Made You Look: A True Story About Fake Art (2020)
Billionaires mad someone got one over them
Not to say Ann Freedman is not guilty, but she had a lot of support to think the paintings were real. Honestly, seems like there were a lot more reinforcing that the paintings were authentic than there were those that questioned it. I felt the De Sole's were more just pissed about wounded pride than seeing that maybe it was a mistake. No forgiveness for being human from them. And you can believe something, and then as evidence presents itself, realize you were wrong. Isn't that the way the brain is supposed to work? Regardless, who cares about rich people being ripped off - welcome to the club, jerks. At least you still have a roof over your head and food in the table.
Death to Smoochy (2002)
I love this movie
This movie gets a bad rap. Robin Williams is so hilariously over the top, it is one of his best roles. And with Norton playing a nice guy, it's a refreshing change of pace for him. Throw in Devito and Katherine Keener, you have one of the best comedies of the decade.
Hudson Hawk (1991)
I love this movie!
This movie came out when I was in high school and I and every single one of my friends loved it. I was so surprised years later to hear that so many people think it is terrible. I revisited it later, thinking maybe it just didn't hold up over the years, but no! It was incredible! My husband also loves it and we have watched it many times together. It is funny and silly and I think that's why the critics hate it. If you're still a child at heart, you will probably love it. If you are stuck up and too serious all the time, you will probably hate it. We love this movie so much, we are currently in Fes, Morocco and with our limited bandwidth, this is what we are going to watch!
Anna (2019)
Ugh.
This movie was ridiculous for so many reasons. The girl did a good job with what she was working with, but the constant "3 years ago, 2 hours later, etc" was so tedious. One flashback/forward is fine, but multiple shows someone can't tell a story properly. What a rambling mess. Also, the timing of the of all of the technology. I hate when people don't do their research - not even a simple "when was the Nokia cell phone created", much less copying files by osmosis (Wi-Fi hasn't been invented yet, so I'm assuming it had to be osmosis). Oh, and the KGB and the CIA are not exactly understanding when it comes to a smart mouth or "in so stressed - I need a vacation". The reality is you get a bullet in the head if you can't take the pressure. A weak "spy" is a threat to national security and a liability.
The Witcher (2019)
What in the holy hell is going on here?
I'm not a fantasy fan, but I loved GOT and this was supposed to be in that vein. Apparently, whoever produced this crap latched on to the fantasy/mystical aspect of GOT, but completely disregarded compelling storytelling, deep character development and making any damn sense. After episode 5, I had to have a serious discussion with myself as to whether or not I was just going to give up on this fool's errand or push through to see if any pieces would come together. I chose the latter and am not happy about it. I wish I would have spent those hours cleaning my kitchen instead. A few pieces of the story did start coming together, but not in any way that was interesting or satisfying. I understand they want to leave some reveals for future seasons, but not giving enough in the first season only ensures overall dissatisfaction and skipping future episodes. Yes, GOT always had big cliff hangers at the end of every season, but they gave the audience plenty of reveals and excitement to be satisfied enough to come back. If you don't like what you see in the first couple of episodes, be warned - it doesn't get any better.
