Bad Comedy, but a good adventure flick......
7 June 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Now, I usually like Will Ferrel movies and this one is no exception, but I didn't like it for its 'comedy'. Basically, there aren't many funny jokes, only a few laugh out loud moments, and too many gags that go on far too long as well as a few ad libs. Will Ferrel's character is once again a stuck up moron who gets laughs (very few in my movie) for his stupidity and failures. The girl who plays Holly is a smart young woman who unfortunately falls for Ferrel for one reason or another. Danny McBride is a hick who gets a few chuckles but I wish his character was a bit more serious than he is in the movie. Chaka is funny and cute but doesn't have a lot of screen time. Now for the plot. After being transported to the Land of the Lost (LOL), Rick Marshall, Holly, and Will need to find an instrument that will take them back to our dimension. The movie has some good cgi, awesome action scenes and some truly shocking scenes with dinosaurs and Sleestacks that might even make a teenager jump. So if you're going to see this movie, don't expect a comedy. Watch it for what it REALLY is: a tame, action adventure.

Spider-Man 3 (2007)

Not bad, but Over-hyped

Don't listen to all of the users who claim it's the WORST FILM EVER, you should already know they're exaggerating but sometimes they seem serious. If you're like me, you loved the first two Spider-Man films and couldn't wait for the third. So, you watched the first two a million times, looked up all the information, viewed the trailers until you knew every moment by heart and then you went to go see the film. And what happened? You were disappointed. The film is filled with some cheesy moments, bad dialogue, and moments that you know you could have written better... but it's still NOT terrible. It's just not very good. It's got some good performances, nice fight scenes, and some cool villains (although they aren't used properly) and enough moments to keep you entertained. Take my advice, see the movie but don't expect TOO much.

Get Smart (2008)

Get Smart couldn't Get Funny.

I have never seen the original show but I have heard of it and I always heard it was supposed to be witty.... That DEFINITELY was not this movie! This movie was filled with pathetic dialogue you could TELL they thought would be funny that nobody laughed at, lame attempts at physical humor (Scary Movie 4 did it better!), and unpleasant moments with Steve Carell (what is up with him being so smug in his movies now? Who finds that funny?). And the weird thing is I feel that people might feel like they were SUPPOSED to like this movie. I've had to see it twice and in both showings there weren't that many laugh moments and yet I hear people leaving say how much they loved it! It's like, "Where you watching another movie on your ipod too?" Another bad thing about this movie was it's a bad spy adventure. It seemed like they put HALF the thought into the adventure part they put into the jokes (and it shouldn't even be POSSIBLE to put that little thought into something!). It's just the average "evil" organization who's rarely seen throughout the entire movie has taken some nuclear weapons and is planning on holding the world hostage for a large sum of money. Well guess how predictably it ENDS! The only positives of this movie are the performances of Alan Arkin (who has THE funniest line in the movie), Dwayne Johnson (who had his funny line deleted in favor of an unfunny line from Terry Crews) and Anne Hathaway, who proves to be ten times funnier and more enjoyable than Steve Carell thinks he is. For your sake, go find a comedy that is ACTUALLY funny! (My advice is to stay away from Steve Carell!)

Hulk (2003)

I got so angry I thought I'd turn into the Hulk!

Warning: Spoilers
I admit, I've never read the Hulk comic books but I didn't read Spiderman either and I know I loved those movies (including the third one!). But this one..... Oh, it redefines crap!! I would rather watch Daredevil or the Fantastic Four than sit through this garbage! First off, it's far too long (and I'm one of those people who'd like to see a long accurate Harry Potter) I was almost falling asleep in my chair (even during the 'action' scenes). Second, towards the ending where he keeps having those weird dream sequences, I don't really know how to describe them but I remember I kept saying okay let's move on now!!! And finally, I don't remember how he beat his dad (whatever villain he was) but I'm surprised that he was able to beat him and escape to Mexico???? What the Hell was up with that?? OOOOOOOOOOOhhhhh God!!! I don't wish this movie upon anybody!!!! Go see something better like.... anything else!
