House of Wax (2005)
8/10
Excellent for slasher fans!
10 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
House of wax is probably one of my favourite post-scream slashers, and I don't understand why people are complaining about it. The jumpscares were pretty good, it was a weird and different concept for a horror film, and the acting wasn't bad. I didn't mind the open ending and without a sequel you're left to ponder what would happen next, which I like! Bo and Vincent were quite enjoyable and interesting characters to watch on screen, and the main protagonist Carly was a cool character, and I really liked her. Overall, it's not deserving of the really bad reviews, but I can understand that it's not a film for everyone, but I personally really enjoyed it. A great film if you're a fan of slashers or if you're a horror fan in general.

Avatar (2009)

Beautiful CGI, characters and an excellent plot.

I watched Avatar shortly after it first came out, and even though I was very young, I remember it being one of my favourite movies (still is today). The movies plot and setting was different to anything I'd seen before, and with the release of Way of the Water and the other Avatar movies releasing in later years, seeing so much of Pandora and the creatures and people who inhabit it is so incredible. James Cameron is an absolute master of film creation, and this movie proves that 100%. All of the actors were absolutely incredible and did an excellent job in portraying their characters, and the amount of hard work that went into this film is crystal clear.

Boring and overrated.
18 December 2022
I remember watching this show when I was a kid, and I used to midly enjoy it (meaning if it was on, I'd watch it but if it wasn't, I wouldn't be upset about it). I recently decided to re-watch it cause I thought it would be nostalgic and bring back memories for me. I was disappointed when I watched almost the first two seasons, and realised how bad the show actually was. The animation style is good, and the story is also pretty good, but for some reason, watching it felt like a chore and even though I tried to force myself to watch it, I couldn't because of how boring it was.

No hate to ATLA fans because I know how hyped up people get about the show, but it just wasn't it for me.

Beautiful CGI, average story.
15 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The CGI throughout the entire film was absolutely gorgeous, and it almost tricks you into thinking it's real life. The 13 year wait and 250 million dollar budget was almost worth it. I would have given it a 10, if the story wasn't somewhat pointless.

Jake's just having a good time, he's got a few kids and everything's going pretty well for him, then suddenly the Sky People come back and are willing to destroy entire forests and everything that the Na'vi hold close, all to hunt down and kill Jake.

Jake and his family are forced to leave their home and travel to other regions in Pandora, where they are eventually found and another war occurs, leaving them with the death of many creatures of Pandora, as well as one of Jake's kids.

The story that contained so much death and destruction all in return for Jake's death seems a little forced, if that makes sense.

All in all, absolutely beautiful CGI, creatures, and characters, and even with the average story, deffinetly still worth the watch, especially on the big screen while it's still in cinemas.
