Succession: With Open Eyes (2023)
It fits with the whole series
The only thing missing from the finale was a gunshot after the screen went black. Kendall is destroyed by losing the only thing he wanted in his life.
I've never seen such a series that hardly had a single likable character, but still kept you watching all the way through. The ending may not have suited everyone but it suited the whole premise of the show.
The only thing I would have changed in the whole series would be to get rid of the shaky hand-held camera scenes. Whoever came up with that style of film making should be drawn and quartered.
I really expected Shiv to come out on top. Maybe in a way she has.
Star Trek: Picard: Võx (2023)
Television at its best
Like many others I found the first two seasons rather mundane. This third season however, is some of the best tv I've watched. The nostalgia hits are brilliant.
I kind of thought that The Borg would be the big baddy. What is TNG without its arch enemy? Let's hope the episode next week is a fitting finale to a great season. I'm hoping Janeway makes an appearance. She had plenty of dealings with The Borg in her own series.
So, what did Worf do to Enterprise E? Will we find out?
It's a pity they killed Captain Shaw off. If ever there was a character screaming for his own series, it's him. But, as we know, you're never really dead in tv land.
Im Westen nichts Neues (2022)
Good, but not as good
I'm guessing many reviewers haven't watched the original. While this version adequately display the idiocy of WW1 and the futility of war in general, the original did it much better.
It's been many years since I watched but I don't recall the ridiculous drum beats throughout the movie. Great performances in this movie by most of the actors. Cinematography is spot on.
A fine example of compliance and where it ultimately leads you. Even today we see examples of those who would shoot the soldiers that refused to return to the front. 'Comply or else'
Do not blindly follow orders! Be an individual.
1883 (2021)
Just brilliant
I just watched all of Yellowstone in a week and then started this series. Even after the first episode I was enthralled. It is even better than Yellowstone.
The actors are all perfect. The narration is perfect. The settings are perfect. I just can't find a fault in it anywhere.
It does a great job of showing just how untamed the country was back then and why the natives fought so hard to keep it. Such a travesty the way the governments treated them.
I'll certainly be looking for more content from Taylor Sheridan. But first must finish this and then watch 1923. Excited for what's to come.
This is one of the best series I've ever seen.
Fall (2022)
Should have been much better
While it's tempting to just turn the brain off and enjoy the film, the dumb mistakes made by the characters in the film take a lot away from it. Add to that the beyond believable feats of strength. No need for any of it.
I'm terrified of heights but there were only a few moments of suspense because I was too busy groaning at their mistakes.
Another let-down was the ending of the film. I was like "Did I fall asleep there?". Nothing about how the rescuers finally got notified. Nothing about how she was removed from the tower. Where was all that?
It's like movie making by the numbers. No thought put into it. But, even given all that, it's still watchable.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022)
Maybe good for 8yo's. Barely watchable for adults.
This rubbish show is unlikely to get renewed. Terribly poor storyline. Poor casting of the lead. Idiotic woke dialogue. How about just making a show to entertain your audience instead of preach at them?
What was the background of the random villain in ep.1? I was only surprised it wasn't a powerful white male she got to punch.
Sorry Bill Bixby and Lou Ferigno, this rot is ruining your legacy.
It's easily forgettable. Just more leftist trash. As for Ruffalo having a whine about poor reviews due to 'misogyny', how is House of Dragons going?
There is a show with strong, credible female leads. We don't need 'education', we need entertainment. Dance monkeys. Dance.
Bullet Train (2022)
1 star only because Zero is not available.
What a hot mess of nonsensical rubbish. Congrats to Bullet train on being just the second film in my life that I've walked out of. It is now officially the worst movie I've ever seen.
Keep Breathing (2022)
Flashbacks galore
Writing this while being bored by yet another meaningless flashback. This series could have, and should have, been so much better. Its nonsensical at times.
Just letting it run in the background so I can see how it ends.
Pearl Harbor (2001)
It's been done much better.
So disappointing this movie is. I generally eat up historical drama even when it's not entirely accurate. With the cast at hand it should have been so much better. Speaking of cast, having Baldwin portray an American hero like Doolittle was one huge mistake.
The inane 'romance' storyline was ridiculous. This movie should have been shorter and just focused on the actions.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
Quit the woke garbage
While I enjoyed the movie, I can do without woke crap infesting everything.
This film is quite a change for Marvel. Much darker and far less funny bits. It worked. Not too sure that some of the characters appearing were needed though.
Vigil (2021)
It's entertainment not a doco!
Just finished the series. It's a very enjoyable, suspenseful ride. I found the lead actor very wooden but Rose Leslie is a standout star.
The Scottish accents at times were a little difficult to understand.
So what if there's a beach? So what if the tanker magically appeared?
It's entertainment. Suspend your disbelief and enjoy it.
Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard (2021)
Rollicking good fun
I struggle to understand some of these reviews. Complaining about swearing in a Samuel Jackson movie? Sheesh. Grow a brain.
Plenty of laughs and plenty of action. It's not a Shakespeare classic. Just go and enjoy it for what it is.
A Dog's Way Home (2019)
Ok for kids.
I had a little time to fill in so chose this movie as it looked ok. Everything was going well until Ashley Judd appeared on the screen. That really soured the movie for me. Kids will enjoy it though. The cgi is not great, but passable. It's a cute story with a happy ending. What more do kids need?
