Amar Singh Chamkila (2024)
Rating is because of myopic intent
What I dont understand ...
Why people like this director or any find a character from their community and make a movie about it ?
Why the social reforms ,evil ,backwardness of the society which no doubt exist to an extent is magnified like a daily soap and projected for a guilt trip for our society .
Try bringing some calm ,openess and flexibility in your families to Mr Rahman & Ali .
Credit to Chamkila's life, which has everything to make a perfect "Bollywood movie." He rose from the ashes, became number one, had bad habits, had to struggle for his existence, was threatened, and then shot dead-see, a perfect script for a musical biopic on a controversial but popular artist. The film somehow tries to whitewash his image, but it doesn't fare well there. Chamkila has no shame admitting that he was married, and Amarjot actually sees no problem in that except for one small heated argument. He openly blames the public for making him a villain, but eventually becomes their victim. It was the public who forced him to do those things, and yet he was blamed for spoiling society. I have seen this trend in our so-called educated society where people blame a cinema, an artist, or a song for spoiling children and youth. Okay, by that logic, we should have had hundreds of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and other legendary personalities in our society because we have made films on them. I didn't see anything happening like that, so why blame someone for a bad influence? Influences can be good too, but nobody gives a damn about that. Ali's film asks you this question, and you have no answer but to look down and walk away. That's why it is important to watch this film, not only because it's a fun and entertaining watch and you need to know Chamkila and his life, but because society destroys honest artists. The same way, Hollywood shows their hit artists having sexual and extramarital affairs, sometimes homosexual, drugs, psychological frustrations, and depression, and then gets away with rave reviews. What's wrong with Chamkila, then? Have a look, not because Chamkila was a legend or anything like that, but because he brought out what was inside you, even if it was bad. "Karte to sab hai, but chup chupke."

Everyone should watch this
Must see drama on why Kashmir was burning for so many years.
Mangeshpshelote24 February 2024
"Must see drama on why Kashmir was burning for so many years" is an essential cinematic exploration of the complex socio-political dynamics fueling the longstanding conflict in the region. Through its compelling narrative, the film delves deep into the manipulation of ordinary citizens by politicians, who exploit divisions based on religion, caste, and other identities for their own gain. It serves as a poignant reminder of the power struggles that have plagued Kashmir, shedding light on the human cost of political agendas and the desperate need for empathy and understanding amidst turmoil.
"Everyone should watch this" is not just a statement; it's a call to action for individuals to confront the harsh realities depicted in the film. As an eye-opener, it prompts viewers to reflect on the repercussions of systemic injustices and the consequences of apathy towards the suffering of others. By shining a spotlight on the plight of the common people caught in the crossfire of political machinations, the movie underscores the urgency of fostering dialogue, empathy, and genuine efforts towards peace and reconciliation in regions torn apart by conflict.
Swatantrya Veer Savarkar (2024)
"I dont hate Gandhi but I hate Non Violence"
"Swatantrya Veer Savarkar" is its technical mastery. The cinematography is breathtaking, creating a visually immersive experience that transports you right into the heart of the freedom struggle. You feel the suffocating dampness of Savarkar's cell in Kaala Paani, the electrifying energy of revolutionaries plotting their next move, and the simmering tension of confrontations with the iron fist of the British Raj.
One of the most thought-provoking aspects of the film is the dynamic between Savarkar and Gandhi. Their contrasting ideologies are brought to life through a series of powerful, nuanced exchanges. These conversations highlight the fascinating complexities of India's fight for independence, where different leaders advocated for different paths to freedom. The film doesn't shy away from portraying the friction between their approaches, sparking contemplation about the multifaceted nature of a nation's struggle for self-rule.
It's worth noting that the film isn't without its flaws. The pacing could be tightened in certain stretches, particularly during the first part of the second half where Savarkar is incarcerated. A minor edit of 15-20 minutes could enhance the overall flow without compromising the depth of the story.
Despite this minor drawback, "Swatantrya Veer Savarkar" stands out as a remarkable achievement in historical cinema. It's a testament to the passion and commitment of the filmmakers. The film offers a profound and engaging experience that is both educational and entertaining. It left me contemplating the complexities of India's freedom struggle, the legacy of its key figures, and the enduring significance of their fight for self-determination.
Choona (2023)
sub standard plot.
There is no real story. Seems like a bunch of random actors doing some act. There is no common thread tying the story.
Jimmy Shergill as usual the only great actor. He should have got more screen time.
Very sub standard plot. Story had real potential but even after 5th episode nothing really moved.
Too many characters and background story telling becomes really irritating after a while. Character development was too rushed. Lead actor has no facial expression.

