film shows about how Jeffrey got his victims to come home with him, it was, in some way, their own fault that they got killed. I mean, who would ever follow a weird guy home who buys you sneakers and wants to take pictures of you. I really hope that's just the movie, and the real Jeffrey had to do a little more work there. "Do you want to smoke some weed?" "Yeah sure" I mean... HELLO? Although the acting and the directing is good enough, to make you believe, at least a bit, that those people really were that stupid.
So, all in all, a good movie. If you don't expect a gory blood orgy, you won't be disappointed.
