As someone largely disappointed by the two Annabelle films that preceded it - I found both of them to be pretty draggy - I was pleasantly surprised to find ANNABELLE COMES HOME a fun watch this morning on HBO on-demand.

It's a wild night at the Warren residence as our favorite hideous devil-doll Annabelle and the malevolent spirits inhabiting a certain locked room are inadvertently released and given free rein. Teenage Mary Ellen, watching over the Warrens' precocious daughter Judy, most certainly earns her babysitting money as all hell breaks loose. Mary Ellen's BFF Daniela (grieving her recently deceased dad, whose death she feels responsible for) and would-be boyfriend Bob (pursued by a werewolf at one point, which serves him right after his especially painful rendition of Bread's "Everything I Own" in an attempt to serenade Mary Ellen) are also along for the ride. This entry in the Conjuring Universe takes itself far less seriously than its brethren, and provides a carnival/funhouse atmosphere that suits the creepy fun as the Warren home becomes the ultimate haunted house for the night.

Daughter Judy and the teen trio make for appealing protagonists, and I enjoyed the '70s milieu as well as the cheeky touches throughout: I rather liked how an atmospheric fog - enough to make a Hammer or Universal monster movie envious - increases both inside and outside the house as this less-than-enchanted evening progresses.

I know this was likely the least well-received of the Annabelle series, but I had a fine time watching this entertaining spookshow...now bring on that third Conjuring movie! Coming soon on Warner Bros 4k ultra hd release January 2022.

Watched this last night as part of the 6-disc Conjuring Universe set I recently bought. Never saw this one before and I really liked it. Definitely some creepiness.

However, I was really surprised by the PQ issues of the disc: banding, EE, video noise, clipped highlights. Maybe Annabelle got a hold of it? Coming soon on Warner Bros 4k ultra hd release January 2022.

I just finished watching this and i thought it was a piece of shit, it had potential of being at least decent. But it failed at that, i have seen the 2nd and i liked it up until the girl turns evil. When she is suppose to be the main character we are suppose to relate to, before that i was liking it, i have not seen the latest one yet and i still need to get around to watch the Conjuring films as well coming soon on Warner Bros 4k ultra hd release January 2022.

That's why I haven't bought the Blu-rays. I've learned the hard way, repeatedly, to wait for the UHD releases of movies that are obvious candidates for 4K.

Blade II (2002)

The Bloodhunt Begins........... Not all follow-ups are created equal, nor do they surpass there original movies. The general rule of part II's is that they are do be bigger in scope and feature much more action and body counts depending on the genre in which it falls. Blade II certainly passed that on all levels. Case in point when you get writer/director Guillarmo Del Toro behind the camera then it's game on and man does he do it with this sequel. Everything is amped up to movie geek level with no detail left untouched and the performances given at full A+ status. A perfect sequel from start to finish. Blade II's high-def debut also looks fantastic. Images are finely detailed and crisp. Audio works all 7.1 channels with ease and fills the room with perfect sound balance and subtlety. All of the bonus features from the DVD have been ported over. Nothing should stop you from picking this up today...... Coming soon on Warner Bros 4k ultra hd release December.

I watched this the other night. It was the first Sdr bluray I spun on my new panel. Man this looks so good and filmic. The reds just jump off the screen. The grain was beautiful and so is the contrast. I hope this gets a UHD release soon Yeah, how many more Christmas' have to go by after UHD became a thing before we get this on UHD? Still kind of shocked we got Home Alone first coming soon on Warner Bros 4k ultra hd release November.

Well, they can certain rescan (in 4K) the film they used for the old blu-ray I never could get into this film for most of my life for whatever reason. It wasn't until a couple years ago that I finally "got it" and consider it the annual Christmas classic that it is. Beautifully shot film! There's also just the simple fact that if you treat the Donner cut as the "real one" then the two movies have the same freaking ending, which is terrible. That and many other reasons (like obviously very different casting footage being used) are why the theatrical cut is the "real one" for me. As cool and interesting as the Donner cut is, it's not a finished movie coming soon on Warner Bros 4k ultra hd release November.

I finally got around to watching this last night from a VUDU stream, and I must say......this is some of the BEST material to come from Adam Sandler in a LONG time. If only his MOVIES could be this fresh and funny. I will be picking this up today for sure This film needs a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release coming soon on Sony pictures 4k ultra hd release January 2022.

Glad you enjoyed the movie. I was also surprisingly impressed when I watched it the first time around. Definitely give the sequel a shot, because it's about as good as the first film.
