Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Great potential and Great failure.
Pros:
- You will never see another movie like this.
- Insanely creative imaginative complex beautiful
- visually stunning
- Mind opening scientific ideas
- Great Acting
- Great Directing
Cons:
- all the pros are completely demolished by the lack of depth in MEANING.
What do I mean? The audience is left shorthanded in the end behind every great scene, every great sci-fi idea, every great action, the answer to "why is this happening?" is always insubstantial and frankly dumb.
If I could sum up this movie in one metaphorical sentence: It's like buying a five star restaurant then finding out it's filled with incompetent garbage chefs. So does that really make the restaurant five star or garbage? Isn't a restaurant as good as its chefs? Just like isn't a movie as good as its message? Hence my rating.
If I could sum up this movie in one literal sentence it would be: Asserting the idea that the infinite Cosmos, and infinite possibility of our existence, all of life and all of the Creation, all the time effort energy matter was all made for the sole purpose of advancing the United State's leftist political agenda. (And no I am not left nor right nor even an american nor do I take any solid position in anything. I'm just a human observer watching a movie. Resist the urge ti put me in a box lol)
I mean the literal quote they use in the ending of the movie and throughout is "nothing matters". It's as if they are only looking at the chaotic part of all Creation but forgetting to also see the orderly part of all Creation. I mean creation is both chaotic and orderly at the same time. And saying things like "Be kind especially when you don't know what's going on". Well if you don't know what's going on then shouldn't you be neither kind nor mean. Your assuming kindness is always answered with kindness. That is equally as dumb as assuming unkindness is always answered in unkindness.
This movie wants to pretend it is being open minded when really it is just taking an extremist position just like any other boring bias movie. It had so much potential...that's what will disappoint you the most.
Uncharted (2022)
Dialogue ruined it
Whoever wrote the dialogue has to be the laziest sum b ever. Hah. I mean really? The same nun joke 4 times in a row? Just so so bad. Cringy. If the dialogue was half decent the rating would have definitely easily been 7 instead of 5. Easily. And That's my only complaint.
It's just a fun laid back adventure movie, plot is fun and the visuals are cool. The concept of fighting in two ships in the air is creative.
Not an Oscar level movie just a chill movie for people that don't take movies too seriously.
Ali Wong: Don Wong (2022)
The old one is much better
Can be summarized by the following:
- 50% men can't do anything right. Women are superior to men in every way imaginable, sexually, financially, physically etc. You name it.
- 40% of the show is her describing her privates and s** in unnecessary explicit ways that really don't add to the comedic effect.
- 8% about how she wishes she could cheat on her husband
- 2% actually funny jokes
Name me one female comedian that doesnt focus on these areas. The only reason I liked her was because she didnt play into that stereotype and was actually funny without resorting those desperate cheap tricks.
Being a woman I personally don't find it funny to look down on men. I see men and women as equal in value plus it's just SO redundant for the past 15 years. But maybe that's some people's thing which is fine because it's comedy so anything goes. Just prepare yourself for less than what you expected before watching.
Bandslam (2009)
Had potential but hate protagonist
Who yells at someone who just lost their father? I don't like anything about the protagonist from beginning to end. He's just entitled and annoying. If they replaced that character with someone actually likeable I would give it maybe a 7 rating.
The Luminaries (2020)
Terrible
The stupidest show ever. Complicated plot for nothing. It's not even intelligently complex. It's just plain dumb. The complexities have no purpose. Drags on with depressing events over and over again, giving viewers literally nothing to look forward to. I mean this show has no positive outcome at ANY point. Why would anyone come back to watch this? The viewer has nothing to look forward but negative outcomes. No up and downs. Just downers.
It's a real shame too it clearly has potential. Great actors, great foundation, some intrigue, but ultimately just plain depressing and BORING. My God.
Couldn't even make it till the end of the season because it's so depressing and pointless. I watched till the end of episode 4. Which was already much more than it deserves. Until I just thought "why the hell am I torturing myself. Live is way too short to waste one minute on this pile of rubbish."
Wolf Like Me (2022)
I thought it was a satire
Not exaggerating. I knew it was a comedy, but after watching the first episode I swear it looked like a satire. That's how bad the acting is at times. I mean the plot is definitely fun and new. But I'm not sure but it seems to me the actors are really bad. It's weird. I don't know it feels really off. Maybe they're just better off acting in comedies with no drama, as they usually do. Not sure if anyone else had the same experience as me!
