Spirit Lost (1996)
Beautiful Set Design + Compelling Story
I was so glad to stumble upon this title. Despite a small budget, this film packs a punch in terms of world building and storytelling. It gave me feelings reminiscent of Practical Magic, which I love. The early 90s witchy aesthetic is iconic and now I want to paint my house the same color blue as the house in the story.
Mare of Easttown (2021)
High Drama and OMG the accents!
I'm loving this series on so many levels. The mystery and drama are something I look forward to each Sunday. Also, as someone with close family from Philly/Delco who also lived in Philly for ten years... the accents are SLAYING ME! I can't believe it. I don't recall really ever hearing the Philly accent as I know it on screen, even in films that take place there. It sometimes feels like I've walked in on a conversation at my aunt's house...minus the murder stuff. The coldness and dreariness of southeast PA, the harshness of the lives of a lot of folks living there... they really created an authentic picture and I am o the edge of my seat watching it.
Made for Love (2021)
This series hits on so many levels...
As someone who was once in an abusive relationship where finances and power were used as controls... this series does an amazing job of showing a really truthful depiction of what it feels like with out re-traumatizing a viewer like myself AND it provides laughs, sharp social commentary, great characters and story telling. I loved it and can't believe it doesn't have higher ratings. Definitely worth the watch!
Butt Boy (2019)
Fun, Hilarious, Weird, Perfect
I had so much fun watching this film. I haven't really seen anything quite like it. The whole time you're thinking... "how the hell are they going to pull this off??" But it really works and it is such a worthwhile watch. Enjoy it!!
