Can't ignore the poor casting
3 March 2024
What's up with the casting for this movie?! Right from the start, it screams low budget. You have a rich white couple with a dark complected cute kid with an obvious latin accent! His accent is rather thick actually and it is impossible to ignore. How could anyone not notice the accent? I just looked him up and he is in fact Puerto Rican. At this point, I'm only 15 minutes in but I'm bailing before I regret it later. It's too bad because the storyline seemed great and I love the actor from captain Phillips. He deserved so much more than this piece of garbage. I also love any good thriller on the water:(

Elsa narrates again?!
12 January 2023
I was soooo excited about this show and I'll continue to watch but why on earth are we tortured yet again with the cheesy Elsa narration?! How can you have the most stellar cast and beautiful landscape but feel the need to have her narrate again. She's the reason I couldn't stomach the other show! Helen Mirren is my she-ro and Harrison Ford is a force. I'll change my rating later but for now I'm pissed I have to listen to her narrate again. I'm from the south and her accent is terrible-sounds forced and totally corny. It takes away from the quality of the show and I'm surprised theyre using her again. Bah humbug!

Ridiculously bad!
9 January 2023
When it first started I was super excited to see all the stellar British actors I've loved so much over the years. My excitement was short lived though as soon as Emily Hampshire showed up. Who thought casting her in a lead role amongst all of these terrific Brit actors made a lick of sense?! Her weird slick back pony tail hairdo, pursed lips and gobs of make up didn't go at all with the scene. They're on a damn rig in the middle of the ocean for gods sake. And the story line is totally bizarre, the special effects are low rate, the script is terrible. Could've been so much better with a cast like that. Oh and I don't understand the ending at all, no idea what just happened but I really don't care.

Final episode ruined it! Horrible!
3 January 2023
What did I just watch?! I mean there were so many moments throughout the series where I found myself hitting FF but the last episode was the topper. It had a chance to redeem itself in the end but instead it was a ridiculous ending full of plot holes and silliness. The actress who played Nathalie Varga was very hard to watch at times, her personality was totally one dimensional which made her a very boring character. James Darcy's partner/boss was great and it's a shame she didn't play a bigger role. Please save yourself some time and stress because you will be really irritated with the ending. I feel cheated!

Violent Night (2022)

A new Christmas classic!!!!
11 December 2022
Absolutely shocked at how great this movie was! For some reason the ad and the trailer had me thinking this was much more violent and dark than it really was. It was gory for sure but it was silly type gore. The little girl in the movie was fantastic and I look forward to seeing her in other films. Thank god they gave her some truly funny lines and she killed it! What a versatile little actress. And there was a sweet underlying story there about the true meaning of Christmas along with depicting santa as a real guy with plenty of flaws! I laughed from the beginning to the end and I plan on seeing this one again. What a terrific little surprise this movie was. 100% staying on our Christmas classics list next year!

Perfect opportunity wasted
30 November 2022
Why did the interviewer never challenge Casey? I sat through the entire series waiting for the interviewer to ask good questions but she never did. What a shame. This was purely a platform for Casey to tell more lies and get sympathy. She walked free all these years with no real justice given to that poor child and now Peacock gives her the stage. People unfamiliar with the case will actually think she might be innocent. I'm a mother and i can't imagine parting for a month while my child was missing but that's just it-she knew she was dead. George is weird but I'll never believe he caused her death. This series was cringe worthy.

Worst movie I've ever seen.

Warning: Spoilers
This was the most moronic, pretentious piece of garbage. I would've left the theatre but I was afraid the two people I was with liked the movie and I didn't want to ruin it for them....but I was wrong! They both said it was terrible. There are a few funny lines in the movie but there are no sympathetic characters, everyone is full of crap, the funny scenes really aren't that funny, the story line is pointless(no explained motive for their actions), and last but not least it's super gory. That was something I wasn't prepared for from the previews. I assumed it was more comedic and had no idea it was pretty much a horror film with all the blood & guts to show for it.

Beautiful scenery but morose & boring
10 October 2022
I love Emily Watson and I love most Irish films but this was like nails on a chalk board irritating. The background music ruins it for me. The subject matter is dark & depressing but I honestly think I could've handled it if it weren't for the horrendous soundtrack. I usually like anything filmed by the seaside. There are no likable characters and I found myself fast forwarding halfway through the movie just to get to the point. If I didn't pay $6.99 to rent this, I wouldn't have bothered haha. The acting is excellent though and the scenery is great but boy is this a hard movie to like. No thanks to the music!

So weird and incredibly slow
19 April 2022
What's with the gigantic creepy pupils on Emilia Fox sporadically throughout the film? I get it was a tactic to make her seem extra crazy but they were so bizarre and over the top. There were so many loose ends at the end and the story drags on way too long. I had to fast forward through a good portion of it. Very weird movie indeed.

Season 1&2 were great, Season 3 is a snore!
18 March 2022
I was so excited to see this show was back for Season 3! Unfortunately it's boring. The woman who replaced Lisa seemed pretty interesting the first few minutes but she quickly because very dull, one dimensional & flat. I couldn't care less what happens to any of the people in the show(it's that boring). The saddest part is the fact that they have a few good actors in the show but unfortunately they have very few liners. I love Gary Lewis but so far he's only had a few lines and I'm almost done with episode 2. Sadly I don't think he can save the show and I'm done with it. It's already taken me a few days to get through these two episodes. I'm giving the show 6/10 here but the first two seasons were excellent. The low rating is for season 3:(

Painfully slow
12 February 2022
What a snore fest! I literally fast forwarded through at least 1/3 of it. Maybe more. Way too much melodrama for me and not much about the aliens. The most interesting thing about the series was the dynamic between the bully kid and Caspar. Now that was decent acting and a good story. The rest of it was painful. No idea why they felt dragging each scene out was necessary and I agree with another commenter about sam Neil. Where the hell was he?! He was played up so much in the promos but he is barely in the series! And what the help happened in the end?! I have no idea and I honestly don't care enough to find out.

10 minutes is all I can take!
23 January 2022
The overly whitened straight teeth on the women, the piles of make up, fake eyelashes, freshly manicured brows and curls. I just can't take this seriously. No matter how amazing Sam Elliot is. Not to mention the super corny narration by the girl. Yikes!!!!

What is this mess?!
18 October 2021
5 minutes left in the first episode and I can't even finish it. The acting is awful! The teenagers are decent actors, Annebelle Gish & the sheriff are good but the rest are terrible. The parents of the drunk driver are so weirdly cast! They seem to be the same age as the son but I looked them up to be sure and I was right. They aren't too far apart in age and I have no idea why they were cast like that. The Jesus freak lady(Bev) is so corny and I see here someone compared her to the Jesus freak in the Mist...not even close. That lady was great! I hated Hill House so I guess I shouldn't be surprised I don't like this. Lots of great reviews though so I guess it's not for everyone.

I see purchased the EPIX subscription for this?!

15 min into this and I can't find one nice thing to say. The acting is horrendous, Adrian Brody whispering is awful-just highlights the bad acting. Everything seems very cliche and cheesy. Can't believe they couldn't find better actors. Adrian Brody is a good actor but not here! Too bad because I usually like period pieces, anything Stephen king, etc. It doesn't take much to win me over but this one is a joke.

Right down the toilet. Wish I could Unwatch this. What a shame to end it like that. No sympathetic characters whatsoever aside from Mercy the maid but they never tell you what happens to her. The ending was a real let down-dont watch it.
