Handsome: A Netflix Mystery Movie (2017)
This is not a comedy
I was expecting comedy, because they said it will be one. But, this wasn't one. Comedies should be funny. This wasn't. Maybe it would be, if you see it high.
Plot bad, twists none, and humor attempts so desperate. Short appearance of Leah Remini was like she was blackmailed into it. Kaley Cuoco looked like she was passing by, and someone asked her for a favour. And Lyonne looked like she is acting through hangover. Only Weber looked convincing, but he always is when he plays sleazy character. The rest of them are good only to carry signs while striking.
Garlin, stick with Larry David, if you know what is good for you.
Seven Kings Must Die (2023)
Inadequate closure
They should have made it into last season, not the movie. Too many things not explained, too many characters brushed off. And it is useless as stand alone movie. Anyone who didn't see TV series shouldn't even bother with it.
I suppose it is better than leaving it without closure, but it would be so much better if they have done it as last season.
And why they didn't follow the books? There was no reason for this. If Netflix continues in this fashion, people will not bother with watching their stuff. No matter how good TV series might be, it is becoming as a rule they will mess up later development.
Oppenheimer (2023)
Worthy of numb backside.
I haven't been in the cinema much in last several years, but I wasn't sorry of 3 hours spent on it, and I'm glad I didn't wait for it to come to streams. I want to praise Murphy, but it wouldn't be fair to others, because all of them have done amazing work with this one. Answered so many questions I was always wondering about Manhattan project, about organization, and state of mind of these people. And how did they feel when they've seen results of it. It also shows how American politics can easily turn a hero into a villain, and how little common sense means in that surrounding.
Plus, with resurrection of cold war, we need something to remind us what kind of treat is hanging over our heads. Something that we have almost forgot.
How I Met Your Father (2022)
Such a waste of time
I really tried to give it a chance. 6 full episodes. If they've given half an effort to comedy, as they did to political correctness, it would be watchable. Actors look like they were forced into it. Zero acting effort. And writers shouldn't add this to their resumes, if they know what is good for them. All that fuss before launch, and than nothing, I wondered why. Well now I know. Haven't been this disappointed since "Night Watch".
And why Kim Cattrall? What did they hope they will gain with her as part of it?
It gives vibes that actors don't even talk to each other once cameras are off. Such a waste.
Eternals (2021)
As bad as DCU movies
I'm not sure, but this one could wrestle with Captain Marvel for position of worst Marvel movie. Very hard to tell which one is worse. Entire story is really bad. It is not fitting in Marvel universe, but this isn't fault of movie makers. However, everything else is. Long, yet so crammed. And effort of actors. I suppose Kumal Nanjani was supposed to be comic relief, but it didn't work. And I usually like his work.
And why the hell did they need Angelina Jolie in it? She was so non convincing.
Some of them were obvious, (yet, Korean Gilgamesh?), but story of others wasn't explained at all.
Maybe it was better to see it on big screen?
Inside Man (2022)
I can't give better marks
Such a good cast, and not a bad concept, but so badly executed. I suppose it was supposed to be something like "Silence of the Lambs", but logic follow up was so bad. So many gaps in the story, it seems like they have cut out so much, it feels unfinished. Particularly the end of it.
Character abilities and situation explanation is so badly done, it keeps you hoping until very end that there will be some sense in all of it.
And seems as realistic as Marvel characters. I mean, it wasn't enough that bloke on death row is being given tasks to solve from prison, but he is given possibility to shleph with him another one in order to be his living memory? Yet he is masterminding everything on another side of the ocean, through the telephone?
My Name Is Earl (2005)
Proper comedy.
Loved the thing. One of those where production don't need to point out when you need to laugh. And actors didn't look forced into it, as in most of tv comedy looks. It could have reached status of Friends, or Seinfeld, if they have continued.
I was very disappointed when they've stopped it.
Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)
What a pile...
This is better version? Then I'm glad I didn't watch first one. If I knew it is this bad, I wouldn't waste 4 hours on it. As in comics, DC is proving it's inferiority compared with Marvel one more time.
