Goodbye, Miss 4th of July (1988)
Very touching drama
I was shocked when I saw this on the Disney channel. It is a very good drama and It shows the hatred and sorrow that racism can bring. It would be a good movie for parents to watch with their kids. Roxana Val plays Niki, a girl who has immigrated to the US from Greece with her parents, during a war in Europe. They reside in a small town in West Virginia, one where the Ku Klux Klan thrives. Niki is apauled by the way the Klan treats certain people, simply on the means of their race, color, religion, or background. When she tries to befriend some African-Americans, the Klan rallies against her and her family. She dosn't quit though, and with the help of her friends Alma (Chynna Phillips) and Henderson, she dosn't let the Klan's threats stop her, and she vowels to try and stop the racism in the town. Great Movie, 8/10
Salute Your Shorts (1991)
One of the only good Nickelodeon Shows
I can't imagine how a once reasonably good network can go so bad. Nickelodeon used to appeal to a variety of audiences, and not just children. Salute your Shorts was probably the best show that "Nick" ever came up with, even though there were only 2 or 3 seasons. I would still watch it today if they would play some re-runs. But that brainless network wouldn't dare interrupt the idiotic Amanda Show and Slime Time live. Salute your Shorts was and is my favorite TV show, and it will probably always will be. I'm almost embarrassed to say that it was once aired on Nickelodeon.
Scooby's All Star Laff-A-Lympics (1977)
Great Hanna-Barbera show
If you like old cartoons, this one is is perfect for you. It features mostly all of the Hanna-Barbera characters in an "Olympic" style setting. There are 3 teams: The Yogi Bear's, the Scooby Dooby's, and the Really Rottons. Each episode, the individual teams try to win enough events to get the gold metal. The Really Rottons hardly ever win, because they mainly resort to cheating. If you like old Hanna-Barbera cartoons, check this one out. I think it may still be playing on Cartoon Network.
