A Royal Runaway Romance (2022)
Chemistry Trumps an Implausible Script
Really not a fan of these prince/princess falling for a commoner movies. They bend reality far too much(really, it would be that easy to escape from her mother-dubious & on a whim she'd just take off cross country with a near total stranger-don't think so) and, unfortunately the man she thinks she's in love with is totally dislikeable. So, why do I like it, besides the beautiful Ford Mustang? The two lead actors do a great job making their characters believable in their fondness for this cross country trip- their chemistry is very believable making the ending of the movie seem like a forgone conclusion- anything else would seem wrong- no mean feat. There is a "Roman Holiday" vibe to the movie, made possible by the charm & grace of the lead actress. Love the cross country scenery, even if its just stock footage. All in all, very charming(that word again) and a delightful way to spend two hours.
One Summer (2021)
Real Substance!
So nice to see real substance in a Hallmark movie. Sam Page does an outstanding job as the father trying to cope with being an only parent, looking to move on, care for his children but yet honor his late wife. Everyone in this is very good though the daughter can be a bit much at times, not the fault of the actress, rather the scrip. Thought it was appropriate that they only hinted at a future romance, it would have cheapen the movie(and been highly unrealistic given their ages) if that had happened in this movie. I realize the lighthouse was symbolic but it was a little much that it shown upon the daughter drowning to save her. Besides, that lighthouse looked like it needed a years worth of repairs! These are very minor niggles in a movie that otherwise was very well done. Kudos to all involved, especially the actors and actresses.
Raise a Glass to Love (2021)
Much, much better than average
Aside from what another reviewer mentioned about the scarcity of Master Sommeliers (an organization now under attack) and her pouring a Pinot Noir from a Bordeaux bottle; this is very well done, much better acting than normal, especially from the female lead, excellent chemistry between the leads, an excellent supporting cast and an engaging story, would definitely watch again. The ending was rushed, but was well done otherwise- and memorable.
