Talk to Me (2022)
94 Minutes,that I'll never get back!
I am thoroughly confused as how this movie has a IMDb rating of 7.2. Because, I wish it was possible to give the horrendously stupid movie a Zero, and I am a major fan of horror movies. Yet this is an assortment of ignorant self-absorbed adolescents, none of which are likeable, a couple one might pity. But the main character has no redeeming qualities. The premise should have been a good one, but the direction it was taken in failed to focus on that, script was weak, and not very well acted, it felt to me at least that even the actors were bored, and seemed not only unlike able, but dumb. There are a number of truly gross scenes, so if that blows your skirt up you might like this. Yet, I was looking for genuine horror film, not one that made me vaguely nauseous. To make this movie even more disappointing the ending was predictable, and came off as a beg for a sequel.
Changeling (2008)
A True story of the cruelties of mankind, expertly portrayed by all involved
Changeling is considered a Biographical Crime Drama, but to me it is a character study based on true events, that depicts the cruelties that people in power either political, law enforcement, or criminal power commit on the rest of society. In the beautiful written, by WriterJ. Michael Straczynski.and directed, by Clint Eastwood, with heart wrenching performance by Angelina Jollie, who with John Malkovich skilfully portrayed those willing to stand up for others, and for what they believe in and in the case of Christine Collins no matter the cost. Yet, it is a truly heartbreakingly sad story primarily due to the writer and director staying true to the facts, at least as far as my research has been able to uncover. If you want to know more about this film, and the story of Christine Collins' lifelong search for her son then I recommend you watch it, but I cannot say it was an easy watch, but life as my mom used to say isn't fair, nor easy, and this is a true story of the Wineville Chicken Coop murders, the abduction of Walter Collins, and his mothers unwavering hope, and efforts to find her missing son. It is my hope that when she passed in her 70's she was reunited with him, because the alternative is just too cruel for me to fathom.
Boston Strangler (2023)
The Boston Stranglerfrom a different view
This film is a new angle on an old series of crimes, by setting it from the point of view, POV, of the reporters that covered the crimes attributed to the Boston Strangler. I found it interesting, an intelligent giving the viewer some things to think about even after the credits roll. I for one enjoy intelligent films, but I know that many prefer the instant gratification of having everything tied up in a neat little bow. Yet, it is well acted, well written and in my opinion a compelling look at the crimes society has been told were committed by Albert DeSalvo. I cannot be anymore specific without ruining this film for future viewers, except to say it is worth watching.
