Challengers (2024)
This isn't about tennis.
It's a well narrated story. Loved the music, but mostly how during the tennis games you get to experience different frames and shots as the player, the ball and as the audience. The director never disappoint (in my opinion). Is not a lineal story, which makes it even more interesting, because of the details and some of the events, that started long ago and are unfolding in the third act. Zendaya is convincing as Tashi and the male cast is also up to the task.
Things that I didn't like, sometimes the music (although right) was too loud and I missed some dialogs (Not dire if that was the purpose).
House of the Dragon (2022)
Going back to the seven realms
It is not GoT, and I still miss the deceiving and political plots we saw just in a few episodes of GoT. However, the story shed a light upon the history of the Targaryens, something that We just heard or saw in memories, personally I get to understand why the male Targaryens end up all crazy. It feels a bit like a soup opera, two ladies confronted, because one lied to the other about being a Virgin and all that it brings to those involved.
Of course, we have Dragons, and a civil war; hopefully this family feud will give us memorable events. And this first season can lift the expectations for the upcoming story.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
I like it so far.
It is visually stunning, and as I understand the story is not faithfully told as in the books, I feel it is well written , despite being a bit slow ( as if the stories of Tolkien were with a rapid pace), I believe it sets each character and main player in the unraveling of this fantastic story.
I don't feel the inclusion forced, after all it is a fantasy world given enough margen to the creators. The main characters remain as described, and their character development (so far) it is steady and interesting.
Hopefully the story takes us through the Middle earth so we get to see the previous times of the rings.
Lovecraft Country (2020)
Putting into perspective racial issues, within a fantasy-terror setting
Lovecraft Country is a well narrated story with a proper setup of events. I enjoyed the narrative and the mix between some of the afro-american history ( mostly unknown, for me) with the universe of LoveCraft.
I wanted to explore this world further, because I believe, the arc of many characters wasn't complete, Dee's development as well as Hypolita's, and the surviving characters of "Full Circle". Unfortunately, we won't be able to get a season 2.