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023)
Waste
1. The movie just goes on forever, as if it's on a mission to bore it's viewer to death before coming to an end. When the trailer itself has informed the viewers about it's central conflict, then why does the movie waste an hour to get there? Also, after the houses are interchanged, the movie just turns into a television show, with no real intention of reaching anywhere. There is absolutely no way this movie should have had a runtime of three hours; a ninety minute runtime was more than enough.
2. Karan Johar's films are known for their music but unfortunately this one has forgettable songs. A number of songs have been thrown into the mix, but by the time you are done watching the film, you don't remember any of them. Pritam has been delivering some beautiful songs of late, but it seems even he wasn't inspired to create some gems for this dull and boring story. Every single song of the film should have been rejected at the editing table.
3. The movie starts off nicely with some genuinely entertaining scenes thanks to Ranveer Singh's flamboyant portrayal of Rocky Randhawa, but soon turns into a lecture of morals and code of conduct with non-stop lessons being forced upon you in every single scene. Now it's a good thing to talk about social evils, but it has to be done in an organic manner and it definitely should not be the whole point of the film. Also, the movie gets carried away so much in some scenes while lecturing that it just becomes absolutely nonsensical. What was the whole point of that 'bra' shop scene? Was it really necessary for Ranveer to wear a bra to understand the point? Normally, people are hesitant in talking about their undergarments, they are not ashamed of it. That scene went unnecessarily over the top. Also, how is it wrong if someone is shy to talk about undergarments? That whole sequence felt like a case of feminism gone wrong.
4. The whole movie has the feel of an Ekta Kapoor soap opera, something that we stopped watching a long time back. Rich people dressed up all the time as if they are about to go for a wedding; mind games being played between daughter-in-law and mother-in-law; even the background music reminded me of the music that played during the Ekta Kapoor produced television shows.
5. The movie tells the story of two families, one of them being conservative while the other one being liberal and progressive. Now, it's completely fine for people to have different beliefs but to show one family as regressive while the other one as progressive is stretching it a bit too much. Life needs balance in order to function properly, you need to be progressive as well as a conservative; it makes no sense to declare one way of life as wrong because both of them have their downsides. Extreme form of anything will only lead you towards the realm of absurdity, where nothing good can ever exist, so it's always best to maintain a good balance in life as it allows us to take the most logical and sensible decisions in life.
6. Alia Bhatt wasn't a good choice for this role. Of late it has become common to push Alia Bhatt's name for every big project, regardless of whether she is suitable for it or not and this of course being a Karan Johar directorial, he was obviously going to take her considering the amount of love that he has for her; but unfortunately he took a wrong decision. From the very first scene, an attempt was made to portray Alia Bhatt's character as a very sexy woman, who wears sarees and has a voice of her own, but the director failed to do so convincingly, simply because Alia Bhatt wasn't fit for this role. Alia Bhatt's baby face and her voice completely takes you out of the kind of scene that the director was trying to showcase. This role required someone like an Aishwarya Rai or Kareena Kapoor or Kiara Advani. Even her acting felt forced on a number of occasions; she just wasn't cut out for this role.
7. I was hoping to find some comedy in the film, but apart from the "Big Boss" joke I didn't find anything to be particularly funny. Regardless of how we see 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' and 'Kal Ho Na Ho' today, one can't deny that they had a lot of humour.
I had high expectations from this one after all the praise it received from the critics, but I guess it was naïve of me to trust the judgement of critics in the first place. 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani' is a long and boring lecture that just doesn't know that it needs to conclude things as well.
Friday Night Plan (2023)
Babil eyes & smile made me remember his father throughout the movie
Friday Night Plan (streaming on Netflix) is a coming-of-age comedy film about two teenage brothers, Siddharth (Babil Khan) and Aditya (Amrith Jayan), who team up to attend the hottest party of the year after their mother leaves for a work trip. The film follows the brothers as they navigate the ups and downs of their first big night out, all while learning more about themselves and each other.
The film's strongest asset is its cast. Babil Khan and Amrith Jayan are both excellent as the bickering brothers, and they have great chemistry together. Juhi Chawla is also good as the boys' mother, and she brings a lot of warmth to the role. The supporting cast is also solid, with Ninad Kamat, Medha Rana, and Aadhya Anand all giving admirable performances.
The film masterfully balances humor and heart, filled with numerous laugh-out-loud moments intertwined with touching emotional scenes. It offers a realistic portrayal of teenage life, capturing the awkwardness, excitement, and uncertainties of adolescence through believable and relatable characters. Central to the narrative is the celebration of brotherhood; the bond between Siddharth and Aditya serves as the film's emotional core, making it delightful to witness their relationship deepen as the story unfolds.
Uff ...Babil ,I kept on seeing his fathers reflection through him,What an Innocent smile his childhood values was reflecting through his eyes.
For a change Excel entertainment Farhan Akhtar chose a nice script without narrative .
I hope bollywood learn in a good way.
The film's direction is also effective. Vatsal Neelakantan does a good job of capturing the energy and excitement of the night out, while also providing some touching moments between the brothers. The film's screenplay is also well-written, with plenty of laughs and heartwarming moments.
If you are looking for a heartwarming and funny film about the power of brotherhood, then I highly recommend Friday Night Plan. ...

