Teen Titans (2003)
A series that deserves to be on TV again!
Teen Titans is a classic underrated series that deserves to be played on TV again. While this series is mostly aimed at teens due to the struggles the characters face in their not-so-normal life, kids and even adults can enjoy too. In the beginning we are introduced to the group and learning about their relationship with not only each other, but also themselves. Some characters struggle with heavy topics that most teens face in their life and the writers/creators wrote these to connect the targeted audience with the characters. As the show goes on, we learn more about their teamwork and the struggles they face as individual superheroes, but we also see the story build up more as the group face more challenges. You're taken into each life of every character to understand what makes them who they are. If this series is ever picked up for a renewal, I hope they don't change much of it as they do with other renewals. This series deserves all the hype.
(No wonder I was so engrossed into this series as a teen myself. Raven and I have a lot in common.)
Blue's Clues (1996)
Hooked from the First Episode!
If you haven't seen Blues Clues and you're looking for an educational show for your children - I highly recommend this one! It's educational, but not in a fast-pace way, and the animation is simple. Most kid shows involve loud sounds, fast-learning or quick-thinking. As someone who grew up with a learning disability, this show helped me a lot when it came to learning in a way that I needed with a twist of fun!
I was born a few days before this series aired and my mother always said it kept me entertained. Steve is such a wonderful teacher as well. He's very soft-spoken and gives off a friendly vibe to viewers watching. This show is basically designed to make the children viewing feel as if they are watching a friend on screen. Subtly teaches drawing as well! There are many wonderful things to love about this show, and your children learn with each step.
As I've mentioned before, this show makes children feel as if they are watching on screen, so they are learning healthy habits of what it takes to be a friend by watching Blue and her friends interact! With that being said, when Steve leaves for college it's obvious as children we developed some sort of attachment to him and we didn't want to see him go, but that is a challenge the show brought. With Joe being introduced and Steve heading off we had to learn to overcome our comfort by being introduced to a new person in our lives. (Not a lot of other children shows do this.)
With time most of us accepted this challenge in the show, while still missing Steve, but we learned not all things stay the same. Which I feel is something that is needed to help kids understand that life has its moments where you'll feel out-of-place, because something you've grown attached too is out of place. (That episode REALLY came in handy when my parents divorced.) And that is something that's important to slowly introduce to children.
This has nothing to do with the review, but the episode when Paprika was born is iconic and I still remember that exciting moment to this day.
Lost (2004)
A series that keeps you guessing and glued to the screen
Lost is honestly the best sci-fi TV series we've ever had. It wasn't perfect, but it was good enough to keep on for so many seasons without being cancelled because viewers didn't lose interest. This series kept you guessing and wanting to know more about the characters and the mystery behind the island. Personally, I hope in the far future this show get's remade into the masterpiece it could've been. (It's great as it is, but it does lack in areas. Ex: graphics.) There's some character development and a little bit of diversity. Also, I love this show because there's little-to-no clichés. If you're an enemy-to-lovers fan than yes I suggest this series. Speaking of, I love how they don't focus on JUST romance as series/movies today do. Every show I watch seems to involve so much romance it's in every scene - even if a character is near death. The writers/directors/producers/whoever who filmed Lost attempted to perfectly capture believable character reactions in many obstacles' throughout the series. Unfortunately, the ending is a let down. This is my second time watching Lost and I still have no understanding of what it means. It seems like the creators rushed to end the show after years of working on it, and that in itself is a let down to viewers who adore and love this show. Overall I still enjoy it, but I hope next time around the future creators give us an ending this series deserved. Can't wait to watch more shows like this because I honestly cannot get enough.
