Give it a shot!
17 May 2021
I have read very negative reviews before I watched the first episode, and it does NOT reflect my own opinion of the show.

This is a quick-witted show with a constant underlying sarcastic comedy that may pass the heads of some viewers. The first episode of the show offered several different parts ranging from a musical perfomance, interviews and skits. The show has a modern comedic stance that deals with racism, feminism politics etc. I felt that it also made fun of the format of interviews and the out-of-context ways some parts of the entertainment industry twist words.

Also, they way they play with serious issues of the present day such the Karen-interview with Karen-named women was both fun, entertaining and makes a comment on the usage of a name to identify with a racial injustice.

Looking forward to the next episode!

Heads up for a Fantastic Fantasy Show!
26 April 2021
Coming into this without having read the book and having absoluely no clue what was about to happen this came as a positive surprise. I loved the aesthetic fashion of the world with gorgeous costumes, rather good special effects and a great music score! The casting is diverse and magnificent with most of the characters being REALLY good in their roles. Even though I started to get annoyed at Alina for being kinda dense and stubborn at first, she really grew on me. There is a feeling of wanting more backstory to some characters (and getting some further character developement overall) due to some leads getting thrown out without being answered.

Yes, it was kinda hard to be thrown into a whole new fantasy world with its own vocabulary without much information but I did enjoy it, in fact, I binged the whole show in one day!

As much as i would have loved to been able to explore more surrounding this universe, 8 episodes were exactly right for the overall plot. Hoping we get another season where we can follow the Crows and the rest some more!

Generation (2021)

I liked it!
12 April 2021
I'm confused about the amount of negative reviews of the show.

I liked the diverse casting and the quick cinematography. The chaos that some scenes deliviered contrasted from other scenes that were still and showed the inner emotions and turmoils of the teenagers. That being said, this is not really an everyday-sitcom series! It has a Gen-Z feel to it that makes it feel relevant to teenagers nowadays as well as incorporating issues of politics, gender, sexuality and race in the everyday life of the characters.

The series is fun with a diverse cast where all the characters have different personalities (some more chaotic than others) with each of them having their own troubles and struggles. If the series gets a second season, it would be nice to see how they develope the characters.

Whilst not being the best teenagedrama-series out there (if you even can say there is one series that can define all teenagers experiences) its one of the most interesting there is. Give it a chance!

A beautifully animated Disney movie that warmed my heart
7 March 2021
I would best describe this movie as an action movie. Yes, it does have quite some comedy and deepness surrounding themes of trust, but the general feeling of the movie is action. And i feel like the fast pacing is an advantage in this instance. The fighting scenes where great! They felt exciting and very well done and every fighting sequence had its own characteristic.

The characters are all very well thought out and the chemistry between Raya and Sisu is spectacular. All of the cast did an extremely well done job!

It was overall a visually extremely beautiful movie, with stellar animated fluidity in both characters and elements of nature (like the water, which looked wonderful!). The jokes suited both kids and adults, and in my family of all grown adults we all enjoyed the movie very much. The music was amazingly fantastic, and helped bring a deeper emotionality to the movie. In all honesty their decision of not making this a movie with singing-along parts was great!

The movie felt fresh with the elements of Disney needed :)

Fate: The Winx Saga (2021–2022)
5/10
It's OK unless you compare it to Winx
2 March 2021
So, as someone who watched the animated winx series through my childhood, this version is so far from the original Winx that it barely passes of. I binged the series and this is my take on it:

The things that really disappointed me during every episode of "Fate: The Winx Saga" is that they had to go the "dark and edgy" way with everything. I would have liked it more if the girls wore some of the colors (and even glitters) as in the cartoon. And the y2k/ 90s-throwback fashion is really in right now so i don't see any reason why they couldn't have gone for the more experimental and colorful way.

The OG Winx had a strong emphasis on the bond and friendship between the girlsquad, something that is missing in this version. I felt no friendship chemistry between the girls, more of a kinda forced relationship between girls sharing rooms. Every episode is unfortunately plagued with the characters (this being mostly Bloom) acting extremly selfish. It isn't until the last episode that it seems the girls actually are getting to know one another to become friends.

And what's up with the love triangle? In my honest opinion it felt like something that wasn't needed for the story. Alot of the story decisions seems to be based on "satisfying" to an young adult audience but instead they have created something kinda ridiculous they believe would be the epitome of a teenage drama (coming from me being 22 y/o). The romance between Sky and Bloom felt weird and forced. On top of that, the script/story probably wasn't helping the actors.

Not to mention the very unfortunate whitewashing of one of the only Latina representations in my childhood cartoons (as well as the case with Musa being asian in the OG cartoon).

Even if I had my troubles with the show, I did binge-watch it with ease. Since the story deviates so much from it's inspiration it was interesting to see where the story was leading. That being said, if you are going into this without any expectations from the OG story or just looking for something to watch while you've got nothing to do, this is probably great.

Ginny & Georgia (2021– )
9/10
Really good!
28 February 2021
I jumped in to this show expecting nothing. I was pleasantly surprised with both the intresting plot and characters. The show is both diverse in their casting *chef's kiss* and deals with themes of being biracial, fitting in and teenager/young adult-drama. The fact that the series also achieves to mix these issues in a dark setting with a mystery makes for a really good show. Switching the narrative between Georgia and Ginny is also a great decision!

That being said, there are some very unfortunate lines scattered throughout the show that sat wrong with me. If the writers could improve on some very awkward / illfitting choices for the next season that would be great!

Nonetheless, I very much recommend this!
