The Pink Panther (2006)
A very funny film!
My wife and I went to see this, because it was one of few that was showing at a time convenient to us. I was not that excited to see it after hearing all of the negative press it has received. However, after having seen "The Pink Panther", I feel it has been given an unfair rap. While not as sophisticated as the original "The Pink Panther" or "A Shot in the Dark", I thought this version did an excellent job of capturing the spirit of some of the later Peter Sellers Pink Panther movies such as, "The Return of the Pink Panther". It similarly contains moments that can only be described as silly, and a few of the slap stick sequences are almost painful to watch, but I found my self laughing out loud hard and long throughout the movie. This is the first movie in which I have laughed that much since "The Wedding Crashers" which is similar only that it also contains silly moments and painful slap stick. In addition, although I originally thought that Steve Martin was a very poor choice to follow Seller's wonderfully funny portrayal of Inspector Clouseau, it turned out that he did a quite admirable job. Kevin Kline also has a great turn as Chief Inspector Dreyfuss. Don't listen to the naysayers. Give your self a treat and much needed laugh by going to the theater to see Steve Martin as Inspector Clouseau in "The Pink Panther".
The Day the Fish Came Out (1967)
Strange yet intriguing little film.
I disagree with many of the other comments here. This film is truly worth seeing, although it is hard to find. I caught it on the Fox Movie Channel. True, the editing is crude and the film has an uneven feel. But the amateurish feel only adds to the charm, and the viewer has many messages he can choose to take with him or not. The costuming seems to parody the then current London mod craze with hilarious results. Many of the costumes for both men and women have strategically placed "cut-outs" that make the attire seem both naughty and funny at the same time. See this film for the costumes if no other reason. I think you will find this little comedy of errors charming.
