What If...?: What If... Hela Found the Ten Rings? (2023)
This felt out of place
The issue i have is this is very much Thor meets Mr Miyagi and a recon of Shang-Shi.
It is ludicrous on how much they depowered Odin to even achieve this story. I did watch it and then was like what the f... when mortal guys made blood come from hella despite being Asgardian. It's like they dumbed down the entire race so the ten rings had a reason to hurt them. This goes against everything we learned about the Asgardians. Even loki has not taken this type of damage from humans. This was about as ludicrous as Capitan Carter and Black Widow punching Lucky into submission when neither of them have ever shown the Thor or Hulk strength required. He tanked hits from the Hulk whop easily ripped cars in half. It's like they went in and just copy and pasted the karate kid in then added just enough to make it marvel. Also why don't you call orgaimi porgimamai and how about the writes actually go into martial studios before trying to write about training. They just take other peoples' ideas and use them with some upgrades to make it Princess marvel and to make it not karate kid.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)
this had its up and down!
Jonathan Majors stole the show of course. Paul Rudd was very good as well. The pacing felt like it was two movies. One being a story of Kane and Janet. The second story was the Ant family, which includes Cassie, Scott, Hope, Janet and Hank. I didn't like the awkward moments as even the actors looked and felt awkward as it was show a possibly lesbian relationship for Cassie. Which seems to be forced as we have no seen Cassie with any young men to compare it to. Sure some one of the same gender can be awesome but that doesn't mean we fall for them. I do hope going forward the MCu tries to do a better job at this. All they need to do is look at the Last of Us season 1 episode 3 or V for Vedette to see a better way.
Monster Trucks (2016)
Nice special effects for the era
The acting is nice and the story seems genuine. What really stands out is the special effects and practical effects. They don't seem janky as many even higher budgeted movies do not hold-up comparison.
Many of the actors do a great job for their roles. The plot has heart in the same vein of how to Train your Dragon or Free Willy without the maiming and forced captivity.
It is a fun movie and worthwhile. There was a bit of chemistry between the actors which was nice. I feel the way they push the car is reminisces of being a kid riding a skateboard on your knees or a the big wheel trucks. I did enjoy the movie.
Cosmic Sin (2021)
It's an okay movie
The acting isn't the best but it has some good special and practical effects. The narrative does drift from time to time. It also takes a lot of leaps in logic and doesn't show or tell many that do need it. I did find the idea that they are shooting through space in jump suits when they have large spacecraft passing them in a war is a bit laughable. Aside from that, their is effort in the movie. They did do deep dives into the military and the practical side of soldiering as well as the ethics of war. Bruce Willis was believable as a disgraced and traumatized general still not his best but way better than others. So if you just want a decent movie for the ride then I would suggest it if you don't too much.
The Suicide Squad (2021)
Better and Worse
I was really looking forward to see many of the new villains. Captian Boomerange and TDK especially. So the first ten minutes was a huge disappointment.
Mulan (2020)
Stereotypes, bad cgi and bad actors
I had high hopes for this movie and did not go into it expecting a musical or anything like the 1998 version. In the first 10 minutes I nearly turned it off with them speaking of a 9 year old must getting married soon. This was onto of the horrible CGI studder that was Mulan landing off a roof... and the whole a woman can no use chi ideology which I do not have any clue where that came from. Chi is lifeforce, everyone has it. The next few scenes get worse with an actress that speaks bad English when their are hundred of Asian women that could have played the part. They forget that even though we are hearing English, they are speaking Chinese. The worse is the lines that are very badly written. Adding a witch and chi to the story does feel way out of place.
