Hindustan Ki Kasam (1999)
Between OK and bad
The starting portions of this movie can be misleading as it starts off rather well. The scene where the guy jumps of a plane and does all sorts of stuff in the air actually looks realistic beyond belief! I've really have'nt seen such a realistic scene in an Indian film and it looks well beyond any blue screen effort.
Unfortunately the movie quick degrades after that with crappy acting and crappy plot. Some corrupt general in Pakistan wants to assassinate the PM and our heroes have to save him and the day. No one likes an Indo-Pak peace movie, especially a cheap, cheesy and ridiculous movie like this. Its bad enough that with two brothers growing up on two different countries, one has to equate an elephant with a cockroach but does it really had to be this badly done?
Freddy vs. Jason (2003)
Much better than I expected
No one really expects a Vs movie to be anything good and Freddy vs Jason may initially seem as yet another half assed effort resulting in a major flop. Surprisingly, this movie was actually well implemented for the most part. Freddy fights quite realistically and effectively with his hands against Jason even though it would be difficult for one to actually imagine how that would'nt seem ridiculous? You have to see it to believe it. This is very much the same Freddy from the past. And so is Jason. Then of course, there's plenty of blood and gore. The story and plot themselves are not bad. Honestly, this movie actually is good and worth watching, at least to see Jason and Freddy take on each quite realistically.
Batman Begins (2005)
This movie is a piece of crap
This is the only Batman movie where the villains are not just complete losers but are also completely pointless. How can even begin to compare a mostly non-existent Scarecrow to the Joker in the first movie? The first half was pretty decent if not extremely unrealistic and highly questionable. At the end, there are too many things thrown together, making little sense. Its all one big bloody mess. There is no real plot in this movie.
Bruce Wayne's character was completely ruined by bad acting not to mention ridiculous scenes. As batman, he did little fighting and comes out as a complete idiot. In one scene where Katie Holme's character pepper sprays someone, Batman is seen molesting...er...fighting in the background. It really does look like molestation. The second half of this movie is atrocious and total crap. The sets used are also crap.
King Kong (2005)
Minor flaws
I don't know why certain losers complain so much about the first half of this movie. It was certainly more polished and subtle than what I expected from Jackson and it was truly amazing. As the build up to the chaos that occurs on the island, it really works.
Peter jackson has really outdone himself through this effort. The tension that certain scenes built up were truly amazing. There are only a few flaws in this movie and those are basically bad CGI effects used for some dinosaurs, especially the ones that stampede. Their designs could have also been a little more refined to make them look a little more realistic. Otherwise, this movie is fantastic and is an absolute must watch.
Rang De Basanti (2006)
Good message. Stupid film.
Now all of us should commend RdB for the bold initiative in putting forth the idea of what the common citizen of India would like to do to every..cough...democratically elected...cough...politician. The movie was quite influential to the point that the political scum really need to worry about their safety. Having said all that, there is really nothing in this movie itself besides that which is worth mentioning. Its the standard Bollywood fare of singing, dancing, religion related fighting and a look at the past freedom struggle from the British. All that changes when one of the friends gets killed in an air crash, attributed to low quality spares approved by corrupt politicians. The heroes thus go and kill a politician in broad daylight. The obvious happens and they are hunted down and killed by counter terrorist squads. The end.
Mumbai Matinee (2003)
Drags but is interesting
The way this movie starts off doesn't inspire much confidence and at times, it can look and get pretty boring. However, as events go on, the plot gets more and more interesting. Rahul Bose as the sex starved loser in life, acts brilliantly and seems natural. There isn't really anything spectacular, anything outstandingly new or fresh in this movie but a an effective cast of characters make life for our hero, an absolute hell. However, once all of this has happened, the movie has already gone on for too long and when the situation hits rock bottom for Bose, he gets suddenly rescued. That is the only part of the movie which is a bit far fetched. There are plenty of witty remarks and incidents too.
