One Life (2023)
Real Super Heroes
There should be some unique award for people like Nicholas Winton because there are not to many brave men like him who refuse to conform to a standard belief that nothing can be done or it's always someone else's problem.
Czechoslovakia and Hitler then, Ukraine and another madman today. This film should be on every school's curriculum and let's hope Anthony Hopkins and Johnny Flynn get Oscar awards for their portrayal of Nicholas Winton.
It would have been really good if at the end of the film they had shown the actual That's Life footage that is featured in this film.
As the old saying goes; 'The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing'.
Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One (2023)
Far too much CGI
Considering Tom Cruise goes to so much effort to do his own stunts why then go and ruin a movie with so much CGI and fake car chases seems.
The car scene are as fake as Fast & Furious and thus just starts making the movie seem like a cartoon.
The motorcycle jump that has has much hype just looks really fake so why all that effort just to create a dud scene.
Bud Ekins motorcycle jump in The Great Escape was a million times better cinematic experience than Tom Cruise's CGI'd to death jump in this MI film.
Once upon a time Tom Cruise stood for great great movies with believable action scenes whereas now hmmm starting to feel like Steven Seagull films just with more CGI.
Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
Appallingly Terrible
Given the budget and the time it's taken for this sequel it is just terrible.
The story is utterly limp and the film just seems to be an expo of CGI technology.
Thank goodness I've watch it at home be I dread the thought of being stuck in a cinemas just wondering how long to give this movie before quoting and walking out.
Let's bear in mind that the Marvel team had to rewrite the Black Panther Wakanda Forever story in a very short space of time yet Cameron has had years and years to come up with a half decent story yet this story was just drivel that looked like is a very brief session where a group of writers were just asked how can we expand on the Avatar theme.
Save your money and your time and go watch a different movie.
The Chemistry of Death (2023)
Horrendously bad
Without spoiling this for anyone it's littered with factual errors in how crimes would be investigated and horrendously bad medical errors.
On top of this the acting from several of the cast including the lead actor is really wooden. The story itself is slow and boring.
The series could actually be renamed CSI Boring it is that bad. The continuous flashbacks to the lead actors deceased family just gets boring and whoever writes this stuff clearly underestimated most viewers ability to grasp very quickly what the writer takes ages to try and build a picture to the story.
From episode 3 there are some occasion nice scenic shots but those are ruined with every return to the wooden acting.
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 5: Return of the Mandalorian (2022)
Mediocre series just went lightspeed
The Boba Fett series has been slow and lacking any magic until Episode 5 which is more like a Mandalorian Season 3 teaser. Enough said without spoiling it for others.
The Suicide Squad (2021)
Really good fun
Easy going simple fun which was seriously needed after the disaster that was Black Widow.
My Octopus Teacher (2020)
Mesmerizing
This film should be shown in every school in the world in a cope that one day no one will hunt or eat these cats of the sea.
La cabina (1972)
Scariest Film Ever
Do you think it's impossible to disappear in broad daylight?
La Cabina is the film that would just appear on daytime TV in the 70s and 80s and it's demonstrates how you could just disappear of the face of the earth with hardly anyone recognising you are in simple but deadly danger.
This film teaches you a lesson for sure :-)
Dead Reckoning (2020)
Oscar nomination
This film is so bad it should win multiple Oscar Awards. Why do actor agree to ruin their reputation by being in such crepe films? When your script says 'In a dodgy east European accent' any actor should run a mile.
I can't think of a worse film than this :-)
Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017)
Complete drivel
Disney seem to think that they can't make any other type of film and with this latest Star Wars they achieved the ultimate sin in destroying Jedi.
Everyone knows that Jedi learn to contain their emotions yet here Rae is pumped up on Disney emotions like all the other terrible Disney stuff like Pirates on the Caribbean.
Since when did a Jedi get so emotional?
Finn is very much the same, so much so he is like a girls blouse with his emotions.
For me the whole Star Wars main storyline started to die with the umpteenth sane plot of the Resistant needing to take down a new Death Star weapon and when Princess Leia start floating in space you know that this has just turned terrible.
Mandalorian was fairly good however there's been nothing decent in the Star Wars theme since Rogue One.
Disney should have followed how Bat Man developed from a cartoon into a dark action thriller whereas Disney are undoubtedly planning a return for Ja Jar Binks :-(
The Gentlemen (2019)
Charlie Hunnam For 007
This is like a Layercake sequel except the music score in Layercake was far better.
However it's a brilliant film that's possibly only missing a Dexter Fletcher character.
Layercake was the springboard for Daniel Craig becoming 007 and I think Charlie Hunnam has just put himself in line for being Craig's successor to the James Bond role.
