She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022)
Stop breaking the 4th wall..
I don't understand all the 4th wall breaking. It ruins the flow of the story when Jen starts talking to the camera.
I liked it in the beginning (the very fist episode) when she was giving her opening statement - because it felt like she was just talking/rehearsing her closing statement. But her continuing to break the 4th wall throughout the series and say some obvious things adds nothing to the story and is just annoying.
Tatiana Maslany is an amazing actress and I loved her in Orphan Black. I just feel like her talents are not utilized properly in this show.
And Jen is better in Bruce in everyway Hulk way is just like.. really?
I feel like the story is rushed, and the courtroom scenes are a mess.
Little Women (2019)
So many flashbacks..
One of my favorites stories completely ruined.. There are so many flashbacks that it makes it hard to tell when we are in the present moment. The characters are rather flat and you don't really care about them as much as you would do in the '94 version.
I don't feel like the actesses (the sisters) are the right cast. You just don't feel the chemestry between. And what's worse is that they never age, which again makes it harder to know where we are in the timeline.
The costumes are great but that's about it.
Turning Red (2022)
'Dear diary' kind of movie
A very amusing and different take on a coming of age movie. The animation is a very.. unique.. and anime-ish style, which takes a while to get used to. And the 'dear diary' style of the movie kind comes and goes - so you're a bit undre as to who the main character is talking to - you or someone in the room with her.
And I'm also a but unsure as to who the audience is. Because I didn't get that this was back in 2002 - like is this made for the nostalgia crowd, the young teens, millenials, Chineese / Canadian people?
-_('-')_- You tell me.
I like the story in itself, and I like that Disney is trying to tell different stories from around the world - with Encanto/ Coco and now this.
Encanto (2021)
Beautiful non-story
Its a very beautiful animation, but there's no story. There isn't a problem or anything for the main character to really overcome. The characters are rather bland and you expect there to be a bad guy or a prophecy or something that the family has to deal with - but no.
The family has magic powers that the grandmother is afraid of loosing, then looses it, because selfishness (??) but gets it back in the end somehow..
And suddenly butterflies have meaning, but you don't understand the meaning, and it isn't really talked about or explained.
The songs are entertaining, a bit cringe, but I couldn't understand a word being sung. I had to have subtiles on.
If you want to see an enchanting movie - watch Frozen.
Baking Impossible (2021)
Why is everything edible?
The concept is good and unique. However, I do not understand why everything has to be edible, when none of the judges ever tries any of their edible work on the different "missions".. The bakers make a specific dessert for the judges to eat anyway. It's such huge waste of produce!
And why is it that the judges get to change their clothes, but the contestants have to wear the same outfit throughout the show.. Like why?? Continuity doesn't make sense either - some of the challenges are over 10 hours long..
Speaking of looong.. The show itself is so incredibly long - like 45 minutes long.. There is absolutely no reason for it to be that long, because each episode is one "mission".. It gets boring pretty quickly and some areas gets dragged out unecessarily..
The host has his moments, but my gosh.. He is incredibly cringy and he thinks he is funnier than he actually is..
The contestants are poorly matched. And I don't understand why they are so fixed. This Renee girl, who supposedly is an engineer, is incredibly dumb. "She works for nasa" (highly doubt it). Like she doesn't get the most basic things right. And I feel so sorry for her partner Steve - he is such a talented baker, that just gets dragged down because of her. That's why I feel like they should shuffle the bag a bit and give each person a new partner.
I don't understand the judging. They keep some people around that should be sent home from the start, and sent others home that had enormous potential.
Finally, a lot of these contestants are really not that great at what they do - considering there is a 100k price in the end..
Outlander (2014)
1-3 fenomenal. 4 & 5 are real stinkers..
The beginning of the series (season 1-3) are fenomenal! Amazing script, scenery and characters! The whole debarcle with Jack Randall had me on the edge of my seat. And Tobias Menzies does an incredible job playing a menacing figure. Absolutely loved the first 3 seasons. However, all the love making is somewhat filler like - but it's not as bad as in season 4 and 5.
Speaking of 4 & 5. You get to see another familiar face from the future - with a wierd prophecy- that kinda just ends there. It had so much potential to involve Brianna in a much better way than she is. During the seasons, she's just kinda there. She doesn't do anything, doesn't have any particular skills or accomplishes anything really. She's just there, with Roger, who couldn't have been a worse match for her. He is such an *sshole and a wuss that somehow manages to manipulate Brianna into marriage and then shames for being molested?? Like wtf? I REALLY dislike his character. He's a historian and doesn't know anything about the history of the first settlers, the wars and anything in between. Like why? He teaches history - in Boston.. He must know something- right? Apparently not. So much wasted potential with these two.
Stephen Bonnet is a great menacing character and is honestly the ONLY exciting thing about these seasons. You feel like the story finally progresses with him around.
All the sex scenes during season 4 & 5 honestly feels like filler. Like the writers didn't know what to do with the characters, so they might as well have sex..
All in all 1-3 amazing! Great story telling and characters!
4-5 a lot of wasted potential, a lot of filler sex scenes and all in all it feels like they are just waiting for the revolution to begin..
The Danish Girl (2015)
Inspiring story, great performance - weak script
The story of Lili Elbe is quite a fascinating one, as she was one of the first transgender women who got a sexchange operation.
Eddy Redmayne performance as Lili is moving, but the tale itself is rather bland. Nothing prominent happens throughout the movie, and the script feels week and sometimes pointless. The scenery is beautiful - but it's not enterly Denmark. Nyhavn is, but all the footage from the mountains are from Norway. Denmark is such a flat country, and has absolutely no mountains.
Klaus (2019)
What a Christmas surprise!
This move was such a joy to watch!
The story, the characters, the animation, the humor and the voice actors - it was all so amazing!
This movie will definetly become a movie to watch every Christmas!
Arthur Christmas (2011)
Good but not great
The movie has some creative elements - like the sleigh, the Santa Claus inheritance and the elfs - and the animation is quite good.
But the story itself quite bland and the old Santa (Grandsanta) drives me crazy. He seems like the annoying character you put into a movie just to break it up a bit - some movies do it in a good/okay way (like Moana and the chicken) others do it horribly bad (like JarJar Binks in Star Wars). Grandsanta is right up there with JarJar. And he gets a lot of screen time, so your 'annoy-o-meter' gets full quite quickly.
The ending is sweet but a bit meh.
The voiceactors are amazing and fit perfectly with their characters.
Dream Home Makeover (2020)
So much selfpromtion.. An absolute snoozefest
I have only seen 1 and a half episode. I had to stop it was just too "we had nothing back and we could only live in tiny appartment. But now we have everything! - Just look at the size of our house and everything in it! It's huge"...
I have literally learned zero from these episodes - other than they are building a giant house and have 90 employees in their only 5 year old business.. Did I need that info in a interior design show? No. Absolutely not.
Chef's Table (2015)
Favorite show!
I absolutely love this show! The fact that they show behind the scenes, childhood tales and the struggles of these top chefs is just an amazing perspective - and makes them more human and approachable. Love this show!
Get Organized with the Home Edit (2020)
So LOUD!
I had to stop watching after 10 minutes in the first episode.. The hosts are so loud, one of them talk over anyone attempting to speak and the "OMG" and "like, like, like" get annoying pretty fast.. It had potential, but honestly you get more out of watching Marie Kondo. You don't get anything useful out of this - you might get a headache though..
