Immaculate (2024)
Great Value brand Rosemary's baby
Went to see this yesterday with a friend and the movie looked very interesting at first but suddenly devolved into an insipid, predictable version of Rosemary's baby, instead of having you psychologically at the edge of your seat you were presented with cheap jump scares and an uninteresting plot, why uninteresting? In horror movies the origin of the "evil" in the film is key, even when given in small doses which builds up to a reveal or the whole meaning of the film, but no, there's no real explanation as to what is happening in the end, just a wee-bit of an explanation as to "why" things are happening, but in the end it was an insipid horror movie, the ending is terrible, you never see the baby, just its "inhuman" cries (think antichrist baby from South Park's "Woodland Critter Christmas" episode) and you don't see anything after it's dispatched by the mom, no explanation as to why she did it (I mean, it's an abomination by the cries alone but the film NEEDED to have a better explanation of what was growing inside of her), I mean, Rosemary's baby explained very well what was going on, in this film it's OOPS you're pregnant with Jesus clone! And that's it.
High Guardian Spice (2021)
Bad with a capital "B"...
REALLY bland characters, uninteresting story, animation is lacking... wow, just wow, a cavalcade of bad everything, who green-lighted this thing?! There's nothing fun about this, it's basically watching the daily lives of uninteresting generic pastel colored characters with no real introduction to the purpose of the story or the main characters, not to mention they try to force-feed 'wokeness' into this mess instead of being inclusive organically by not making a big deal out of it (i.e. Pointing it out themselves), reminds me of the people who take photos of themselves giving money or food to the homeless for clout.
Resident Evil (2022)
Will there ever be a GOOD Resident Evil adaptation? Probably not...
When I heard Netflix was doing a Resident Evil remake we had little hope as fans of the games, Netflix seems to ruin everything it touches, either it's too woke, too far from the actual story or an amalgamation of both, Resident Evil is the latter and with no surprise and you get this from the first 30 minutes of the series, that it's going to be a painful ride from here on forward....
You know the main problem Netflix has? Not respecting the original characters and story from the source material. There's enough lore to make a movie out of it that would be exceptional, it's all Resident Evil fans wanted and as always they decide to say "no" like little children having a tantrum just to fill their agenda.
Should've just given it to Paul WS Anderson to write and direct, at least we could've predicted the pile of trash that was coming to our screens but with this new one it's like stepping on a fresh turd and getting a whiff from the freshly opened turd crust.
If you're not a fan of the games and don't know the real story, it might be enjoyable, but as a fan it's infuriating to see yet another failed Resident Evil adaptation, should've just called it "BOO! Zombie City" because it's just a generic zombie series with "Resident Evil" slapped on it.