Crackdown (2020)
What a waste
Don't waste your time in watching this web series. The story itself is poorly written and it's disappointing to see RAW being presented in such a bad way. The actors have not done any good job in acting as well. Almost everyone has done an acted poorly and RAW chief is the most stupidest person presented in this web series. There is so much unnecessary swearing and one can easily say that they are just swearing cause they think it looks cool. Very childish and poorly made. Don't watch

Meenakshi Sundareshwar (2021)
Be in love
Long distance relationship, of a husband and wife, Sundareshwar and Meenakshi. Story was nice. Best part of this movie is, I would to say it's scenic beauty and simplicity. The background and the scene locations were so beautifully added keeping in mind the traditions and culture of the people living in South India. I would call this picture a visual treat. Apart from this, the combination of English and Tamil, I guess made the picture more interesting and easy to connect.

Bheed (2023)
makes a hat-trick of bad films
Bheed causes a certain irksome hour for you with a tedious black-and-white show. I know and I can understand why the film converted to black and white, but I don't see the script and execution finding the right balance to prove the given point. It was supposed to portray black memories, but it does everything besides that. There is drama-so much drama-unnecessarily, and the characters are dragged into the worthless mud. The editing is strictly okay, as it was less than two hours long, yet it felt boring sometimes. Anubhav Sinha makes a hat-trick of bad films. After a forgettable filmography till 2016, he took a new birth with "Mulk" (2018) and "Article 15" (2019), but then he went to the dead zone again with "Thappad" (2020) and "Anek" (2022). Bheed takes him even lower. This has to be one of his worst films in recent times, and besides the box office, I expect a lot of humiliation from the public, if not critics. Bheed just didn't go right, not even in one aspect. The only two good scenes in the film are one, that cement mixer revelation, and second one is the end-not because the torture ends, but it's really a good end. Then there are intertitles about migration and police treatment, which are useful, but good intertitles don't mean good cinema. As a whole, this is an awfully bad film. Not your noses, but your eyes need those masks to protect you from this.
Four More Shots Please! (2019)
Vomiting filth
Hire actual talents and not a bunch of pseudo-progressives.
Women empowerment = Cussing, having drugs, acting like a constipated screeching idiots.
If you're going to harp on the good ol' muh patriarchy again, at-least don't act like complete hypocrites in YOUR OWN SHOW. It's absolute cringe. At this point, it's almost like when they sit to write the show they have only three ingredients. Sex, cussing and, more sex. Because that's all the talent they have. Acting like loud mouth degenerates does not make this mess "progressive."
Avoid like a plague for your own sanity.
Ere is no humour except for some poor jokes that are even more poorly delivered by the actors on screen. The acting ranges from medicore ( Sayani Gupta) to horrendous ( Bani J). While, no one ever presumed that the actors in the series were seasoned method actors, the expectations were inflated given the hype created around the show
The director very poorly oversells feminism and women empowerment by adopting all the hashtags and buzz words around, and manipulatively inserting scenes and injecting messages that are ridiculous. As the season progresses one can clearly make out that all the protagonists are unprofessional and entitled individuals who have not yet matured despite their contempt for other immature individuals.
The show bears an uncanny resemblance to most American sitcoms that you may have seen and all the sets and locations are designed in such a way to pass off Mumbai as an American city. I couldn't help stare with wondrous eyes at the plush and posh looking "houses" (yes, houses not flats) wher
Total time waste
Pathetic acting, story and direction. It's a waste of time to watch this ... Well not sure
Nonsense so called feminists who thinks men is only for enjoyment rest they are problems for us! Idiotic cast , and I hope you do not being more seasons.
Total waste of time. Its so cringy that I couldn't even watch till end .
Too much Cringe o((>-< ))o
This type of movie is far cut out from the reality, and mislead our youth.
Pathetic!!!
Could not see beyond ep 1. Most women certainly aren't obsessed with sex drinking drugs et al as depicted on this show. Made by Pritish Nandy Productions who don't have a great track record of making memorable films. In one word avoiddd.
