Dune: Part Two (2024)
An honor to the book
Not only was the film gorgeous, music amazing and acting phenomenal, but they actually stayed pretty true to the book. There were a few variations which I understand why they did (ex- adding in child actors would be difficult) but was still a little sad about. Otherwise, the plot very closely followed the original. For those who didn't read the book, it's still a great story and very enjoyable film. The CGI was well done and the costumes made it feel very authentic. I see why Hans Zimmer wanted to do this movie. He slightly deviated from his usual instruments and made a phenomenal soundtrack. I'd definitely recommend watching!
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023)
Delightful
I could write a big review about this but instead I'll just sum it up in one word: delightful.
Family friendly, witty, engaging, everything you want in a movie. I've missed movies like this where you enter a new, fun, world. Dare i say this is the 2023 lord of the rings (vibe wise) with a little bit of Chris pine satire sprinkled on top. The acting and humor was top notch and refreshing. We left giggling and smiling from such a fun time. Anyone can see this, I don't think you have to be a D&D player to enjoy it. I don't know much about D&D but I still loved it. Worth the watch for sure! 10/10!
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
Perfect bridge
This is the perfect bridge between episode 3 and 4. How did Leia know who Obi Wan was in episode 4? What was he up to during all the time in the cave? Similar to rogue one, we know how this ends, the good guys get away, etc. But this fills in the tiny things we had questions about. The development of Obi Wan is phenomenal, the relationship with him and Leia will melt your heart, and the show will (at the very least) entertain you.
The Last Tourist (2021)
Phenomenal
Pros and cons are evaluated in a heartbreaking yet heartwarming story. As a documentary lover, I can be picky about these so I truly mean it when I say I was blown away. So glad I watched it. I hope everyone has the chance to see this film.
Eternals (2021)
Worth the watch
I'll admit, a lot was crammed into one movie making it long (I would be ok with 2 movies), but it was worth it. It was a marvel movie with substance, good acting, amazing visuals and a lot of potential. I felt like the actor "diversity" wasn't forced or focused on. Everyone was just a character with a specific purpose and not trying to flaunt being the first marvel movie with so much diversity. I wish all the marvel movies were like this.
Dune (2021)
Well done
Overall very well done for a movie following the book. There are a few scene transitions that may have missed the final editing check but it doesn't impact the integrity of the movie. I was pleasantly surprised and am anxiously awaiting the sequel.
