May the Farce Be With U
18 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
There is a great deal of panning of the series. Unwarranted for certain.

There is no 10/10 sections.

There is a fair amount of fantastical scenes from the director, whom I'm guessing grew up with the inbetween story releases and never knew or understood the soul of the tale.

Too much of Reva the inquisitor, sure she's very unlikeable as the villain but overexposed to the point of annoying.

The performance doesn't capture the sinsiter as well as Darth. The very constant threat of the Dark Lord no-one wishes to encounter.

Whereas Reva's apparent mastering of the Dark Side has overshadowed Darth's powers making him an unnecessary character.

Really bringing down a fighter by flinging an utility box through the sky, it's enough to raise even Yoda's brows.

The original release, Star Wars, should be the benchmark on the spinoffs and chapters however each director adds their interpretation. Which is OK. But sometimes it seems to drift away into a galaxy far far away.

WTF
22 October 2022
It will be quite difficult to bag this piece of celluloid rubbish for 600 words

The entire script leaves you so slack jawed that a visit to corrective surgery is possible. Beware.

It must have been the death nell for the director, the script writer, definitely the main character played by Anthony Edwards and leading lady character Mare Winningham.

Who by the way managed to haunt our screens for another couple of decades.

Seriously how hard is it to leave a sleeping city.

The story certainly had potential. Yet at no time during the film does one feel a sense of urgency. You're left praying for bombs to drop, maybe there'll be time to find something decent.

NO 7/10 from me.

Exorcise Yourself

Warning: Spoilers
The opening is no more than a pathetic premise.

The so-called priest, ' my faith is strong ' immediately indulges in the 'pleasure of the flesh'.

Nice tits, so what, this is Mexico, all the senoritas shape up, flaunt their wares, it is nothing not worthy.

This guy behaves like a sixteen year old with his first Playboy magazine.

I know the Catholic church has been under fire, however who would believe that this guy is anything but a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Death Sentence - 1hr 45min
12 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I like Kevin Bacon, he brings plenty with him to any film. But this is like watching Mr Bean take on the SAS and showing them what-for.

The chase scene from the gang sucks, he was dead as soon as he turned to look or even lost his footing; choose.

These are thrill killers, him a uncoordinated jellybean. He just has too many chances with these killers throughout.

The writer would have you believe that just because your son is murdered in cold blood vengeance belongs to you with impunity from harm and that blind luck counts.

Then the remaining son is kidnapped and.......zzzzzzzzz,

...just another reason why in America you need to own firearms....

Good performances, good production, like its reviews list. But it is rubbish.

A little pornographic in portrayal of senseless murder, close to shocking as the Helter Skelter killings. Not really slasher as perverse.

Revisited - again

It's OK for the fans, a little nostalgic escape.

I cannot find 150 characters to sufficiently describe the film, watch it, don't watch it, it won't make any difference.

Warning: Spoilers
"what have I done?", goes Rob after he shoots Kara in the stomach 35 minutes into the film.

'What have I done?' I echo. Hahahah.

Besides the script jumping schizophrenically like it's suffered an attack by the cropping machine and the laughable plot, it's main character's certainly be shouldn't be in the woods without suitable supervision.

Along comes Wesley to save the day. No doubt he believes in himself. Yet it's enough to continue watching.

Somehow the dodo kids think they're better off without the 'Hunter', veteran astronaut, alien abductee and the one that got away in 'Deliverance'. Yet like a true hero of the Wild West takes them aside and tunes them in on what has really been happening these past years and gives them some hope of escaping the terrible ordeal he suffered 20 years earlier...etc etc.

So with weathered actor Wesley at the helm I continue on...most likely so will most who shelled out hard earned...for so little return...

Is 15 mins of fame worth it???

It is so vacuous I will struggle to find 150 words to describe what is invariably a summary of as a society we're F#_&*D.

Is that 150 yet?

Warning: Spoilers
Disappointed only a short time into the second episode, and unfortunately had had enough of the constant murdering which quickly overshadowed the plot.

It started with promise even with multiple slaughters cementing the storyline however it continues on in the next episode.

John Cusack's feeble character not being able to outmaneuver an Audio Bunny's interview question put another 'shot' into the flailing narrative.

Suddenly it seemed perfectly adapted to disgruntled tweens fantasizing how to deal with the constant annoyances that plague them.

Riveting...mmmhhhh
2 February 2022
I don't know what to say, expect a mediocre movie, despite the music score constantly exaggerating the suspense, none actually materialised.

The audio and photography are ok and moves with enough pace, it's just a lackluster portrayal, you find yourself reluctant to invest in any of the characters, they don't sell the part.

The script doesn't help, it dictates the plot and sentiment instead of having it infuse into the storyline.

