Anne of Green Gables: A New Beginning (2008 TV Movie)

A TRAVESTY

I grew up with the "Anne" books and reread them for years, then watched the Megan Fellows films as they came out on PBS. Now at 70 years old, I thought I found a continuation of these best loved books. But I find that Kevin Sullivan has made a liar out of Anne, out of her author, by telling us that she made up stories about her origins, and that, therefore, the Anne books are untrue.

I am so sorry I found this film as it really leaves a bad taste in one's mouth.

Partners in Crime (2015)

Updating the Beresfords - a totally different Tommy, but still set in the 20th century!

I do like the new Partners in Crime and the actors, but I have a couple of reservations. In the first show it was amusing that Tommy was so slow and unaware, but by the 2nd show, N or M, it was becoming disturbing that he was so clumsy in his reactions. Hopefully, if there are future episodes, he will become a bit smarter and not do things like getting his uncle shot. I do like the fact that he is not, as in previous incarnations of this series, so arrogant.

I did have a problem with N or M in that we never find out why the scientist handed over his bomb. Was he being blackmailed? And why in section 2 of that program when Tommy and Mrs. Sprout are in his bedroom at the hotel and she calls him Mr. Beresford did he not react? Was it just another instance of him being slow on the uptake or was it a mistake that no one working on the show caught?
