Vampir (2021)
soulless
A very promising film with great locations, and a decent story.
However the camerawork is shaky at best, and except for one or two acceptable locations it never shines or manages to pull off anything remotely scary.
Most of the scenes are shot in the daylight which does confuse the overall nature and intent of the film.
There are a plethora of vampire films out there to choose from, but this fails in almost every department which is a real shame.
The main characters performance is so wooden he could've staked the entire village in one sentence.
A shame really as this could've been something special.
Kyô Samurai Musashi (2020)
Did anyone actually get killed?
Totally unrealistic.
95% of the actors who supposedly get killed either fall behind a tree/building, get concealed by a couple of other actors, or stumble out of the camera field of view. Only to reappear minutes later.
When the camera eventually pans around only 2-3 bodies are there instead of a pile of around 60+ corpses.
You end up watching the same repeated sequence over and over... one person at a time attacks, gets pommelled on the head, crawls off screen, and reappears a few minutes later.
I guess due to the lack of actors involved this was necessary, but this is child's playground fare in its execution. An army being represented by a dozen or so people constantly running around the cameraman is beyond acceptable.
Beyond Fury (2019)
Hollyoaks with violence
Yes it's got a lot of gore and violence. It's also got some of the most abysmal acting I've ever witnessed.
Awkward character presence, stilted monologues, and wooden acting abound do nothing to lift this past an amateurish offering.
Army of the Dead (2021)
Expensive trash
For a film that cost more than it'd cost to develop a cure for cancer or eradicate Covid worldwide, you'd think they'd have created something a little worthwhile to watch. But sadly this misses the thematic mark by a mile.
When it 'eventually' gets going, It's nothing but a gung-ho, balls to the wall mediocre, plot hole ridden, action film, with no scares, or suspense at all.
As for the cast... you'll care for them as much as a vase of wilted flowers.
There are a dozen or so zombie movies out there that cost a fraction of this steaming heap, yet surpass it on every level.
