The Marvels (2023)
Another facet of true Marvel creators
Marvel always had a softer, funnier side in the comics that was carried throughout and interjected at times.
IMHO, this movie is the epitome of the REAL MARVEL UNIVERSE that the original creators intended.
Some things in life just are lighthearted and happen happily with a bit of confusion that we all have to deal with - while horrible events occur - like "bad guys" trying to hurt people.
We see Kamala, Carol, and Monica as the people they are with the social situations we all have like family and having no family. We can't truly know what our reactions would be if our child got superpowers. So, they are dealing with it.
I say, enjoy it for what it is, stop trying to put it in a box it doesn't fit into, and go with the flow.
Living for the Dead (2023)
A great first season with an excellent opportunity to grow a following.
I wasn't sure what a to expect. 1st as a fan of the "ghost hunting" genre. 2nd as a gay man. I was happily pleased. The show gives some light-heartedness and humor to topics that too often go for the SHOCK factor to get ratings. The cast is a realistic representation of our community and while it is cheesy at times - we all can be. The cast comes across as the real people they are and there is a validity to their lines, attitudes, and reactions. Are some over the top, sure. Could there be more "spookiness" and overall "scare" factor, yes. It is DEFINITELY worth a watch and I hope for Season 2.
