Awful! One of the WORST movies I have ever seen!
This is the biggest mess of a movie I think I have ever seen. I love B movies, but this was clearly an F. This was not a horror movie. It wasn't even a thriller. The only redeeming value of this movie is that every scene is completely laughable. The script is horrible. The directing is even even worse. I've watched porn with better acting, writing, and direction than this! I feel sorry for all the actors that were in this. I've seen them in better, but it's their fault for choosing to be in this garbage (unless they didn't even read the script before accepting the roles).
For as little screen time as Tony Todd has, he was the best thing about this movie. I feel sorry for Bill Dee and especially William Forsythe. They were obviously doing this flick for a paycheck. But William is better than this trash.
Avoid this movie at all costs if you're sober -- unless you want to laugh!!! It will be even funnier if you're drunk with a group of friends.
I would give this NO STARS if I could.
Dangerous Game (1988)
Good thriller!
Although some people might think this was a "Die Hard" rip-off, this movie actually came out BEFORE "Die Hard".
What makes this movie an above average movie is quite simply: the direction and cinematography.
Director Stephen Hopkins (years before he directed "Predator 2", "Blown Away", and executive produced the TV series "24") creates a lot of tension from with his unique style -- which can be seen later in "Predator 2" -- but he failed to stick to this same kind of style with later films he directed -- which is very disappointing. And considering this was his first feature film (he was the 2nd Unit Director on "Highlander")-- he makes this film look like he's been directing for years!
Peter Levy's cinematography is BRILLIANT! He's still, in my opionion, one of the BEST cinematographers in the world! I'll see anything that Peter Levy is the DP on.
So, if you're in the mood for a "Die Hard"ish kind of film -- that looks good and has a lot of tension, this is the movie to see. It's a very underrated thriller that didn't get too much attention in US (it's an Australian film).
Resident Evil (2002)
One of the WORST Movies of all time!
Okay, I thought "Tomb Raider" was just okay, but at least they had a great director (Simon West), and actors that could actually act -- and a little bit of a story mixed in with all the action.
"Resident Evil" is just plain BORING! I almost fell asleep watching this trash. There was one good scene of action, but other then that, the acting was HORRIBLE (I can't emphasize that enough!), and the action -- what little there was -- was just plain boring! The movie was ridiculous! I rate this up there with Stallone's movie "Driven" as one of the WORST movies ever made!
Director Paul Anderson needs to get back to his roots. He made an entertaining movie with the ORIGINAL "Mortal Kombat" (the sequels were awful though), but at least "Mortal Kombat" had some great cinematography, and special effects! It was an action flick...
If you haven't seen Paul Anderson's first movie entitled "Shopping" you are really missing out... the BEST movie he's ever made -- and one of my favorite movies of all time! So it's a disappointment that after his first film, he started making trash! He's a talented director, but I think needs to make better choices, and start doing better movies like his action-director counterparts (i.e., Simon West, Michael Bay) who have moved on to not only do action films, but action films with strong characters driving the story -- like Paul Anderson did with "Shopping".
He needs to be getting back to his roots and start making his characters more interesting, since he wrote and directed "Resident Evil" he takes the blame for the entire flick being bad!