Deadly Class (2018)
Extremely one sided political agenda
Extremely one sided political agenda. Dystopian bs. Contradicting notions which make no sense. And all together useless tv show that Just encourages young adults wrong and superficial concepts. So of course this is a Netflix original :)
Altered Carbon (2018)
Amazingly creative sci-fi concepts but immature plot
This is definitely something to watch. Amazing visuals, and sci-fi concepts are original or at least very rarely seen before. And the plot also has so many twists which is of course the best!
That being said the non-sci-fi concepts are very immature. The ones that come to mind are the ideas around religion, which I found very one dimensional, the ideas of sex which are also funny to think that after human beings have evolved to see and feel I'm a collective conscious mind that we would not also evolve in our sexual interests...but I guess I could be forgiven. Lastly, the ideas around AI having human like feelings etc is also very unrealistic and more of a marvel-like fantasy than sci-fi.
So good show, watch it, super creative and original, but don't get too attached to the deeper concepts.
Death to 2021 (2021)
Politics doesn't belong in Hollywood
Wasn't google sued for having bias search results and left leaning adds. I don't think you can call what you have a democratic country anymore if your social medias and Hollywood movies and shows both strongly encourage leftist propaganda. Information is power and not everyone has access or financial means to an education so this is definitely messed up. Stay out of politics let people make up their own mind.
Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020)
Terrible. Who wrote this and why do they hate Harley Quinn
Just bad. The excessive narrating, without letting any suspense build up or allowing the viewer to figure it out on their own. The boring character backgrounds, the God awful dialogues. They even managed to soften Harley's character when she was supposed to be a badass. All and all a boring plot. Unoriginal. But worst of all the excessive and unrealistic misogynistic lines from the secondary male characters are just not realistic and ruin the whole scene. The ending is cool and fun though. So there's that I guess.
Interstellar (2014)
The best movies ever made.
How is this not the #1 best movie of all time on imdb's list? What can top this?? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Think about it. There's nothing that can top this. Try and find another movie, impossible!
If you've seen it you're lucky. If you haven't seen it you're also lucky you get to have such a soul bending experience. This is the future. Made with the contribution of many real life professionals in the field. Neil degrass Tyson said it came the closest in terms of accuracy! It is not only mind blowing but very much within the realm of possibility! And! They managed to put in a twist ending. As we know all the best movies of all time have a twist ending. You can verify this.
This movie has it all.
The Nevers (2021)
It's complicated...
First, production and special effects is 10/10. Hands down. Visually very impressive.
Acting is also convincing 9/10. Sometimes they talk too fast but not a big deal.
The plot however is missing substance. The plot and writing is a 6/10 which really brings down the whole rating considering the story is the heart of anything we watch. Or at least for me it is..
Let me explain. The creativity in the writing is amazing and quite intelligent. However, the dialogue between characters is too often fast spoken, mechanical and shallow. There isn't enough depth. No relationship in the story has any substance or deeper connection as cheesy as it sounds. But the worst part is it doesnt allow the viewer the chance to build intimacy with the characters (or at least the protagonists). It's not enough to just show their background stories and hardships, the viewer needs to see and feel the characters struggling in real moral dilemmas. But instead you will find that every character is always certain and so sure of their decisions. There is not a single moment of inner struggle or doubt. So it felt impersonal and a bit inhuman. The characters dont need to know their words are written for them if you know what I mean.
Because of all that I couldnt bring myself to care for them...I guess that's what really ruined it for me. And if you can't care for the characters then you definitely can't care for the plot/story.
That being said it's still worth watching and very enjoyable, but dont expect to get emotionally pulled by what you see. That's why it's the type of show you can watch while doing the dishes or other chores around the house.
Love Life (2020)
Burn whatever this was to the ground.