These Mavericks are as deep as puddle on the sidewalk.

A great insight into the self serving American bureaucracy and their buck passing.

I am stunned that the security of American citizens was in control of so many egomaniacs. Absolutely no flow of communication between anyone.

It is remarkable, considering the amount of intelligence that was harnessed, that this occurred and that the death toll wasn't greater.

Could Sean Bean get anymore boring. He's as menacing as a goat Even for 2010 the humour is outdated.

Wooden acting from all. The plot is a standard variation of some many of Hollywood movies.

IRRESPONSIBLE
12 October 2021
Typically America is thinking their 'Rights' take precedence over duty to the people who will suffer and those who will die from this virus.

The character's reckless abandon to the only logical weapon against the increase of infection rate, isolation, and the obviously insufficient personal protection against the airborne agent that kills in 24 hours is ridiculous.

To promote this as a scary dystopian future is a little over the top, especially when the freedom of movement is what the profiteers desire.

How can you take a movie seriously when the 'elite' of society fail to have any sense of self preservation. 20mins in...and it's so cringeworthy. The entire 'family' of explorers performance is so forced and plastic. Really Don Cheadle, how disappointing.

Typical Propaganda
21 February 2021
Typical for the era. Romantic view of WWII, bits of war footage thrown together for added reality with no real cohesion (scored a direct hit..shown bombs landing in woods, haha). Still, enjoyed it as kid ... wary of the message these days. Nothing glamorous about war. And that campaign does reek a little of payback rather than genuine military strategy.

No Need For This

America has it's fair share of problems and doesn't need unrequited film of this nature. It normalises the portrayal of very real personalities that are in a natural sense completely devoid of any societal or human effigy.

The Power of Thought

In my early twenties I had cracked heels. My girlfriend was disgusted by them and asked why I didn't do something about it. Like what? She visited her family during some holidays and returned with a tube of cream. Cost $7.00. Not that cheap at the time. A small squirt (3/4") on the heels, then wrap with clingfilm and leave for a couple of hours. I still had more than 90% of the tube. Which I never needed again.

What would Vladimir Putin do?
14 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
What would Vladimir Putin do? Not walk into the lion's den unaccompanied surrounded by men in full combat regalia. ...pleeaaassse....kmn. The plot isn't that far removed from Red October, down to the analyst who dares venture against the grain of the Admiralty and catches the Chief Executive's attention. Haven't seen to the end, yet, not that riveting. ps Gerard Butler really belongs at Disney, that way there may be some sort credibility to his roles

POOR TASTE
6 February 2021
I think Sly has overstepped the mark with this one. Well made production but simply the wrong choice in vehicles to promote his long running character Rambo. The reality of the 'industry' may be accurately portrayed, I don't know, essentially the movie is about Rambo and his self styled form of vengeance. To use the horror of this 'business' to justify Rambo's brutality is plain wrong. In my view.

BS
6 February 2021
Only slightly better than San Andreas, more believable than 2012, ultimately Hollywood script writing convenience. More and more Hollywood is relying on idiocy of the main players to supply the plot. Great parenting by the Mum to get them into that situation first place.

They Finally Get Out
6 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I like Daniel Redcliffe, his films have good subject matter and he generally puts in a good performance. No different this time. The film starts well and builds into a steady momentum, enough going on to keep the connection with the characters. However 3/4 into the movie some of the action is overdone, too much fingernail biting turns into annoyance and some dialogue and scenes seem to place the tension on hold, with attempting to expand the plot. Simplicity would have been the Key to keep the connection with the characters. The story on it's own is enough, yeh, a bit of unnecessary scenes trying reinforce the nuance when from the onset it was successfully applied. There are few bits that come close to being out of sync with the general flow and is slighty rushed as they escape, while unnecessary intreractions are used in an attempt to slow it down. As result there is no great relief at their freedom.

Hollywood Convenience
2 February 2021
Like pretty much everything Hollywood this swaps credibility for convenience. A dark movie, that relies on it's blackness. There is no suspense created and the police shift around America like it's the Jetsons. Surprisingly John Travolta goes a long in making this an ordinary experience...if its raining outside and you don't feel like doing a jigsaw puzzle then watch this.

FOR NON-FANS ONLY
30 January 2021
I've read a few reviews from Stephen King groupies...and fair enough. The 1994 series had me mesmerized, though I had let it slip from memory. So this was exciting. Really if life came down to these characters, we are mince. It's so hard to identify with the 'righteous' at times, they seem oblivious to the world they're in. And the 'unclean' are really bland, the depravity is what you'd see going on if the world never went through this 'apocalypse' anyway. There is no awe at the Man himself, though he presents as the most watchable character...I don't know if there is enough going on to pique the interest to see it through.
