I watch A LOT of Christmas movies, many of them terrible. I'm happy to report this one is a winner.
Whilst this does have the "move back to the small town" trope which is extremely common in Christmas movies, what sets it apart is the quality of the acting and dialogue. The cast had no weak links and some very seasoned comedic actors. I love that it's a gay story, but at no point in time is them being gay a controversy or burden. It's very charming.
The only downsides for me were the heavy (to the point of unrealistic) meddling of the younger girls, the common tropes and how badly the movie treats the character James - who is pretty much perfect.