Veep (2012)
Solid show, great actors
Really nicely done, and it was nice satire when it was made. However, with changes in society and politics, it's looking a bit like documentary these days. It seems Kamala Harris is a big fan of it. Or maybe she think it is training video?
Anyway, great show.
Murderville (2022)
why is this so bad?
I've managed to through 1 and 1/2 episode, hoping something will be funny. Not a trace of humor. I've seen elementary school shows done better.
Why was this even made? Someone lost a bet?
The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window (2022)
This was supposed to be a comedy?
Folks, I don't know if this counts as a spoiler, however, I'll tell you that the ending is worse then title.
And definitely wasn't comedy. Not even a smirk.
Star Trek: Picard (2020)
Not as bad as expected
Definitely better than "Star Trek Discovery". Better story, better actors, better setup. After first episode, I was expecting same stuff, but no, tit picked up later on. This is watchable. And I'm far from being Trekie, so no fanaticism in this review.
The Magnificent Seven (2016)
Rather watchable
Good movie, but not as good as original. Even further from originals original.
In the days of original political correctness, there are much worse "corrections". If we wouldn't know this is one of those works, and if it was original, probably would have higher score.
But, still, not a waste of time like other "corrections".
Cowboy Bebop (2021)
Solid fun
I had fun watching it. I wasn't watching original anime, but this is not that bad. Although it is made according towoke standards, still, entertaining enough. And that isn't easy to achieve. Too bad Netflix cancelled 2 season, because I would watch it. God knows Netflix is showing worse stuff that this one.
Red Notice (2021)
Waste of time
Yes, it could be worse. But Ryan, Green Lantern wasn't your worse movie any more. As for other two, who cares. Johnson isn't actor anyway, and this is right up Gadot's level of acting. It is more entertaining to watch Seinfeld for 7th time, then this.
Troll Bridge (2019)
Brilliant.
Pay attention BBC America, this is how Pratchett's work should be filmed.
David Knight, thank you for this. So far, you are only one proven worthy of Discworld.
The Watch (2020)
Sad and discusting
If there is any justice in this world, whoever is creator of this rubbish, should do jail time for this as a crime against humanity.
I hope they live in interesting times.
Killing Eve (2018)
Getting worse
In 3rd season they are loosing themselves. Bloke is stabbed in Poland, and they take him to hospital in London. Girl is stabbed in Temisoara, and she is bleeding in hers apartment in Barcelona. They usually switch between cities just like that, but that is a bit much.
Dave Chappelle: The Closer (2021)
This man is brilliant.
This is Chappelle at his finest. I just hope it is not true that this is his last one.
Jojo Rabbit (2019)
This is brilliant movie, and Metacritic has lost all credibility.
Only movie that has reached "La Vita E Bella" level of brilliance, yet managed to be its own uniqueness.
Folks, see it, you will not be sorry. Unless you are jealous movie critic.
Friends (1994)
I wish there is something else like this
In last 20 years, I think I've seen them all 4 times. It helps to take your mind off cruel reality, and wishing that we can live like they did.
Tropic Thunder (2008)
Solid movie
I'm not a big fan of Stiller or Black, but this is watchable.
Dad Stop Embarrassing Me (2021)
So bad.
I haven't seen such a bad TV comedy show since 80's. What happened to Foxx? Is he broke, or something?
I've stopped on second episode, because it wasn't digestible.
And I was hoping Netflix will finally have proper comedy show, but failure, as usual.
Get Shorty (2017)
Very solid and watchable show.
I've bumped into it on HBO GO, and I have to say, true surprise. On whole channel, among all that garbage there is maybe 10 good tv shows (for a gods sake, they have just added "Friends", presenting it as a new thing), and this is one of them.
I hope they will go for 4rt season.
Seam (2017)
Wonderful stuff.
Brilliant SF. Why these short SF films are always so much better then long, big studio movies. I've seen it today, on DUST Youtube channel, with many similar ones, and most of them are gold.
