The Phenomenon (2020)
Really?
They used the McMinnville UFO photos in the documentary as evidence of aliens, the same photos that were proven to be a hoax multiple times. Wow. And a ton of anecdotal stories to fill in the time. As always. This is just another documentary with the same nonsense we've seen and heard a thousand times over the decades. Created solely to pick the pockets of the gullible who desperately want aliens to be real. Not worth your time.
Immanence (2022)
Wow
The plot went from possible contact with extraterrestrials to Satan. I just don't know what else to say. I'm floored. Why the writers thought this was a good idea is probably beyond all human understanding. Aside from that, the acting was below average except from two well-known actors who at times delivered their lines with almost no motivation. 3/10. Watch if you are bored.
The Girl in the Woods (2021)
Pretty good.
This is a supernatural teen show but with an atypical and rather interesting plot. The main character, Carrie, grew up in an isolated cult deep in the woods that dedicates itself to keeping nightmarish monsters locked away behind a mystical door, all to nobody in the outside world's knowledge. She eventually leaves the cult for reasons unknown and the story goes from there.
The writing is far from stellar. It's obviously not going for any awards, but the show is entertaining enough to keep you watching. Not everyone will like it though, and that's fine. The episodes are short so it's not a time-sink. Watch the first episode and decide from there.
If you're wondering why a few people are calling the show "woke," it's because the main girl is gay, and the female co-star is black, with the male-costar being non-binary. That's enough to have some people hate the show. Skip it if that bothers you.
Aliens: Zone of Silence (2017)
Boring
Half the movie is a woman walking in the desert, and sitting inside a tent at nighttime. You'll hear a few growling sounds here and there along with camera glitches during the nighttime, which is supposed to indicate the aliens are nearby, but nothing beyond that. The movie has no tension, no atmosphere, no actual payoff for sitting through the entire thing. I was bored after the first 30 minutes. The acting was subpar, and the filming is what you'd expect from a found footage film. The one positive thing was the CGI for the ending scene. That was all right. And I emphasize "all right." The entire budget must've gone into those 2 minutes. Other than that, you'll see lights buzzing in the sky two or three times. That's the extent of the alien presence. 3/10. Unless you're an alien movie junkie, skip it.
