Trying to be Surviving R. Kelly
2 February 2022
This show is trying to be the next Surviving R. Kelly, and though some of the revelations are shocking (I'm thinking of the incidents involving the bunnies who worked in the clubs - some awful stuff there), in general the women involved, like Holly, were adults who should have known what they were getting into. You don't move into a notorious sexual predator's mansion and accept all manner of gifts and money without knowing that something is expected in return. I'm not excusing HH's behavior, it was appalling, but these were not economically disadvantaged, often underage young girls recruited from the surrounding neighborhoods, as in the case of R. Kelly and the girls he abused. There really is no comparison.

CSI: Vegas (2021–2024)

Really, really wanted to love this!
18 November 2021
I have been dutifully watching CSI: Vegas from the first episode. I wanted to give it a chance because I loved the original CSI and I thought it would be great to see some of those old, beloved characters. Well, it is great to see them. The problem is with the new characters. I have no problem with the multicultural aspect of the cast - it makes sense that in a forensics lab in 2021 Las Vegas, there would be people of various races and ethnicities. I don't mind the "wokeness" - but what I do mind is lousy acting by people who have zero charisma. I've found myself fast forwarding through all parts that aren't directly Grissom/Sara/Hodges/Brass related. The original show had an ensemble cast with each character so well drawn, so complex and not always likable, but interesting - these people are boring and one dimensional. And as for the will they/won't they dynamic involving the two main CSIs - who cares??? (I will say that I don't mind the head of the lab - she's alright but she isn't enough to make this show worth watching, IMHO).

Makes you forget your troubles
15 October 2021
This has got to be one of the most hysterically funny comedies on TV. Just as funny as the movie, which is a rarity. For that half hour or so that I'm watching this, I forget all my troubles, it's that indescribably hilarious. I can't decide who is the funniest, everyone is a star. (But Colin Robinson belly dancing for Nandor's ascension day celebration - well, don't get me started. And every time Laszlo says the F word I absolutely lose it. He's a comedy genius).

Laughably bad acting, execrable CGI
5 October 2021
I thought the concept of this show was kind of intriguing and I was looking forward to checking it out. I sat and watched the entire episode because I was so stunned I could barely move, let alone change the channel. What are they smoking over there at NBC? This is horrendous - the acting is pathetic, the CGI circa maybe 2005 (and that's being generous) and the writing stinks. It doesn't help that the characters are incredibly unlikable. One episode is enough.

What exactly is the aliens' agenda?
11 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I agree with the reviewers who mention that the aliens are obviously smart enough to organize an interstellar (we assume) journey to Earth, a planet mostly covered in water (when they cannot swim) yet once they get to Earth they have no discernible organization, government, etc. They just basically wander about in a haphazard fashion killing humans. Ummm...okay? And do they understand English? We've seen no such indication, but they must if the survivors on that island felt it necessary to broadcast the existence of their little community in a really obtuse song-based code that most normal people under extreme stress with other things on their minds (like minute-to-minute survival) would not have the patience or time to think about and figure out. I really did enjoy the first movie. The second is basically a retread, seems dumber as well and the kids are WAY more annoying. And there's not enough of Emily Blunt.

Funny, light comedy
4 June 2021
I was pleasantly surprised with this show. Here in Canada we're not streaming it, it's on cable TV and I doubt that I'd actually pay a streaming service to watch it - but it's certainly a very entertaining way to spend 1/2 hour or so. I laughed out loud often watching the pilot, and though Busy Phillips isn't everyone's cup of tea I personally think she's hilarious. This show isn't trying to cure cancer, or COVID, it's just a funny, light comedy and I look forward to watching the rest of the season. I hope it's renewed.

Was a really good show but has gone downhill
28 April 2021
I can't understand why a police procedural that has good actors, good writing, good production values and, at least in the past, interesting story lines has to ruin everything by being overtly, annoyingly political every single episode. There is not one single episode that doesn't preach to us about some social issue. I get it, these are difficult times we are living in, but if I want to wallow in this stuff I will watch CNN. I watch this show for entertainment, but I guess the definition of entertainment has changed.

Don't get all the hate
6 April 2021
I can't understand the level of vitriol targeting this show - I mean, it's a pleasant little Canadian cop show, people need to relax a little. I also wasn't too impressed after the first episode but wow, the show has grown by leaps and bounds since then and I now look forward to it each week. Yes, of course the American actress is the best actor on the show, but what would you expect? Everyone else puts in a good effort and I think after this rookie season the show will be as good as any other cop show on TV, in fact, much, much better than the usual US fare. If people don't like it, they don't need to tune in, but I'm enjoying it immensely.

A disappointment
16 March 2021
I had high hopes for this series but after just 3 episodes it has devolved into soap operatic melodrama - short on science, long on emoting. The special effects are, in my opinion, dazzling for a network TV show and I thought that finally here was the new Fringe. And there's a built-in illogic to the show - see the other review, it's as though the public is unaware of all this magical stuff falling from the sky, only this small group of "scientists" - huh?