I can't believe I watched all 10 episodes of this american horror story. So every romcom drama now is going to try and convince us through upbeat happy background music and a soft-spoken British narrator, that the life every early to mid 20 year old, american woman should emulate is to go out drinking every night and sleep with a bunch of guys. Get married get divorced, help an alcoholic friend into rehab, go to therapy for being a spoiled white american girl, fight with your mother for criticizing you instead of just asking her politely. Have an unplanned child out of wedlock and after a few years "mr. Perfect" is gonna walk in your life and love that your a cranky mom and expect nothing at all in return except the unquenchable thirst of wanting to help you and your baby. Oh but it's all worth it in the end because guess what, Derby or whatever her dumb name is, found herself! Yes! She is now a confident person of course! She's not sexually frustrated, lonely, in debt, depressed, no no no, being a single parent is the dream. What part of this show is actually a happy ending? This is a horror story. Honestly the "American Dream" has really done a full 180 compared to what it first was. But hey, anything but religion right? Religion=bad. Family values=bad. Being sexually reserved=youre a prude or you haven't explores yourself enough! Years of Therapy=good. Single parent=good. Drugs=oh yes definitely. It's gross. And the worst part is I'm sure after years of these shows and movies airing, young adults don't even notice how wrong it is to promote this kind of thing. It's all just normalized. This is the new normal. Wanting a two parent family is boring and too religious.
Mare of Easttown (2021)
It's okay. Entertaining enough. Nothing special.
Slow burn is an understatement. This is reaaaally drawn out. So much silent scenes, slow dry dialogue. It's what I call a show to watch while doing something else like the dishes. Plot overall is entertaining enough with twists and layers. Although I've seen much better mystery detective thrillers. One complaint is how unrealistic the plot is considering every single character has like 10 major life crisis. Very little positive in this movie, it's all negative and everyone's life sucks.
Sex/Life (2021)
Sex-obsessed main character
Nobody's life is 10/10. Thank God because that would be boring. Sex is an essential part of human health and need but there are many ways to get that need OR even not need it anymore. The show's main story is so unrealistic and unhealthy. Only an idiot for a main character would be so sex obsessed. Out of the billions of subject a person could choose to obsess about, she focuses all day everyday about the most boring thing to think of. Honestly, sex is amazing in the moment. But afterwards do something else with your time on earth! A large number of studies have already proven as humans evolve over centuries, the results not only are that we continuously increase our brain capacity and IQ but simultaneously reserve less and less space in our brains for sex. So I take it to mean the protagonist must be one of the low IQ ranging individuals? Just dumb show. I love sex but it doesn't need a show..
Ted Lasso (2020)
Made me want to be a better person
To clarify. I am good person. Or at least I hope I am and try to be. But this made be want to be a Ted Lasso level of good. The show's writing is beyond inspiring without being cheesy; Jason Sudeikis, the master of balance. A big bonus is that it has no subliminal political agenda at all - saying that that's refreshing is an understatement to be sure in today's age. Watching this is like going to Church without the church part, and without knowing you just went to church. Your soul needs it but you didn't know it.
Any show that can make you question your own character, challenge your own morality, without sacrificing any humor or entertainment, is a deeply intelligent and meaningful show. Let me tell you if you have any held up anger over just about anything in life, just watch this. Never thought a comedy would fundamentally and permanently alter my personality, but it did!
Firefly Lane (2021)
Pretty Good But Nothing Special
I did not read the book but here's my take on the show:
It has potential but nothing substantial takes place in the end. The characters have enough psychological baggage which is great because it gives them three dimensional and interesting personalities. But there are no significant events taking place in the present day. It's all too slow or maybe uneventful is the right word. It's still enjoyable to watch but no greater message, no purpose, no closure on the events that took place in the past. That's my take on season 1, maybe season 2 will be more exciting. Kinda boring honestly...it's something I watch while doing dishes, not enough is happening for it to merit your full attention. Hope this helps whoever is reading decide if they want to watch it :)
The Good Fight (2017)
Bias BS
Democrat millionaire elites threw their money to this show so they can inject their anti-trump propaganda. A fictional character that does not exist. DISGUSTING. I'm not even conservative or republican, but I would vote for Trump if I could. This media spreading lies has gotten out of hand.
The Good Wife (2009)
One of my favourites. Officially in my favourites list.
Watched all seasons twice. never thought I'd like it that much. I never thought I could like a show this much while hating the main character the whole time haha. The protagonist is a hypocritical wife and extremely annoying self-pitying individual that just uses her husband for money and status while hating him. It's impossible to feel sorry for her. But the episodes are amazing, you learn so much about the legal political system and interesting loophole and corruption that exist.
