Arrow (2012)
great new super hero show- keep him super
I love the show and haven't missed a minute of it yet, but that may change. The last episode I watched left me a little flat. Oliver Queen, who lived through five years of hell, hid from a death squad on a deserted island, did personal training with a man who was too dangerous to keep in prison, works out like an Olympian, is the best archer in the world (?), somehow gets his ass handed to him by some suit who works in an office?
It's pretty inconsistent when some shmuck off the street can take out our super hero at his own game. Either he's really really really good or he should hang up his hood. Don't make him into a loser who's the third best archer in the world and only a few girls can beat up. Make him exceptional or lose some fans. We really don't need another soap opera.
Mutant X (2001)
It's not the characters fault.
The writers simply don't get it. It's a science fiction super hero series. Shouldn't the main characters be super heroes? These guys are just DUMB. The bad guys are always better prepared, smarter and more disciplined than the good guys. The bad guys are always two steps ahead, and seem to have a game plan. Adam, a brilliant scientist who can crack the genetic code can't anticipate anything that the bad guys might do and stumbles into 5 traps per episode. Acting = OK Character = OK Special Effects = really good Premise = OK Writing = Makes me think of XMen meets dumb and dumber. Not very satisfying when you know in advance your hero will get his ass kicked and his head handed to him in every episode.
