True Lies (2023)
Tries and fails to capture 80s and 90s action movies
This show is just horrible all around. You'll basically see every cheesy, campy action movie or show from the 80s to early 00s. Problem is the people that did those earlier things did it much, much better. When campy cheese happened in older action/spy media you didn't think it was cheesy, you thought "cool" "bad ass" "awesome." These show runners cannot capture of the old school stuff at all despite trying to heavily rely on said cliches and plot points. When it happens in this I just cringe and think it's lame.
The horrible, completely unrealistic 'mission brief' stuff that happens. The graphic of them assigning the team members, the goofy gadgets that's in the realm of impossible. Everything in this is a cliche you've already seen but done poorly. I really wish they would have dragged out the wife not knowing and him having comedic problems trying to hide it, or almost getting busted by some weird chance (wife could have been in a conference, Harry is tasked to spy on someone there and boom she finds out, or they drag it out and he gets away with it. Them instantly rushing to the wife discovering him and then instantly being thrown into training to work with him in the field was idiotic.
The lead actress is annoying, there's no chemistry between any of the characters. It's really coming off as them trying to appeal to action junkie tween and teen boys. Problem is even most video games they play have better cinematic stories and acting than this. I really don't see this getting a season 2. It's just too cheesy and cringe. But not cheesy in a good way.
La Brea (2021)
Everyone is unlikable and of course the cheating is HIS fault.
Pretty much all of the female characters are annoying. For some reason the parents are letting their one legged daughter join them on a heist mission where she'll be facing off against guys that walk miles upon miles a day.
The main male character is a beta simp that's apologizing to his CHEATING wife. The entire cheating/triangle drama blame is basically all placed on the guy (of course) and he's sitting there saying HE needs to earn her trust back and apologize? So they really wrote this dude that was RIGHT about his visions by the way so effeminate he's apologizing to his wife for cheating and trying to earn her trust back. LOL LIKE WHAT?!
Pretty much every scene with the mother and or daughter annoys me. Veronica takes the cake, this girl is stuck in 10,000 BC and she's concerned with literally ever other thing than what she actually needs to be concerned with, you know like wolves that eat people. Her insane anger is just silly and irrational. ALL of these characters are extremely unlikable. The effeminate guy that's apologizing and fighting to win back his cheating wife, the super serious dude chasing his wife, the annoying stoner, the stereotypical 'bad boy.'
Awesome concept, horrible characters. The CGI also leaves little to be desired. Super hero shows on the CW from early 2000s looks better than this. Which shouldn't be happening.
The D'Amelio Show (2021)
None of these people have talent
I remember when in order to be rich and famous you had to at the very least be talented. When the Kardashians first became a thing they were mocked and laughed at. "Famous for being famous" was generally what was said. Now the bar has gotten even lower which is mind blowing. We're now giving reality shows to teens that gained followers poorly lip syncing and dancing and all they could do is do it for 30 seconds.
This show basically sums up everything that's wrong with social media and society today. Social media has bred nothing but rampant narcissism. If we're going to make people rich and famous, can't that at LEAST be talented?
Resident Evil (2022)
Yikes is this a CW show?
This really feels like a drama with a zombie backdrop that'd be on the CW. That's not a good thing.
Of course we got edgy, woke teenagers that drop F bombs every two seconds. Whole thing is a yikes. Granted I'm only on episode 2 at the moment.
The Orville: A Tale of Two Topas (2022)
Coulda went south with wokeness with most other writers
Thankfully that wasn't the case. I could only imagine how woke, obnoxious and preachy this could have been if some other ultra woke, pronoun in twitter bios writers did this episode. Thankfully that wasn't the case. This episode was obviously about trans stuff but it was done very well and you were basically cheering Topa on the entire time.
There was one meh line in it though about a kid's choice and that the should be able to decide. Topa's actual age was never stated. There's a huge difference between a 16 year old deciding something and a 5 year old, just sayin.
The Orville: Mortality Paradox (2022)
Amazing episode
Very well done. Not to mention the look of it at the end was amazing. I found myself wondering what was going on the entire episode. Then when I thought it was all figured out another big twist. Probably one of the most enjoyable episodes in the entire series.
