A look at societal evolution
First as a set of short films based on the evolution of society and technology, and the greed/ingenuity it takes to change things, and then the actuality that they don't really change, just some new faces, with some more tainted fingers in a very dirty pie. Whatever your thoughts on the industry... The invention was astonishing, the fallout was predictable.
The script, the acting, the cinematography, the sets, and most importantly the driving ideas behind the message that both led to the creation of Spotify, and then to the degradation of the very message the creators founded it on....
It is a truth that has found its way into all parts of our society, and into what will become the history of the technological renaissance.
Though not a new thought (see The Social Network or The Billion Dollar Code) It is a very important story/message, and here it is very well told. As far as it's truth is concerned, I'm guessing as usual the truth is more tragic, terrifying, and yet more beautiful.... reality is but the best story, true film is striving to glimpse it. Just like all the art and artists that came before. Let our dreams be free.
1UP (2022)
lara croft
So 10 minutes in they are talking about Lara Croft and how the industry sexualized her to sell games... then they have a girl as the lead with very large tracks of land wearing a tank top most of the time... If you're trying to rise above it or help others to do so, then why do you dive right down to the bottom of it, without ever coming close to getting to the bottom of anything... Though the big girl telling the dude bro .... you just don't see many pegging jokes.... Let's just say I wouldn't make a football movie without knowing even a little bit about the game of soccer. They made a really bad video game movie, and a worse movie about equality.
Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet: A Dark Quiet Death (2020)
So this episode
So this show... I tried to watch it because I'm a Community fan and I play MMOs, and it's always sunny and all, and I was like meh.... but actually watched what I did because I heard of this episode... This modern love... crushing one another with colossal expectations... Perfection doesn't exist, but this comes close to explaining it.
The Wheel of Time: The Eye of the World (2021)
hmmm
I was thinking they would change who the dragon was based on rand so far in the show, then last minute last episode he just knows... I'm not sure how long it took in the books before he just knew, but it sure wasn't then, and he sure didn't pronounce it.
Yeah it's all different, I wasn't surprised, the escalation was well done, and more than a couple of them need to take some acting classes before season 2. This made plenty of money so of course it will continue.
The ending was about par for the course, leaving me still disappointed yet not surprised.
Way to make a solid 7/10 out of something legendary....
The Wheel of Time (2021)
These reviews...
So, I don't understand the reviews. One person even said that Robert Jordan helped adapt the screenplay, well I'm not sure how considering he passed away 14 years ago, but hey, it's the internet so just make it up as you go.
I personally wanted more, it's not bad perse, but it's not great either which makes me sad. I know you can't follow the books that closely, especially given their grand scope, but the changes feel forced sometimes. Overall it's fine, though I was hoping for brilliant, alas.
The Billion Dollar Code (2021)
They wouldn't, would they?
I give it 50/50 as to where the code actually came from, but it seems pretty clear who has received all of the money. I don't think the ethics of technology or idea theft is an IMDB debate, nor are my thoughts on it relevant to my review. Clearly huge companies use any idea they can get their hands on for their version of the greater good (in which their "google" is the savior), and why give/pay for credit, that's just loosing money. The US court system has been very clear on their stance and proving innovation or genius is nigh impossible.
That said, It's a very good TV version of a tried and true idea, because lets face it, most of us will never have a billion dollar idea, and now we can all feel like victims together. As a show it serviced this idea impeccably. I had chills at the end of the first episode, and if the grandeur of the future was all the protagonists wanted, they achieved it, regardless of the size of their slice of the pie.

These reviews of streaming movies
Very Typical Netflix film here. Getting better actors now, showcasing one of their own young talents, moving up Netflix. Feelgood yet sloppy direction, Netflix par here. My thoughts are for the other reviews, Learn to take the good with the bad, and actually judge the movie, trust this wasnt the Godfather, nor was it the hottie or the nottie, solid 6.8 or so in my book. Reviews of these recent movies/shows are laughable, including this one:)
