The final episode ruined the entire show.
2 July 2021
It's still an amazing series that I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys watching anime. The animation is just.. breathe taking. I love how they chose a darker color pallet compared to most animes being made nowadays. It really gave the show a very moody, sureal vibe to it, almost as if you're in the same room with all all the characters vs it looking all pastel and washed out. The music is good, voice acting is good too. That last episode just really sucked... however, it's still really worth watching. Apparently the behind the scenes production for the show was a nightmare, which is very unfortunate.. because this anime had SOOOO much potential. And who knows maybe you might like the final episode, it just felt like a completely different show to me and I felt it ignored a lot of super cool interesting things it brought up during episode 11.. anyway, highly recommend, visually stunning, compelling plot, lame ending. 7/10.

I Care a Lot (2020)
The final scene almost made up for the terrible 2nd half..
23 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
1 ⭐ for the acting: I thought it was above average

1 ⭐ for the production: as unrealistic that underwater car scene was, I liked that the movie had enough of a budget to include that scene (although they should've made it more realistic) also the explosion of their house was kinda cool.

1 ⭐ for soundtrack: It really didn't vibe with the 1st half of the movie at all, I thought I was watching The Hills/Laguna Beach on MTV, but music went so well with the 2nd part once things started to get serious (like when they killed that awful doctor)

2 ⭐⭐ goes to seeing Marla die: Seeing her partner cry made it a little better too, but it would've been more satisfying if he shot her girlfriend first like in the head or something, instantly killing her, then shooting Marla the chest, so her final moments would've been seeing the love of her life dead.

I dont understand what was supposed to be comedic about this movie .There was nothing funny throughout the entire film.. NOTHING. Which really isn't bad thing persay but the movie IS labeled as a dark comedy and it was completely void of anything funny. Was it is supposed make me laugh seeing them take the mafia down? Which by the way was the most unrealistic thing in the entire movie. Even more than the underwater car scene.

I hated everyone in the movie but I don't watch movies to root for anyone, so I can understand the outrage from people who were expecting some basic generic good guy vs bad guy dynamic.

There wasn't really anything "thrilling" in it either, maybe when they mafia got the girlfriend but what killed any element of thrill was that underwater scene where she managed to get out of the car after what seemed like 5 minutes without any oxygen and manage to survive. That was just bad, they could've shot it differently to make it more believable.

I really wanted to see Marka and her girlfriend die throughout the entire movie, and I dont think I've ever seen a movie where I wanted someone to die so badly. So when they drugged the mafia leader, I wasn't just disappointed by how unrealistic it was but that they were getting away with it all... And in a way they kind of did get away.

When the mafia made Marla an offer to be his partner, I didn't even care anymore at that point because the 2nd half of the movie ended up being such a train wreck, I only kept watching because a small part of me hoped he was tricking her and kill her in the end (along w her girlfriend).

At the end of movie I was starting to get so upset because I couldn't believe she was going to get away with everything. But at the literal last minute, some guy from the beginning of the movie (she took over his mom's life and kept him from seeing her ever again) took revenge by going up to her, shooting her in the chest thus killing her. That was SOOO satisfying. But only for that moment.

I guess I was happy that she died in the end but at the same time, the 2nd part of the movie really tanked the entire film, and those hyper unrealistic plot twist only made the movie worse than it had already become (taking down the russian mafia, and the mafia leader asking her to be his partner).

The movie could've been good if the 2nd half was more believable and if we got to see the Marla along with her girlfriend truly suffer in the end, like rotting in jail.

Very insightful minus the Disneyland Shanghai episode.
29 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Even if you don't care about Disney anymore due to there questionable decisions they've made from 2016-present, you will still be able enjoy this documentary serious, just avoid episode 6 (more on that later).

If you love the parks in general, you will absolutely love this. I've never seen such an insightful documentary about the history of the Disney theme parks. First few episodes are the best, you'll learn about everything that lead up to the inception and construction of Disneyland. How all the rides were created and about the amazingly talented artist that worked on all the classic rides. It's not just about the American parks. It also covers the theme parks in Europe and Asia. If you grew up watching all the Disney park specials that aired on the Travel Channel, you will recognize a lot of faces.

My only issue with this documentary is the Disneyland Shanghai episode (ep 6). It's a gorgeous park, and it's very fascinating seeing all the thought and effort that went into constructing the park, but it's also a double edged sword if you're politically aware of the human rights violations the CCP is guilty of.

