Original and the best
18 August 2021
The one that started them all. The first and in my opinion, the best. Won't be to everyone's taste and is more a product of the 80's but it doesn't stop it being hilarious.

Loved it then and still do to this day.

Paperthin story but that doesn't matter in the slightest. I remember watching this with my school friends and at the time we thought this was risqué.

Kids today won't get it, but for the old kids like me, you won't go wrong in watching this again and remembering a time when things didn't matter half as much.

Biggles to the Future
7 September 2020
Very much a film of the 80s. Having never read a Biggles book, I can't comment on the "detail" of Biggies. However I am aware the time travel element has niggled some people. But it was the 80s. It's a silly romp that is a perfect time filler. Don't expect much, but you will he entertained. Very much an 80s film that when I was a kid, never got the chance to see. So I saw this film with very much adult eyes and I loved it and I purchased the dvd for next to nothing. Cheesy dialogue, cheesy 80s soundtrack all the way. Tally Ho, old boy

When I left you, I was buy a learner, now I am the master

Warning: Spoilers
For me, this is the move of the 70s and my childhood. And still is to this day. A brave and almost unknown writer and director, with a vision and drive to see it through. The Sci Fi flick as old as time itself, good guys rescue a princess from the bad guys, with a help of a wizard. But with great characters, played by many relatively unknown actors who fleshed out their roles to become the world wide icons they are today. Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher, stand out as the main players, ably supported by Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker and Peter Mayhew as the masked heroes. They are matched, in almost supportive roles by legends Alec Guinness and Peter Cushing. To the ultimate bad guy, Dave Prowse as Darth Vader, a man I had the pleasure of meeting, just after Empire had been released, as 8-9 year old SW fan, I was a little star struck. With a great script and defining musical score, it still stands the test of time. It also has pioneering special effects that at the time, were just mesmerising. I was 5 years old when it first came out, now 48 and for me its still as huge as it was then. I can vividly remember being turned away from the cinema first time round as it was a sell out. THE only time in my life this has ever happened. I have to say for many Star Wars has become almost a religion in itself. It is bigger now than what it ever was. I have a copy of the original, unaltered film, which in some respects I can see why George Lucas wanted to make some changes, however there are some things that should have been left alone. Han always shot first. For the few that haven't seen this, switch everything off, get comfy and swept away by this saga. May the Force be with you ....

THE film that defined the tough cop action movie
5 August 2020
This is the film that people of a certain age watched as kids in the 70s/80's. On a vcr with your mates. It is Clint at his best, the story, casting, direction and action set pieces are all flawless. The tough guys of the 80's, Stallone, Arnie, Segal and Van Damme, to name a few all owe a large chunk of their careers to Clint in his role as Harry. Also a shout out to Andy Robinson, as Scorpio, acting just like you want your mad villains to be. One of the very first videos I owned in the 80's and having just watched it again, still holds it worth now. Brilliant and still brilliant. Go ahead....

You're gonna need a bigger boat

45 years later, this film still has the power to entertain. Loved this film since I was a kid. Flawless acting, direction and production values. Even the big rubber shark has some appeal. My Nan used to say, they don't make em like that anymore. With Jaws she was right