Nazar Andaaz (2022)
What a beautiful movie!
What is a good movie suppose to do?
A good movie is suppose to inspire you, bring up emotions that you never thought you had, make you laugh, make you cry, make you think, make you feel, leave an impression that stays with you even after the end credits role.. and this movie does all of that!
What a beautiful movie!
Kumud Mishra is brilliant and other hold their part well. The scene and the chemistry between Kumud Mishra and Rajeshwari Sachdev is heart warming.
In a time where a family movies are full of vulgarity and sexual obsession, here comes a movie that is truly a family movie in all sense.
Had this movie had a A list cast, the movie.
Jai Bhim (2021)
Communist Stalin agenda
Really like Suriya and his acting, from Ghajini to recent Soorarai Pottru i enjoyed his movie. But this movie was made with unwanted controversies. Movie is based on real incident... fine, then show as it happened why you change the religion? The movie tried to portray discrimination experienced by the unprivileged class of society... It's a good thought. But in the real incident (based which this movie was made) the sub inspector was a Christian but in the movie his character was modified into an upper caste man. Why Anthony Das becomes Guru here? All other main character names are retained. The original characters have been intentionally replaced to target specific communities who are against the Surya's favorite Ruling party. Only because their minority appeasement will come to stake or there will be a question mark on their so called secularism ideology. The moment I saw Periyar (person who was believed to fight against discrimination, but filled with hatred towards hindu traditions) I was disgusted. This movie is made to create hate towards certain communities which was unnecessary.
Govinda Naam Mera (2022)
Disgusting
Recently watched this movie that I found to be extremely disappointing due to its poorly thought out plot. The story was completely nonsensical and seemed to have no direction or purpose. It was clear that the filmmakers had not put much thought into the development of the plot, and it showed in the final product.
The characters were one-dimensional and their actions did not make any sense in the context of the story. The dialogue was clunky and often times felt forced and unnatural.
Overall, I was extremely disappointed in this movie. The plot was truly terrible and not well thought out, and it made for a very unenjoyable viewing experience. I would not recommend.

Beautiful movie
One of the most humorous films ever made, coming from Tamil Cinema after a very long time.
Especially, the first half of the film was a laugh riot in theatres mostly with families watching and that too with a lower audience count.
The humor is done by a serious female protagonist based on whom the entire film travels, the film might make you feel like having watched a feminism-based movie since it targets male chauvinists specifically, but it was all for humor and good things, all related to the transformation that our. Qala (2022)
Great music but painfully slow
Story could have been summed up in a 10 minute short film but got stretched to 2 hours because it was a fancy dress party of women cast & crew.
Performance wise both Babil & Tripti have done justice to the character and both look promising for their future prospects. However, they both fail to sound like people from the 1930's and instead spoke like present day city living elite kids. They need to work a lot on their Hindi diction, tonal quality, accent and voice throw if they are looking to stay in Hindi Film Industry for a longer run.
Small town cricket rich money production trying to magnifying themselves to intellectual club failing miserably.

Trash & Filth with an ecological twist
The problem with the film is the characters in the film are not intresting at all that's why we are never interested in the end.
We can't relate to them and most of all we don't have any sympathy for these supposedly depressed people.
My main problem with the film is what they are trying to project through a film which is not healthy at all.

Nothing Indian about the movie
Though movie claims to be showing same male dominant trendy society theme which has been rewired multiple times .
No doubt there are few issues in the community. At the same time Hindu society is most progressive .
Would love to see director J baby moving on with its Anti Hindu narrative and make its next movie on Great Islamic or Catholic house focusing upon
Why not to follow polygamy?
Abolish conversions
Abolish burqa and purdah system .
Etc there are multiple women regression issues in both communities .
Will wait to watch a true director and writer making a movie about that.
