Werewolf by Night (2022)
Pretty good
That was pretty good. The best part was probably the directing. I liked how the arena felt, kind of greek buildings in a forest, it worked pretty well. The music was also pretty good for the most part, but at some times average. I didn't really get scared at all, but I didn't go into this expecting that so it's fine. My main problem is the dialogue. I don't think the dialogue fits with the tone Giaccino is trying to bring, which is a shame bc I think it easily could have worked better if the dialogue was better. I also didn't really seem to care all that much about the characters, probably because of the dialogue again, but it's a short film so I'm more lenient on that. I liked the ending a lot, it was cool to see Jack and Ted talking, especially in color. Idk what camera Giaccino used but it felt old and grainy and it worked great, especially in color. I also didn't expect to see Elsa Bloodstone and Man Thing in this, so that was a pleasant surprise. Overall it's pretty good, but not amazing. As always I much prefer this (marvel taking risks), over the same old thing every time, even if the risks fail. 7.5/10.
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Great
I had a great time watching this. It was fun and memorable. I liked the action, visually it was great with the color grading and cinematography, character arcs were pretty good with Thor learning to love again only to lose it again then find it in a child, Jane was really interesting and I liked watching her deal with cancer and I thought it was a good ending where she essentially killed herself to save the universe but she went to Valhalla so that was a good ending. Christian Bale did great with his performance being the selling point for his character. The story was really good, making complete sense and having lots of logic backing it. My problems are that I think the movie is too fast paced, at least in the first act. The humor didn't work at all, which it doesn't have to, marvel movies aren't necessarily comedies, but I think I expected it to be funny b/c of Ragnarok. But that's it. I had a really good time watching this movie.
Moon Knight (2022)
Weak and uninteresting beginning, really strong ending
I didn't enjoy the first 4 episodes very much. Arthur was one dimensional, Steven was annoying, Layla didn't have much chemistry with Steven or Marc, I wasn't invested in the plot, bad or lacking action, and visually it lacked a lot. But these last two episodes have been amazing. Made Arthur a more interesting and developed character, Steven became less annoying and more of just a nice and enjoyable person, Layla had more chemistry with Marc and Steven (mainly bc she became an avatar too), made the plot more interesting with Marc and Steven dying and going to an asylum and previous memories and it was cool seeing Amit be a psychopath, action was well choreographed and pretty good, and it looked good with the green, blue and purple lighting, a lot less of the annoying yellow lighting. Also Jake was really cool to see.
Moon Knight: The Tomb (2022)
Definitely better than the previous 3
Honestly, this episode was very important for this show. It not only progressed the plot and made the characters way more interesting, but it also gave us a crazy cliffhanger and a new mystery. Honestly, I didn't care about the plot or the characters before this episode, but this one def made it all more interesting. There was still some wack stuff tho, like the hippo scream at the end (which the entire asylum scene was building up to btw), the fact that Layla kissed Steven, even though their relationship is def not romantic, the fact that the mummy thing wrecked Layla off the side of the cave, yet she somehow managed to grab on to the ledge. Other than that it was pretty good, definitely needed for the show to be better than a 6 imo.
Moon Knight: Summon the Suit (2022)
Better than the first, but still a little wack
Definitely better than the first episode. I loved the beginning, with Steven freaking out, not sure if he's insane or not. I loved Oscar's acting, especially towards the end when he was screaming at Steven. The humor got a little annoying, especially in the final fight with Mr Knight. That entire fight was wack until Moon Knight came in, but that still wasn't amazing. He just ran away and took him out in one hit. I enjoyed Steven and Layla's talking, the actors definitely have some good chemistry. I'm not sure how I feel about the changes from the comics, like how Mr Knight is controlled by Steven instead of being his own personality. And I'm not sure how I feel about how Marc doesn't have DID, he was just put in this body. As long as they do it well in the later episodes I'll be fine with it. But the ending definitely got me hyped for the next episode, and the rest of the season.
Moon Knight: The Goldfish Problem (2022)
It feels, weird
And in a bad way. I'm not really sure what to think about this show. I feel like maybe the directing is off, or maybe it just doesn't feel like a moon knight show. The tone is all over the place. I get Stephen is quirky and a dork, but that gets annoying when he wakes up with blood all over him and a broken jaw, and says "that was weird". WHAT?! No one would react like that. It's a bad way of bringing the same MCU charm to this show. I don't love the use of licensed music. We are shown Stephen in his bed, with a chain around his foot, but it's lighthearted? There's licensed music playing. Why isn't this more serious? It's clear they couldn't go daredevil with it bc of how they cut away from the action, in a clever way but it still sucks. But I don't feel like we'll ever get to see some actual action, because when we do see moon knight fight, it's against a cgi monster and it's facing the other way. Apparently the villain wants a beetle, for his god? I guess this will be answered in later episodes, but idk it feels weird. Some of these shots are actually bad, which is rare for the MCU. Usually the worst these projects will have is just reverse shots when talking, or just a basic shot, but not bad shots. These shots are bad. There was no threat or suspense in the action scenes, idk why, just didn't feel any threats. The dialogue is also really basic. But, I think Oscar Isaacs performance is really good. I enjoy the mystery, even though I already knew what was happening the whole time. I guess the show don't tell rule kind of worked, idk. I think a lot of these problems could be fixed in the next few episodes. Since Stephen is gonna be interacting with Marc and MK, it'll be cool to see the dynamic and hopefully Marc's seriousness will be a good contrast to Stephen. I hope Moon Knight is witty like in the comics. I'm not completely sure if the voice in Stephens head was Khonshu or Moon Knight. If it's Khonshu I hate it. If it's Moon Knight I kind of like it. It matches MK personality pretty well and gives him a somewhat menacing voice. But it isn't a menacing enough voice for a literal god, so. Anyways, I'm just kind of venting. I really expected more, but it's fine.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)
30 extra minutes of pointless fighting
This movie is not good. Lex Luther is just mark Zuckerberg. Superman is still a bad guy, Batman is secondhand killing people, the entire plot is pointless. Essentially just lex Luther wanting to kill Superman, but so does Batman. Why doesn't lex team up with Batman and kill Superman, then kill Batman. It'd be much easier to kill a god with a partner, then kill the human afterwards. Batman for some reason cares about Superman by the end, even though the only heart to heart they had was that their mothers have the same name. Doomsday looks horrible, WW is here for some reason. I honestly feel like Snyder hates Superman, because he made Superman way more like batman than batman was, then he made Superman essentially a villain, had batman beat him, then had Superman die in the end. What an utterly pointless film. And people claim this version is better, but it's literally just 30 minutes of more action. Literally does nothing for the plot. What an utter waste of three hours.