Mayans M.C.: When the Breakdown Hit at Midnight (2022)
Nice finale but EZ's 180 gave me whiplash
He was originally the rat and the most self-righteous goody two shoes one of the gang. He went from that to cold blooded, power hungry murderer in like 2 episodes LOL like what?
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022)
Finally a non-woke Star Trek that actually explores 'strange new worlds'
I've really disliked the past few star trek shows for the simple fact it seemed to just be political crap and people were fighting each other. There was always some type of war happening. So I found myself going "Yo I just wanna see them explore new alien planets and make first contact. You know, exactly what Star Trek is supposed to be"
Thankfully this is it. Every episode they come across some new planet they don't know much about, problems arise because of it and they solve it. So far this show has been much better than the previous ones, that's for sure.
Chicago Med (2015)
Started out great, but after losing some of their main cast it's bad now.
I really dislike how Will is pretty much the main character now. Most attention is on him. The problem is: He's the least likeable one on the show. He's basically a wet blanket and every single girl he looks at for more than 2 seconds he instantly falls in love with. Not to mention his constant moral grandstanding and butting in in things he doesn't belong. Not to mention the actor himself has about charisma and screen presence of a rock.
Even back in the earlier seasons he was always on the lowest rung of the ladder as far as characters go. So imagine my shock when he essentially got front and center.
The whole cop doctor (of course..) subplots are annoying. This is a medical show, not Chicago PD. If I wanted to watch a cop show, I'd watch one.
NCIS: Hawai'i (2021)
Entertaining but they really push the LGBT relationship
The only thing worse than having relationships and drama based around it in these types of shows is when it involves two characters that have zero chemistry. What's even worse than that when it becomes blatantly obvious they push it so much. I mean it takes up 15% of screen time each episode and has been touched on almost every single one. Then when you learn it's a LGBT it all makes sense.
And it doesn't even involve the main character. So weird how it's pushed so much.
The Rookie: Day in the Hole (2022)
So is this a comedy show now?
You'd expect our main character and a few people he cares about being alone, stranded with a rookie cop and zero backup and heavily outnumbered would be a nervous nail biter. Yet this was the most comedic episode of the season. Alan tudyk is always a win, but he's a goofy character in this the entire time. Pete Davidson being in it well, you know how that goes. Instead of his rookie cop shooting a guy that had him pinned to the wall Alan's character hands him a few plates to break upside his head. It was like a was watching the looney tunes. Which is weird considering this show has been serious every time.
NCIS: Hawai'i: Rescuers (2021)
forced cringe wokeness
This show is barely scraping by. Any attempts at injecting wokeness in will probably kill this show faster.
More so the extremely forced relationship between whistler and lucy. They are treating it like someone's diffusing a bomb, like it's some huge life threatening thing. Super weird.
Dexter: New Blood (2021)
Of course we have forced diversity
In real life a town like that would literally be 98% white followed by maybe a few native americans.
Yet of course we have every color of the rainbow + the token gay couple. LOL.
Day of the Dead (2021)
It's improving. Episode 4 was way above the previous 3.
90% of the cast is just horrible at acting. It reminds me of Korean and Japanese live action stuff where they don't do subtle expressions but rather they exaggerate the ever living crap out of it. Which ultimately just comes across as cringe bad acting.
Thankfully the people it focused on in the recent episode was fine. Makeup is fine, the decision making is dumb. But then again if something like that actually happened you'd have a bunch of confused idiots running around like chickens with their heads cut off so maybe the stupid decisions we see is actually realistic.
If terms of quality if you're expecting the walking dead that's not going to be the case. I think a lot of people might be mad at the fact Z-Nation got cancelled yet we get this, which is objectively much worse. Episode 4 made me decide to keep watching though. There has been a slight increase in quality.
Day of the Dead: Forest of the Damned (2021)
It's getting better
Some of the actors are atrocious, thankfully this episode around it focused on at least passably decent ones. Some of the decision making is mind numbingly bad (the bridge scene towards the end) but this episode was a big improvement over the last 3.
Creamerie (2021)
Thought I'd hate it
Thought I'd hate it due to the feminism and wokeness. Turns out the authoritarian feminist group is the bad 'guy' in this show. Really does realistically explore the "what-ifs" if this actually happened. Granted I'm sure society pretty much shut down when men died off. But that remains to be seen. Nice mix of comedy and drama so far.
