Our Flag Means Death (2022)
The Best Period Piece I've Seen in A Long Time
This show made me so happy. It was brilliantly and beautifully conceived, and the cast was monumental. I would recommend this to literally everyone, and if Our Flag Means Death doesn't get renewed, I worry for my faith in humanity.
Good Sam (2022)
Nothing new, but enjoyable.
Everyone else reviewing the show seems to have nothing but bad things to say about the show, but I've been enjoying it! The acting of the two leads is well done (Jason Isaacs is a legend), and the storyline is tired but still entertaining. The soundtrack is awesome, although I might be biased as a big fan of classical music, and the chemistry is there. The main issue is the script and non-realness of it all. I think if you got a heavy-hitter writing, it's be a huge hit.
Stonemouth (2015)
Fairly unsatisfying, but not the worst!
Brian Gleason was great, as well as all the older, veteran actors (save the mum). Storyline wasn't fleshed out nor was it compelling, and a better love story would have been Ferg and Stewart. Wouldn't rewatch, but I think I'm glad I did.
Starstruck (2021)
Perfect.
This is the best show I've seen all year, and I have seen A LOT. It made me laugh out loud, it made me tear up, and most of all it mad me feel happy. Starstruck is easy to watch (and keep watching) and I can't wait for the next season. Thank you, Rose Matafeo, you absolute legend.
Defending the Guilty: Pilot (2018)
Entertaining and nearly philosophical
Fun comedy with an underused setting for sitcoms. Characters are interesting, if not multifaceted yet. Soundtrack is fun, and I look forward to the next episode. All in all: a very solid pilot episode!
Alan Bennett's Talking Heads: An Ordinary Woman (2020)
Brilliant
Lancashire's performance and Bennett's words were riveting, thought-provoking, and quietly incredible. My only negative take-away is that it makes me quite terrified about having children.
