Cabin Fever (2002)
one of the greatest horror films ever
Possible spoilers(kinda of): i love horror films that offer no real set-up and no real ending. Horror i feel is the only genre that can do this. There was no explanation for the virus and that is fine, it is better than some scientist showing up at the end and saving everyone. films that feel they have to explain everything can get annoying. let the imagination play a little. Although i am aware that the general public enjoys crap where everything is explained to the minute detail and there is no thinking involved.
Phone Booth (2002)
good, but
I liked this movie it was a very interesting idea, although not orignal having seen "Liberty Stands Still" last year. Colin Farrell was excellent and Keifer Sutherland's voice was very intense. It was very edge of your seat for about an hour.
But... it was a hair over an hour long and made the 8.50 I paid seem overpriced. This would have been a great short film at a festival or on HBO. Although it would have been a little unbearable had this movie dragged on and saw the point of it ending when it did
As a p.s.- TURN OFF YOUR CELL PHONE IN THE THEATER OR I WILL IT SHOVE DOWN YOUR THROAT. Thank you.
Super Mario Bros. (1993)
be careful how you watch
I made the mistake of watching this movie the day i had knee surgery. So i was doped up on all kinds of pain killers and thought the movie was great. However a few years later i remembered how much i enjoyed the movie so i watched on tv when it was run agian. I was blown away with how horribly bad it was. I was also amazed on how much i remembered being in the movie that wasnt. so as the title says be careful how you watch. As a side note this is not an endorsement to do drugs just to make bad movies better.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)
geeks unite
I love this movie. I am one of those geeks that can quote it line for line. So with that said form your own opinion becuase mine is that this is top 2-3 comedies of all time as well top 10 of movies. The off-brand humor that the python boys have is incredible. It is a rare comedy that has intelligence as well as slap-stick. Though my opinion may be skewed becuase well i on three different versions of the film. Yes I am aware that that makes me a geek but i embrace the title
Gangs of New York (2002)
good but not
This film was incredible the cinematography, the acting, the script(it lacked in a few parts but what script is perfect), and the directing were all great. As if you couldnt sense the but, But it lacked passion. I use that word because i cant think of a better one. I left the theater thinking that was an incredible movie now why didnt i like it. The bad ending might have something to do with it but I have put up with bad endings before. I still can not put my finger on it, anyway it is worth seeing but dont expect to like it
Red Dragon (2002)
most excellent
this film is so far superior to the first to that it ceased to be funny
and borderlines on sad. Hannibal was one of the worst films I
have ever seen, and silence of the lambs was a good movie
except for jodie foster and that horrible accent. this movie is
defintely worth paying to say at the theater
American Psycho II: All American Girl (2002)
excellent
It is rare that a sequel is ever as good as the first. It is even rarer
when the sequel is better than the first. This is one of those
occasions. This movie is so much better than the first movie it
almost made me forget how much the first one sucked. It is very
funny and has some unexpected plot twists that might actually take
someone by suprise. Fun movie to watch.
Moulin Rouge! (2001)
odd
I just finished viewing this film an i must say i am completely
confused. first on why anyone would vote a 10 or how anyone
could vote a 1. This is the most sciophrentic(sic) movie I have
seen since Clockwork Orange. The first hour is like a major LSD
trip. I cannot in good conscience recommend this film but at the
same time I cannot help but recommend this movie. However It
should not be anywhere near the top 250
Eight Legged Freaks (2002)
great
this is a great movie for the sci-fi channel on Saturday afternoons.
I loved the fact that they payed homage to all the great "horror"
films of days of old. It is definitely worth seeing unless you are
afraid of spiders, then I recommend staying away from the theater.
The Time Machine (2002)
horrible
this is definitely not worth seeing even on rental. The only good
thing about it is the special effects. It makes absolutely no sense
and jumps through several plot holes. However given a choice
between this movie and say Gosford Park I would take this
everyday.
Gosford Park (2001)
Horrid putrid trash
Do not see this movie it is 2hrs of your life you will never have back. I see about a movie a week at the theaters and if I had driven to the theater instead of ridden with a friend a would have left. This is boring, boring, boring. The acting was sub-par the direction was pathetic, the script was confusing at best. It seems a shame that the Oscars will waste nominations on trash like this. I rank this with Wing Commander, Battlefield Earth, and Universal Soldier 2.
Series 7: The Contenders (2001)
its alright
the film it self is made to look exactly like an episode of cops and was not all that well acted. It was well scripted and I really liked the premise. I think if "reality" TV like that crap survivor, real world, and host of any other of these unimiganitive crap-fests arent stopped this will become real. So if you would like to see where we are headed rent this movie.
The Musketeer (2001)
Go for the action
The acting was decent and the script fairly consistent with past Musketeer movies but what put this movie apart was the action.
The fight scenes in this movie alone were worth the admission price. I however must say that Tim Roth was incredible in his role as Febre.
