it was very upsetting

This movie was good, acting was excellent, filming was excellent and you are quickly drawn into the story so that all around you is no longer there. Yet when you see the things that happen to this poor girl your eyes don't want to stop watching but in the back of your mind you're thinking why? Then you remember during portions of this movie that it was based on actual events and when the credits roll you're hit with this overwhelming since of sadness and grief that makes you want to tell your parent or parents that you love them and that you're thankful for them. While your mind processes what you've just seen it's hard because it's so shocking and real and you want to shout at the top of your lungs SAVE THIS GIRL! I guess it could just be me but it had powerful emotional effect on me. I've seen other movies about true stories but other than Schindler's List nothing had such an impact until now. There was a Lifetime movie that made me angry and sickened me that turned out was fictional that I wished they would have said before the movie began its not based on actual events. My advice is if you think you can handle the emotions you'll feel after this movie then watch it. If you don't think you can, then watch it with another person. The overall sad and disturbing fact was this movie was based on a true story. I guess that makes it all the more scary.

gore, bore, roller coaster
4 August 2006
at first I was falling half asleep. then it picked up and started to get exciting. Then it turned into the slowest stupidest murder/ perverse movies. Boring again, exciting, now back to boring. I don't think i'm interested in watching it all the way. But then just when I think it's not worth watching the excitement picks up. What is this a roller coaster? Oh my word the dialog in this movie just is so weird. The Cops were just as stupid! I'm not sure what to make of this movie except NO KIDS UNDER AGE 18 should watch! If this is based on a true story I'm sure the real people were not as dorky in what they did.

Well watch if you want but don't be surprised if it makes you confused too.

I can't stop watching it
2 August 2006
Like most horror movie covers, it drew me in i was like ooh this looks good. Its an okay story that if in the hands of a modern director would have been good. It won't make you spill popcorn all over the floor, but it won't put you to sleep either. towards the end it gets really good, but the middle will make you a little impatient. It was better than Dream Home and Rosemary's Baby. It didn't quite spook me like The Blair Witch Project. Judge for yourself because I am one of those people who prefer a good can't get it off my mind scare that makes me turn all the lights on in the house. That and I just don't take to well to the oldie Scary movies and other related scare tactics. I'm not saying don't watch it. I'm saying judge for yourself.

I stayed awake, but...

I felt the movie itself would have been good if the director had really tried to focus on making a good movie. Low budget is probably what they were using. It was an excellent story for a horror movie and could have been a great horror movie. Ghost stories that aren't gory are my favorite types of movies. The movie could have been up there with The Ring, or The Grudge but it seemed like a high school video project instead of a "real movie." The plot of the story was good--but the stiffness of the acting and the lame dialog was laughable. Even though it had a certain creepiness factor, it was actually a challenge to continue watching it to the end. Maybe it will rank with the cult classics for dumb horror stories. I'll give it some points for surprising me at the end, though.

This movie put the Horr in Horrible

If I wanted to rent a movie with lots of sex and cuss words in it I would have rented a porno. This movie was a terrible example of horror. I was disgusted by the way it had mostly gore and sex, but lacked the horror essential. I'm sure that the boys will like this film, especially the single ones who are very hormonal. But when you want a scare this is not for you. This is just as bad as House of 1000 corpses and The Village. I can't believe that the director allowed this to be filmed. Don't they watch these things before they make it to view in theaters. Rider Strong is lucky to be cute other wise I wouldn't have continued to watch it. If you want to fall asleep watch this then the Libertine. Waste of money personally. one of the 100 greatest horror movies, yeah right!