I found it unsettling that they removed everything American (Main Street USA, Frontier Land) from the park. One can't help but wonder and assume that it was a deliberate decision from the CCP to erase any western history that's part of every Disney park's DNA. Honestly, if the tensions between China and the USA weren't so complicated this would be a non issue. But given the political climate we all find ourselves in, it's disturbing. They didn't even want to included the staple ride in every park, It's A Small World.. I personally found it extremely questionable that the Chinese govt wasn't ok with a harmless ride that showcases world peace and unity with a celebration of children singing in unison on how we are all different with our unique cultures but still the same while sharing a planet.

And seeing Bob Iger throughout the series was extremely cringe worthy. He just comes off extremely pompous and narcissistic. He gloats too much, and seeing him bend over to the Chinese government was pathetic. There was this one part when he was announcing the opening of Shanghai Disneyland by ripping off Walt Disney's opening of Disneyland speech, they paired clips of him and Walt Disney saying the same things back to back and I found it extremely offensive and inappropriate.

Also I personally didn't care for the segment that went into the failed Galaxy's Edge. I can't imagine why they chose to go with the newer movies (VII-IX) instead if the original trilogy.. they didn't even include anything recognizable from the latest movies, instead they made an extremely generic planet that isn't in any movie.. then I saw Kathleen Kennedy and it made perfect sense why they chose that route.

Overall, minus the 6th episode, I would highly recommend this. It was very entertaining, it was produced well, and it leaves one feeling very inspired.

Over the Moon (2020)
Ultra. Luminary.
25 October 2020
There's not many animated movies anymore that perfectly captivate the soul and imagination like Over the Moon. Directed by legendary animator Glenn Keane (The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Tarzan, to name a few), Over the Moon transports you to a colorful world of love and wonder.

The movie starts off with a gorgeous 2D animation sequence of the Chinese Moon goddess myth, it's extremely reminiscent to the animation from classic 90s Disney films. The songs are melodic, catchy and full of heart (minus the short rap song, but even then, that song is good and fun too).

By far the MOST significant and iconic part of the entire film (this scene honestly carries the entire film tbh) is when the Moon goddess, Chang'e, sings Ultraluminary in what could be described as a spectacular concert performance. The visuals are BREATHTAKING and gorgeous. It's on par with the grotto scene from The Little Mermaid (Part of Your World), the ballroom scene in Beauty and the Beast, A Whole New World, The Cicle of Life (you get the idea).. Let It Go doesn't even compare to Ultraluminary. It truly deserves a place in animation history and it would be a travesty if it isn't nominated for a Grammy.

The story really pulls at the heart strings as it deals with loss and grief, something too many people are dealing with this year due to the pandemic. So if your little one is dealing with grief from losing a loved one, you may want to watch this first on your own to make sure it won't be too much for them.

Sadly this movie will be slept on and invalidated by the corporate powers at Disney who desperately refuse to let go of their monopolistic grip on the animated movie industry. The hoards of Disney loyalist are also trashing this movie very unfairly, its a movie they will love to hate, thats how you know its good.

Criticisms in regards to the "logic" of the movie kinda flew out the window when the protagonist built a rocket and literally went to the moon. It's laughable that the things these Disney loyalist are criticizing this film for they completely ignore and look the other way in their favorite films. For example Frozen was filled to the brim with plot holes and was incoherently illogical beginning to end, it was a fantasy movie anyways, but when it comes to Over the Moon, no, "it doesn't make sense" ok. Frozen wasn't the first movie to feature an annoying "tag-along" character (Olaf), there are COUNTLESS animated movies that have an annoying/endearing comic relief character, but they're all, including this one, "ripping off Frozen". Also Disney by far, didn't make the first animated movie to deal with death and loss (Coco). Over the Moon deals with grief much differently than Coco, I really don't understand how the comparisons to Coco are even relevant to this film.

This movie is proof the Disney is destroying animation because not only do people dogmatically cling to the name "Disney" but their standards also stem from their movies, most of which are rip-offs of other movies and feature recycled and stolen visuals from other animated foreign films.

While this movie shines on its own as a stand alone film, it really shines a light at everything wrong with Disney right now in their shadows. Their rabid cult-like fanbase refuses to let any other animated movies shine, even when they're directed by Disney legend Glenn Keane. Disney can't make an appropriate movie based off Chinese culture without bowing down to the CCP and endorsing genocide (Mulan 2020). Disney has the corporate money to pay for bad reviews to silence their competitors. Disney also decided to release a trailer for their new southeast Asian "princess" movie the same day Over the Moon was released. So because of the powers that be, this gorgeous film is unfairly being compared to the Emoji Movie and Trolls when in reality it's on par with the Disney classics from the 90s and their latest films (Mooana and Frozen).

I highly recommend this movie, if anything at least stick around till scene when they arrive at the moon and the Moon goddess, Chang'e, sings Ultraluminary, you won't regret it.
